Random questions about TvC that may be on everyone's mind

So, there are a few things that I’ve been wondering about this game.
Nothing much, really…just some random, stupid things that have been floating around in my mind since the game came out.

I’m just posting this here to see if I’m alone in thinking this, or others are actually as insightful as I am. Perhaps, if you want, you can impart a bit of your own thoughts in this thread, too.

So, without further ado:

-Why is there no online play featured for this game? Seriously…a highly competitive game that’s following in the footsteps of Marvel vs. Capcom, and you have no online play. At all. Yeeeeah.

-Is there a chance that this game will cross over to other platforms?

-Is there any chance at all that Capcom USA would succeed in getting this game for our shores (in the Western world)?

-Where are Strider Hiryu and Captain Commando?

-Where are Speed Racer and Speedy Cerviche (from Samurai Pizza Cats?)

-Why hasn’t Capcom taken a hint and included Dante from Devil May Cry in any crossovers as yet (and I mean as a fully playable character?) Seriously, Capcom. And no, cockteases in the form of cameos (Jedah’s ending in CFE) and posers who look like him (D.D. from the cancelled CFJ) do not count.

-Why is Morrigan’s Soul Eraser from Marvel vs. Capcom gone?

-Why are people talking about banning characters (see: Viewtiful Joe) when a) the game is barely 3 weeks old, and b) there has yet to be a single tournament?

-Does anybody find it odd that nobody’s asked about a Tier listing for this game, on this forum, no less?

-Why does almost everybody on the Tatsunoko side look like a Power Ranger? (Stupid question, I know.)

Well, those are my thoughts. See you around, folks.

-Why is there no online play featured for this game? Seriously…a highly competitive game that’s following in the footsteps of Marvel vs. Capcom, and you have no online play. At all. Yeeeeah.
yea right.

-Is there a chance that this game will cross over to other platforms?
marvel did.

-Is there any chance at all that Capcom USA would succeed in getting this game for our shores (in the Western world)?
probably not.

-Where are Strider Hiryu and Captain Commando?
they were in the first 2

-Where are Speed Racer and Speedy Cerviche (from Samurai Pizza Cats?)
srsly.

-Why hasn’t Capcom taken a hint and included Dante from Devil May Cry in any crossovers as yet (and I mean as a fully playable character?) Seriously, Capcom. And no, cockteases in the form of cameos (Jedah’s ending in CFE) and posers who look like him (D.D. from the cancelled CFJ) do not count.
he would be too OP!

-Why is Morrigan’s Soul Eraser from Marvel vs. Capcom gone?
because she’s not the same sprite anymore

-Why are people talking about banning characters (see: Viewtiful Joe) when a) the game is barely 3 weeks old, and b) there has yet to be a single tournament?
they’re scared of getting cheesed; everyone’s busy training.

-Does anybody find it odd that nobody’s asked about a Tier listing for this game, on this forum, no less?
why would there be tier listing for a game that is “barely 3 weeks old”

-Why does almost everybody on the Tatsunoko side look like a Power Ranger? (Stupid question, I know.)
because old school anime was like that.

I’m a broken record with this, but… where the hell is Frank West? 90% of his moves were fighting game moves to begin with. There’s so much potential.

-Why is there no online play featured for this game? Seriously…a highly competitive game that’s following in the footsteps of Marvel vs. Capcom, and you have no online play. At all. Yeeeeah.

A low budget game + Japan not really big in online. It’s actually more big in ad-hoc stuff.

-Is there a chance that this game will cross over to other platforms?

Not likely.

-Is there any chance at all that Capcom USA would succeed in getting this game for our shores (in the Western world)?

Slim chance.

-Where are Strider Hiryu and Captain Commando?

Kikaku probably didn’t give permission for Hiryu. Dunno about CapCom.

-Where are Speed Racer and Speedy Cerviche (from Samurai Pizza Cats?)

I was wondering about Go Mifune. Yattarou however, is co-owned.

Kobayashi is tired of Dante being whored out.

*-Why is Morrigan’s Soul Eraser from Marvel vs. Capcom gone? *

I guess because it’s not really an original move from her.

-Why are people talking about banning characters (see: Viewtiful Joe) when a) the game is barely 3 weeks old, and b) there has yet to be a single tournament?

Dunno.

