He might barely make it, but I wouldn’t count on it. I was told “around 10 characters” by community manager europe, and 10=no rashid. So maybe we are lucky and he sneaks in, but if he does, it is a previous weaker version of him (the one I played).
I do feel like Rashid was announced so long ago that he should make it in to the beta though!
10 = anybody has a chance. Capcom said they will be mixing up who is playable in the second beta. Meaning Rashid could possibly replace one of the original 6 for the next beta.
I’m really glad they are going this route. Will make playing the 2nd beta more fun since you’re guaranteed to get experience fighting against characters you didn’t before, rather than wading through 50% Ryus that open the fight with jump back fireball.
Hopefully all 6 characters from the first beta aren’t playable. Of course that means it’ll be 50% Ken this time but still. =P
is that a target combo i see him doing? the one were he kinda hits them twice with his back to ryu on the first hit and then he turns round on the second. looks like you get frame advantage. i’m definitely trying this guy out in the beta lol.
Rashid seems like a cool character I’d like to play him on the side. His damage is pretty good too. I defintely want to play with him on day 3 when he’s available.
His projectile projectory and timing just isn’t something you can own with anti fireball stuff imo. Not if you space it properly. Maybe cammy’s v skill, but cammy has been screwed and nerfed to complete oblivion with her b+fp so i’ll let that go. (god she got fucked so hard). Jesus I used to like cammy in beta 1 and I admit she was too good, but holy shit they destroyed her =P
So now here I am coming up with R Mika who is really good imo, I hope I’m not giving her the nerf bat heh. She’s REALLY good right now though =P I’ve also got the action figure I have in my avatar that I wanna sit in front of people at tourneys for fun, ha. Costs like $40 too way too expensive, but I intend on sitting that shit in front of people and ticking people for days. R. Mika hurts =P
That’s exactly why I’m interested to check him out. The fact he can cancel them into flip/roll means that as an opponent you won’t necessarily want to try attack. Instantly trying to punish him might end up biting you in the ass, which might lead to a new and non traditional style of zoning. At the very least I think he’ll be able to run away fairly well.
Don’t get me wrong, I think his projectile is potentially the best projectile in the game, and it’s going to be a tool you’re going to have to respect when playing against Rashid. However, I sincerely doubt it’s going to be something to complain about. It has a very long animation, so you can’t just throw it out, because people can react to it. Furthermore, due to its angle, it seems very well suited as an obstacle against someone who’s getting impatient, but it’s not suited to be a mid- to full screen pressure tool. And, as mentioned, most of the cast has very useful anti-fireball tools.
Finally, with how lackluster most of the cast is looking at the moment, you won’t see me complain about characters getting strong tools in SFV. If Rashid’s fireball somehow does end up dominating the game, you can count on me abusing the fuck out of that thing.
Rashid looks cool so far. He’s got some other tricky shit that should be decent when people fiddle with it. He’s going to be the Rolento of the game it looks like, and that’s fine.
I have to ask, have you actually tried Rashid? I played Rashid for 2 days, around 7-10 hours together. And his projectiles kind of sucked as a zoning move.
I played against pretty good players that slowly learnt how to deal with Rashid, and I remember asking my friend at one point: “Are you seeing my fireball start up (jab btw), then deciding to jump over and punish me?” and he said that yes, that was what he was doing.
I would agree that the fireball was crazy good if Rashid had less recovery, but at least in the build I played, his jab fireballs were easily reactable to jump over, and if it was the heavy version the jump in would hit even before the fireball was active.
Now, all of this becomes a scramble when you start canceling his fireballs in to his v-skill, but at that point you are using it for rush down again, which is what I think they were intended for in the first place. Though canceling them will help with the zoning as well, and I didn’t know I could do it at the time. But just his fireballs alone are not anywhere near “too good”.
