Rashid General Thread: Desert Storm - second new character

thank you

this is the first proper zoning character in the game. that’s why he doesn’t have much in the way of high execution combos imo.

found this nice combo though - cc st.hp, ex qcf k, v skill + k

he has an instant air v skill ex dive kick like cammy.

is this a glitch when I do his strong whirlwind shot the roll goes full screen instead of rolling only half of the screen forward

I would think Birdie was a proper zoner in this game, haven’t played Rashid yet.

No because you’re rolling though the tornado

true…i forgot about birdie.

did anyone figure out some Bnb combos? everyone spam WW and v-skill dive kicks :ohstop:

the weird thing is that he can zone really well, but his pressure up close is also really good. it’s as if capcom is waiting to see how well he does in the beta before deciding if he’s a defensive or attacking character

when the opponent is in the corner
EX whirlwind into yahoo jump without dive kick and then hit confirm with his st.mp into a combo from the other side

Edit: NM , works mid screen as well, but you have to space it properly so st.mp won’t miss after cross up

Best combo I’ve found after a CC St.HP if you have the meter is: CC St.HP, St.HK xx VT, HP Spin. Obviously it does way more damage if you have super, but his VT is easy enough to build that you should probably go for this combo if you can.

Makes some sense if his defense and poke/neutral game aren’t very good.

Sounds like his defense is more focused on keep away than blowing someone up for pressuring you. So if caught, he has some trouble, but he’s hard to catch.
From that position he can move to offense quickly and get in damage all over the place before bailing again and not letting you get any of your own pressure going.

How is he when someone gets in on him or when they sit at poke range and don’t let him create space to approach from using speed?

Been playing Rashid all morning, feeling him out as I go. Turned on the CPU to max difficulty to learn some stuff and it seems like using normals and canceling them in HK tornado allows for really strong frame trap pressure. There were times when I felt like I honestly couldnt move or hit a button to try and counter poke.

Also I didn’t know you can control the direction of his Critical Art. When you activate it you can hold forward or back to make a slight adjustment to its hitbox.

His St.HK can be used to corpse hop when they’re knocked down, useful against people who don’t like to quick rise and can be used to get out of corner or for a tricky mixup.

Right now my go to bnb/punish is Cr.Hp, st.mp, qcb.mk (or if I have the meter EX qcb.k and then EX spinning mixer)

Also in when you have the opponent in the corner you dont have to cancel mp spinning mixer to land critical art. Just dont mash it and he’ll land in time to activate Critical art or EX spinning mixer for added damage.

Ultradavid is messing around with Rashid in the lab right now

Adding onto the combo @Wikum posted earlier, I’ve found a better (although slightly harder combo) after the CC St.HP: CC St.HP xx EX tornado (late cancel into roll so at least 2 hits of the tornado connect) St.mp, cr.MK xx MP Spin. Does about 300 damage and 500 stun IIRC.

Rashid seems a bit KOF-ish to me (And, I like it)…
This is probably well-known at this point but I just figured out that Rashid’s st.MP will link into cr.MK…
st.MP, cr.MK, 214LK
st.MP, cr.MK, 236LP(…)
etc…
I like this character quite a bit.

EDIT:
Rashid can also link out from his cr.HP as well (the second hit).
cr.HP (both hits) xx(link)xx cr.LP, 236+LP(…)

Rashid is underwhelming but i do like his yahoo jump.

Where did all the Rashids go? I fought like a whole bunch in a row when I first loaded up the game and now I haven’t fought a single one.