-Does anybody find it odd that nobody’s asked about a Tier listing for this game, on this forum, no less?

It’s a good thing. It just means less stupid people.

-Why does almost everybody on the Tatsunoko side look like a Power Ranger? (Stupid question, I know.)

Tatsunoko’s Gatchaman DEFINED Super Sentai so much that Super Sentai/Power Rangers owe a lot to it. It’s also the same question I’d ask when you see musclemen/people wearing undies in Western comics - it’s basically which “stuff” you are used to.

why does everybody thinks some character is top tier just because that char has:

a-. a damaging combo (Ryu, polymar, chun)

b-. Loops and infinites (V.joe, megaman and a lot more)

c-. mad range (Karas and Souki)

d-. Damaging as hell lv3s (Alex)

If it would be like that, we would have lik 7 or 8 top tiers already.

why is youtube so full of scrubs? each time they see a new tvc combo they scream “broken” or “cheap ass”. why is this people? do they forgot about mega crash or that many of them are corner only???

why didnt capcom include Megaman.EXE instead of Trigger?

Inafune did say he was working on a possibility of DASH 3.

As far as the banning characters goes, I just don’t understand what’s so complex about this concept.

What if with Ryu I could tiger knee my hadoken so it combo’d into itself?

What if I could do the same with Batsu, Morrigan, Megaman, and Chun Li?

What exactly is fun about one character being able to combo his fireball into itself with no penalty, despite the engine of the game making many attempts to prevent things like this?

If they leave Joe in, almost every fight is going to become:

-Pick Joe.
-Use your size advantage to avoid your opponents advances and run away while throwing tiger knee’d fireballs.
-Rinse Repeat.

He’s already got 2 infinites, including the only one in Vs game history that can be done from full screen without the assistance of a super move.

It has nothing to do with how old the game is when one characters stands to turn this brand new game into a run and whore fest. It’s quite possibly the laziest lack of playtesting I’ve ever seen and I don’t really feel like practicing my approaches, combos, setups, and matchups when I can still lose horribly to one connected fireball done over and over again.

Every game has a large crowd of people that spend a massive amount of time in training mode practicing whatever they think will win.

Now, I’m not stranger to one hit = death. I played Marvel 2 at a decent level, I know that one mistake can cost you your whole team. But at least in that right it was a combination of skill, application, and practice when I was being reset during ROM infinites and guard broken into more infinites.

I can guarantee you I would have never played the game if Magneto had just been using EM Disruptor to infinite me out of winner’s brackets without even having to attempt a reset.

Besides these qualms I still like this game a lot. Questions:

-Seriously…? How much did it sell internationally because I want a sequel. Yes. Already want one.

-Why no Updated or extra costumes of current characters to unlock? 1994 Gatchaman anyone? Casshern Sin costume? NO COLOR EDIT!? -_- Alpha Chun-Li costume, at least? I guess no huh Capcom? sighs* look below I would’ve loved this

-Why so many 70s characters and so few new tatsunoko properties added? That sux ass.

-So if they held back Speed Racer, Tekkaman Blade, Generator Gawl, Space Ace (Space Ace over genie anyday nigga), and Samurai Pizza Cats their easily most popular characters. Are they hoping to get some motivation to make a sequel through this test run with small lil hints of continuing the franchise as the new pringles replacement? Or is this a one time thing just to cater to the nostalgic? Your own opinion of course.

-Only 2 villains in the game? C’mon <.<. MvC2 might’ve been cut and paste but at least they put more than 2 villains.

-So U.K and U.S are the only ones hot on the game competitive wise?

Done.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes
lolol

MvC2: New Age of Heroes

Still had more than 6 villains.

^& almost 3 times as many characters as TvC overall.
Still a pretty large hero to villain ratio =

I would have definitely expected to see more villains in this game if the roster as a whole was going to be bigger. I definitely think they held back some of Tatsunoko’s most popular characters in hopes of being able to launch a sequel sometime in the future. There’s no other reasonable explanation. I wouldn’t expect more villains in this game before Go Mifune. lmao

People are forgetting that this is a low-budget game.

When does the damage scale?

Who extracts frame data?

I’m glad they started with a smaller roster with it being a new system. If this goes well, they can always plan for more in a revision or sequel.

