Majority for me has been best of 3, but there have been 1 or 2 Scoreboard matches (ranked) that were best of 5, like 95% in my experience. And this is both Quick Match and Custom Match. Maybe it’s just the game being buggy. But it’s definitely not my settings, they’re best of 3.
Scoreboard is Ranked.
Come play me. = ) I’m ranked #57.
If you’re on PSN you need to add friends first. Click the PS button on the controller and add a friend. Then go to Create Match and click on Square to invite your friends.
There’s a huge faggot on XBL. Pretty hilarious.
Dude creates quick matches in original, not remixed, picks dhalsim and just drops before he looses. You can’t choose if you’re playing ST or remixed in quick matches so you end up facing him. His latest trick is also selecting the slowest speed just to throw off people even more.
Haha oh man. He’s been doing that for days. His GT was Ultrasomething (no, not david), i think ultrajeffrey or ultrajoey or something.
So I’ve implemented the trueskill ranking system for ST tournaments (www.six-zeroes.com), so I think I can speak with some authority on how it works:
First, please read this:
Now let me state some facts: The rankings are meant to be used within bands of 50 or less. For those of you that play VF5, you’ll know that your ranking is something like 4th dan, 5th dan, etc… those titles represent large bands.
It was a mistake for capcom to choose to display rankings down to the single point. A much better way to evaluate your ranking would be to only look at the first 2 numbers. So if your ranking is 3524, then think of yourself as level 35. If your ranking is 4031, then you are at level 40.
If someone is at 4028, and someone else at 4097, then they are both level 40, and equally ranked.
That happened to me a couple of times, still not sure why it happens.
Quick match does seem to match me up with better players so I usually use it but there are 2 drawbacks, one, half the time it doesn’t match you with anyone, and two is you run the risk of playing against someone with 200 ping who warps around the screen.
I agree with most of you, what they really need to do is fixed player matches, I’d rather play in player matches with good players but half the time you can’t get in or when you do you lose connection after a couple matches. Very frustrating.
Heh. Well, I know three people in here… I played Zass a few times Saturday night and Airthrow a few times too. Also ran into Nelson once and Wiz once. Cool beans.
Yeah, my ranking will probably mess people up, I’m like slightly below .500 in win-loss and yet I’m in the 4100s or so for the trueskill rating. People above and below me who have won three times as many as they’ve lost are probably WTFing all over, but I ran into some really good players on Saturday night so any wins I got at all probably were considered quality.
I got a few free wins on the PS3 version and a few free losses on Xbox due to the game disconnected right when the match started. I think it assumes that one of you dropped and hands out wins / losses.
It’s annoying, but it doesn’t happen *that *often, so I’m still glad that droppers get a loss. Once they fix it and patch it, it should become a non-issue.
Teleporting Lag throw-li is possibly the most broken character in all of fighting games, I laughed when I lost to her cus of teleporting and rolling me back into throws, I could not even keep track of what was going on.
heh, I find laggy ken to be the most broken of all. All he has to do is repeated jab dp’s there’s very little you can do :). Any attempt to hit the whiffed ones will mean you’re eating another b/c of the lag.
I disagree. The rewind should mean that you’ll at least see the thing come down even if you don’t see it go up, so although you’ll have a shorter window to react you can still hit it. Although I did see a guy who was so blatantly trying to exploit laggy rh HK that I wondered if he was making his connection worse on purpose so I couldn’t see it coming.
The one real benefit I see to any particular character is Honda, though. Fierce headbutt at range is punishable without needing to risk a DP by jumping back, coming down on top of him as he’s recovering at the end, and beating the shit out of him… IF you don’t have the rollback cutting down the window. Get even a little bit of lag and getting up out of the way before Honda gets to you is very very hard. I can do it all the time in local games, I don’t think I’ve succeeded at it once in online.
My gut feeling is that the ranking system probably works somewhat similar to the ELO rating system from chess. It’s not just your win/loss record that counts, but WHO you are winning or losing against.
The problem is ken’s jab srk has such a small window that you have to react normally that with enough lag it literally becomes impossible to punish it on reaction.
