Rashid General Thread: Desert Storm - second new character

I haven’t perfected these but they seem cute enough for a simple vortex style… I haven’t perfected these, perhaps you guys could help?

Anyways, after mashed l mixer I find that most of my opponents are staying on the ground versus rashid… So it’s time to figure out ways to punish that. And I think I’ve found some low level ways to do that:

After mashed L mixer and opponent doesn’t quick get up:

Cr.lp,cr.mp wiffed, jumpin j.mk.

Depending on timing this crosses up or doesn’t…

I’m SURE there’s more ambiguous stuff out there.

Doing wiffed st.mk and st.mp as examples move rashid closer and make the mixup have more variables.

Another setups I just found:

Jump forward st.hk on landing. It dead body crosses.

Ultimately these setups aren’t GREAT because you have to predict your opponents wakeup… But still, why give the opponent free wake ups if we know what they will do…

These becomes safer, albeit less ambiguous if you do the medium before the light.

-edit…,LOL… This rashid shit shit is nasty yo… Mofos have no clue cause it’s so ambiguous,. I don’t even know which side I’m going to end up on…hahahahaha… Srry.

One major thing I do not like about this game is the fact it devolves into whom has the better medium punches and a 3 frame light when it gets up close against some characters.

What’s the alternative? If you have better buttons at a specific range, you typically have a better chance of winning that range, no?

I just don’t like medium punches being the go to move. ALl they did in SF5 is move the SF4 lights to mediums. I prefer how it was handled in 3s. They just moved SF4 problems to another button.

With chun I actually had problems with people mashing lights on me… But now with rashid I don’t… At all really.

Anyway, one piece of tech that people should be using in their game is riding the wind with ex tornado shot. People don’t expect the cross up (jump straight up and the wind moves you slightly over your opponent for the cross up).

Maybe I’m mistiming but I think you can just mash jab/short out of the EX WWS roll neutral jump setup. I tested against Rashid doing reversal st.LK or st.LP on guard recovery and he can hit you before you even jump or as you’re jumping.

Ok, have you tried HP in response to that for a crush counter? Ex ww shot , vskill roll, HP?

Yeah everything but st.LK gets counterhit and st.LK trades, it seems like midscreen EX WWS roll is 0 on block. Could still be used as corner carry as long as you roll into st.LK to continue pressure.

I typed that earlier in another thread. It is decent pressure against anyone that only has 4 frame or worse normals.

Hmm I am showing new combos out of wind enhanced ex spinmixer as well as a way to make it impossible to ground punish it on guard and you say it is useless?:o

Good stuff adding even more damage to the only damaging Rashid combo, the corner CC. I would say the making it safe part is sort of useless. If you get a guaranteed CC you are gonna make sure you hit the combo so if youre not close enough to the corner just skip the st.HP xx EX WWS. Then if youre just using st.HP xx EX WWS for pressure on block you wont waste a bar for EX Mixer. Cool idea though, makes me want to mess around with more wind riding setups.

Thing is… this obviously works for vtrigger as well. Still 1 bar, but a legit option that is invincible on start up that gives you kind of free pressure after the jump in.

Yeah against characters you can freely activate against it is a nice corner mixup. If you can activate it a little further out so it doesn’t put them in blockstun immediately I found some dirty stuff. Trying to see if I can recreate it consistently right now but its difficult. It normally lands in the back like in the video you posted, however a few times I was able to do the enhanced EX mixer and come down in the front.

I haven’t been able to find a consistent setup above but I found something else.

If you can get in front of the v-trigger tornado and do the enhanced EX mixer you get a nice mixup. You will be above them in the air while the tornado is in front of them when they get out of blockstun from the mixer. At that point you can do a late crossup MK or land and go low then get a juggle from the tornado.

SimSim don’t listen to anyone complaining, this tech is godlike. I wonder if reg spin mixer through tornados gets any other tech besides turning into the big one that is hella minus.

We all saw the Lamerboi video on the front page of Shoryuken? Gives me some hope. If you watch it, he won it pretty much without gimmicks. He didn’t do anything that I saw that was unsafe.

I can’t reproduce that in training mode, nothing will come while falling after spining mixer EX. What am i missing ?

He’s wall jumping if you look closely. Right after ex spinner, walljump into ES.