So how does this actually compare to MvC2? Not in terms of team factors, but actual system mechanics them selves, most notably, flying screen. I haven’t noticed any sort of flying screen animation, but do some of the mechanics remain? Example, doing a luncher, any attack and then followed by a heavy attack in MvC2 will cause knock down and deactivate everything but normal moves (i.e, launcher, specials, supers, assists, super jump cancel etc). In this, will doing something like d/f+C, sj.hk, dj.hk cause knockdown? Any other info is appreciated…

It’s stupid because the game has been out 3 weeks, there’s been no tourneys for it, and barely any chance for people to come up with other crazy shit for other characters to either rival Joe’s shit, or counter it.

Sides, if nothing else, you can just pick up Lightan :looney:

Yeah this ban talk is a little premature. While joe looks a little ridiculous and it’s cool to talk about that, I don’t think it’ll make the matches stupid unless joe just intends to get smashed. That infinite is hard to time consistently and EXTREMELY hard to get started. Starting it out, you have to hit them with a TKed fireball while they’re standing (not jumping), and before you see if that hits, you have to start the next one, meaning if it doesn’t hit (maybe because it’s really easy to see coming) you could be eating basically whatever combo the opponent feels like, and even if it does get hit, you can officially megacrush out of it. (megacrush>advance guard>superjump) Also yeah, lightan or even PTX will demolish this infinite (or any infinite for that matter.) So yeah, there’s really no call to think of this as the end of the world.

What if Blackheart could do that? Cause he can, and there was no Mega Crash against him.

Cable was much worse and now he sucks hardcore. He needed bars, but the opponent couldn?t MegaCrash out of the AHVB.

Gun has a huge hitbox, and is much faster and easier than Voomerangs.

Cable could kill out of a guard break. Joe can?t.

AHVB changes the game completely because it can punish almost anything.
Voomerangs will only hit suckers at full screen.

Both can be comboed, but only one can be MegaCrashed.

Cable?s assist is much better.

Yet, Cable stopped being competitive 4 or 5 years ago.

Spiral/Sabretooth was thought to be completely unescapable, even on block (before the advanced tactics video), which was theoreticaly much more dominant than a Voomerang that needs a hit.

Like I hinted, Blackheart can combo Infernos like Joe can combo Voomerangs, except Infernos control more space and can’t be MegaCrashed (no undizzy too)

Today all those characters suck.

You and Smash players would ban Spiral, Cable, Blackheart and Sabretooth (lol).

Capcom players aren?t that stupid, and whoever read a couple of Sirlin?s or Seth?s articles know better than being a crybaby wanting bans even before the game is played at tournaments.

Don?t be a bitch. Banning ALL secret characters for the sake of the Japanese players is a bad idea, but makes some sense. Now banning Joe because he might theoretically be too good is just stupid. If every single top 8 Evo player uses Joe then maybe you?ll have a case. For now just play the damn thing. Who knows? Joe may end up sucking in tourneys, just like the allmighty Sabretooth

No one’s being a bitch. I’ve always been against character bans, but it seems to me that losing an entire match because half my team got wiped out as a result of me being struck by one projectile that is incredibly easily spammed is a bit over the line.

And when the only way out is to burn 2 meter and some more life?

Every other infinite, minus Marvel Super Heroes, has been based around more than one move, some amount of skill, and large amount of playtesting. In this case, the entire strategy is based on a move combo’ing into ITSELF. If you don’t think that’s the dumbest feature ever put into a fighting game then I just don’t know what to tell you.

In fact, the fact that something like this has been discovered so early into the game should prove to you how dumb it is. But like everything, there’s always got to be someone to disagree, for whatever bias reason they feel like arguing for.

If they allow Joe in tournaments I guarantee you I’ll be the first one winning games by tiger kneeing a special move for 3 minutes straight. And if that doesn’t look like the most boring shit ever, then once again, I don’t know what to tell you.

For the record, just because I’m a national level Smash player doesn’t change the 2002 join date from when I switched account names from the one I registered in 99’. I’ve been a “Capcom player” as you so condescendingly put it for 10 years now, and I’ve been in Smash for about 2. The only reason I even play it was to prove a point to the “Smash kids” that the game wasn’t hard. Also, “Smash kids” have never banned any characters.

And Blackheart certainly could combo infernos, but he sure as hell couldnt spam them twice every second, and HVB used meter. Decent attempt at a structured point of debate though.
