hmmm, why is it that strider can break autoguard sometimes. It doesn’t make any sense. Sometimes a particular setup gets blocked, and other times it hits. From what I can tell though, it seems like theres no variable so maybe the game is flipping a coin to see weather to lose the autoguard or for it to be activated. This game is too weird and could possibly never be figured out.
I’ve lost too many matches due to this problem. Sometimes it blocks and sometimes I just get hit by the same thing.
Thanks for the thread Shout, today I felt like I had a good run, because I basically lost only to execution problems but beyond my trap was airtight. Keep bringing the inovation :karate: .
figuring out how to remove autoguard, if possible, would only make strider better. It could actually make his xups more deadly than they’re now.
innovating is cool and it can help you out but learning how to play solid is more important. The innovations can’t help you if you can’t land a hit or create your setup which is where playing solid\basics come into play.
solo sent!
shoult…im sure u alreadi know about this or something but i figure i would post about it as i was messin with strider a little bit last night. (stick broke a *ucking gain so im waitin on money to fall from the sky to get it fixed) but i was lookin at strider’s jumping normals and mainly their hit boxes on sentinel. and i started doing dash normal jump lp, lk lk and i was makin the two lk’s hit on sentinels backside, then i tried doing normal jump lp lk rh, and i was getting the rh to hit on sentinels backside.
of course this isn’t inescapable or anything but i did find it interesting because if ur playing strider it seems sentinel shouldn’t be blocking low a whole lot so he would be standing up on a normal basis, so it seems like if you can get sentinel to pushblock an assist or with strider’s back in the corner this would actually be doable…leads to a free ‘infinite’
also i was reading back in this thread and saw you talk about no matter how much work you put into s/d that you do not believe it will beat high lvl player consistently. do you still believe that? if so why? im just so curious because i want to divulge into the s/d world but with such an experienced s/d player saying that makes me want to stick with the b&buttah, no watta mean?
anyways, no rush, i’ll wait for response =_+
I’ll make u block instead of the other way around.

if you look @ the better teams in the game, thrax\matrix\msp\msc\sscable theres one thing they all have something that ssd doesnt. An anti air assist. An AA, completely changes a teams dynamics but heres the problem.
If you op for no AA but a better 3rd like storm\sent, you give yourself a chance to build bar that strider needs but you handicap your team. You severely handicap your point character by trying to make them work with doom and no true AA. Which results in horrible matchup problems.
If you stick an AA on it, the only way for the team to function properly is to start strider but he needs bar to get to work. If you decide to run away till you have enough bar and avoid activating, you risk the chance of major damage on your assist or strider getting nuked.
Its not that strider doesn’t have the options to win @ a high level. He does, its the fact that theres no team suited to help him. You have to take away aspects of mvc2 gameplay to make him function.
The only thing strider really has going for him is that he’s not figured out yet. The deeper he becomes as a character, the more it’ll improve his gameplay\option tree but your still ignoring the simple basic things that stop his teams from functioning properly. Thats the cool thing about strider though. He could have something thats not known yet that could completely blow out the game and he’ll instantly jump up the tier ladder.
It sucks because striders option tree is probably the best in the game aside from 1 hit kill. Orbs shut the game down and its instant offense.
Take my advice with a grain of salt though. I have no national exp and very little state exp. Clock is better suited off to answer this question since he has 10x the exp I have.
But it’s the innovators that make the game fun. I’m pretty sure when Justin first showcased tri-jumping everyone started to play Mag and Storm differently and the game became more competitive and fun, or at least I think it was Justin who “invented” trijumping not totally sure but I heard from a friend he was one of the first and it sounds just about right.
Incase it wasn’t seen before,
They really should call him Blockwork, guy works your block all day.
lol, justin wong didn’t make up trijumping. That shit has been around since xmvsf or earlier. I’m not sure if marvel super heroes or cota had tri jumps but xmvsf certainly did.
Like I said I wasn’t sure, but you get what I’m saying.
actually, I take back what I said about s\d not being able to compete @ a high level. I won’t make that call until I see a mixup vs clockw0rk rematch or I see someone winning with sent\doom against power squads\duos.
It takes a mean robot to manage the beginning part of a fight with no AA and w\o dumping bar to slow things down.
Shoult what are your thoughts on air QCF lk move? ive seen it used for movement to get down quick, or cross up, mabey that was your vid…
Ive been using the air qcf lk too dig in against pushblocking lately…i dont know if anybody else does this or if its worth it. It seems pretty safe to me if you can anticipate the pushblock. Ive had the most succsess with sticking in the ground by delaying it or not doing it too low to the ground, im not sure, the timing seems wierd but im not getting punished. Right now I use very low tiger knee qcf lks to get in front of something quick, intercept a move that a normal cant cover, protect doom from getting kicked in the head or try to stop a super in my face when jumping and i also do it when orbs land at least once and sometimes when the are blocked…ussually after teleporting I will try and time it so i can attempt one more air qcf lk sort of in front of them not on top of them( to try and bait something) and have it be protected by the last few orbs.
peace
that cross up with qcf+lk is clockw0rk. I’m pretty sure I stole that from him.
outside of orbs, its a pretty crappy move. It has a pretty slow startup iirc, it has a funny hit box that only seems to be on the front and sides but not his towards his lowerbody\feet and it has recovery frames after he lands from the move.
The problem with using it to contribute to pushblock is that if they guard cancel off of it, he’s done since his recovery is so crappy on it. He’ll get nuked for sure.
What it does compared to whats wrong with it doesn’t make it a practical move, its more of a situational one. Its ok as a move but the places where your doing it @ sounds pretty risky.
that move sucks unless you’re using it to pull sentinel out of flight mode
which one flies horizontally? fp? that shit’s pretty good for assist punishing w orbs in some situations
i just got done watchin some of snakes youtube matches, he has really nice anti-guard cancel counter hits…really good use of c.fk and df fk during orbs
I think the slide (df+rh) goes under all the good AA’s.
TK+FP during orbs is good for zoning off the screen horizontally and other things like assist punish. It chunks them off pretty clean if you don’t mash orbs during the first few hits to let it reset, then mash P’s out but sometimes it crosses the fuck up for some reason. It has something to do with autoguard. Also, if you have someone in rejump orbs, qcf+fp in the air you can randomly cross them up with that move from the right height. The qcf+fp combined with rings create a werid momentum that can fling them around and you can get a random xup.
When coming out with Strider after a snapback, I like to pushblock and qcf LK sometimes as well lol
I’ve been using a lot of bomb near the end of my ouroburos. It looks nice going into next orb pattern lol
im gonna start using strider/doom fear meeeeeee
bronson.
striiiidaaaaaa
STFN
i dont know how to trap but my sent/doom is booooooomb.
bronson
mash orbs+doom+farm attacks and normals
same as mst, just gotta mash faster
