Sorry late to the party if it’s been answered before, but have we found the reasoning behind the second hit of cr.HP being a CC? There has to be something specific. I imagine it in part deals with V-Trigger, but I feel like there’s something else. Just a weird design choice. Maybe it combats certain moves.
I think they actually wanted the opponent to spin out away from you to make it awkward to follow up on. I think they wanted to prevent doing a meaty 2nd hit cr.HP counter hit and linking s.HP afterwards. They actually used the CC property to make a move worse than a normal counter hit. That’s the only thing I can figure.
I think it’s purpose is to CC armored moves.
Just started playing this character two days ago but he’s really fun, and I think he could end up really good once he’s better understood.
Was having trouble feeling out the timing for standing fierce CC OS, so I messed around and found you could manual time it. Could be useful, I think. Here :v
one way I have success is just by doing st.hp xx (insert motion here) and then press the button when I see CCs hit, it seems to work pretty consistently.
I feel it, I just think the manual timing is useful because you can grind it as muscle memory so you can be thinking about other stuff in that situation rather than reacting to the CC.
I’m having issues figuring out a good block string for Rashid. I figures s. MP, c.mk is good to start with but I’m not sure if characters with 3 frame attacks could interrupt that.
What’s the best and safest block string?
C.mk, qcf+K?
sMP, sMP is a really good block string but you do have to be close. The problem with sMP, cMK is that you can’t do anything after the CH cMK other than a cancel into a special.
CH c.MK does combo into LP WWS where regular c.MK does not, though, which is noteworthy.
s.MP>s.MP is so dicey on spacing I don’t think there’s any practical use for it. s.LP>s.MP is the same frame trap but keeps you closer and gives better options.
I have been messing around with Rashid lately, really fun character. I am wondering what crush counter punish (meterless) you all use? Is 5Hk, 6Mp, Kick fast enough to punish a DP consistently or should I be using 5Hp? It seems to me like the meterless 5Hp crush counters are pretty weak
s.HK can punish any CCable move just fine, it’s your best CC midscreen. You can use it against moves like moonsault, Sim teleport, Karin’s qcb+HP and so on for a CC launch.
You can also do CC s.HK L mixer (no mash) then M mixer (mash) for insane corner carry but less damage.
Only use s.HP in the corner, there you can do CC s.Hp xx ex WWS xx roll c.hp s.mp xx M ES
Another punish you can do if you feel you won’t have time to connect the st.HK is st.MP > st.HP xx H/EX Eagle.
It only combos on counterhit. It does the same damage, but slightly more stun and st.MP is 5 frames so it’s easier to use to punish things like LP Raging Light from Necalli.
In corner, s.HP xx ex WWS xx v-skill roll, s.HP xx v-skill roll kick xx H SM does a little more damage and builds more v-meter.
What sort of VT mix ups have you all come up with? I’ve been doing one off EX Eagle Spike that seems to work pretty well , but I’m sure there are some better ones out there
Anyone have any good meaty setups off of Spinning Mixer? The knockdown advantage it gives is pretty amazing.
So, I didn’t realize Vega’s EX roll has projectile invincibility from frame 1, I thought maybe there was a little startup window where it wasn’t invincible, but apparently that’s the case. Because I just tried to chip out a Vega on wakeup with super and he wokeup EX rolled and avoided it. He didn’t seem to move through me and I’m not sure how fast we recovered relative to each other though. Might be worth looking into.
I’ve been doing some meaty experimenting. It seems if you are in the corner and do 2Hp, 5Mp, Mp Spinning Mixer then whiff two 5Lp when you land, you can get a meaty 5Hp crush counter. A whiffed 5Lk into 5Hk seems to work after 5Mp, 2Mk, Mp Spinning Mixer and a whiffed 5Mp into 5Hk after 2Hp, 5Mp, Mp Mixer mid screen. This is just preliminary stuff though, the timing seems a bit wonky so it def needs a lot more testing. I’ll post any results I get

Edit: Uh, for some reason, the video’s not time stamped where I want it to be, but go to about 52:44.
