^Except that to land that “infinite” your foe must be at the proper distance, something which is hard to gauge.
Yeah like I said before, you have to hit them standing on the ground, not jumping, not blocking, with a move that’s reasonably easy to see coming. On top of it normally being easy to see coming, in order for it to really be as “ridiculous” as everyone says it is, you have to hit it from a distance, which means they have more time to see it coming, and you pretty much have to do the 2nd one before you can effectively hit confirm, leaving you wide open. Go ahead and try to win a match with a voomerang spam, see how well it works.
Despite how cheap they may seem on paper, situational infinites like Joe’s are rarely useful in a high-level match. The obvious exception to this is MVC2, where it can lead to the rest of the team dying via guardbreaks and whatnot.
Do guard breaks exist in this game? Hope they dont…
“Kobayashi is tired of Dante being whored out.”
:lame: Screw him. Kamiya is the series creator, not him. He ran the series down too. Dante is made for shit like this, and could be Magneto 2.0. Mega Man is more whored out than anyone else on the roster, and Inafune has no problem with him being in anything…
im confused on the complaint.
the infinite still needs some more testing doesnt it?
it wouldnt be the first game with infinites played competitively
hnk was in sbo a couple times over, and that game is retarded with infinites and glitches
we still play mvc2, xvsf, amongst other games that possess infinites
and, well, there is the mega crash. even at the cost of two bars out of a possible five, and some life taken away, at least you can still get out of it, unlike many other infinites of the past in other games.
I have never asked any of these.
No reason to.
Hey, you guys asking about the arcade board eh?
Well, it’s trademarked by Nintendo
Why is there no 4 player mode?
Why only 2 colors and no color edit?
Why are supers so slow?
probably because it never really was a bang when it was introduced in mvc, and i have never heard of any major japanese console tournaments like evo, that would make the team working on tvc want to even waste the thought and time to add a 4 player mode. did any majors in america do 4 player mvc when that was out? i mean, maybe it could have been added easily, but in my personal opinion, i could care less.
who knows. that shit is kinda gay. im sure there is a solid reason, but we wont know unless told in any upcoming interviews. no one can say they dont like to customize they characters, even if its just color changes
like what for example?
But Megaman = Capcom Mascot. Not Dante.
I miss Captain commando
Megaman stole his job. LOL.
I’ve actually started it from Ryu’s fireball assist as well as just about any other projectile assist used during a jump in. And with Joe’s high stun multi hit Instant Air Dash Jump in, it’s not nearly as hard as you make it sound. At the same time, if you time it fall so that they fall into a Voomerang it does a decent amount of chip, and pushblocking doesn’t really affect the speed at which he can throw them. They also tap away projectiles like the Hadoken.
I’m not arguing for the ban at all, because I could care less if he doesn’t get banned. I just want to make sure that playing with him isn’t going to be a total waste of time since he’s quite obviously a little broken.
To set the record straight, I’m not complaining about the existence of an infinite which I help discover, I’m attempting to assess whether or not anyone here agrees with me about it. If no one want’s to ban it them I’m just going to keep playing Joe, if he’s banned I need to find a better character to put my time into.
Yeah pushblocking doesn’t effect the speed he can throw them at, but it does effect the length of your block stun, so that you can jump out of it. Also, if you do a jump-in set up, you’re right next to the person you’re using it on which negates the initial complaint of “you can’t megacrash and knock him away.” I appreciate what you’re saying about not wanting to waste time, but I really don’t think any serious players will want to ban him for this one. The only thing IMO is that he’s not in the arcades, which is relevant for me, but maybe not for you.
lol. I didn’t even knew you played Smash. I thought you would be offended by that and maybe change your views.
On point, just re-read my post. Cable was better in every way except for the meter. Still, having to hit on the ground, with a slow ass voomerang, that can be MCed is way worse than AHVB originally. And HPs were much better than Voomerangs in speed and ease of doing it and comboing it. Now Cable sucks.
BH can’t spam outside of the infinite. Cable can (he’ll die though). O. Sagat can in ST.
The point is that the Allmighty Joe is very far from owning the game right now. If you take Evo by throwing Voomerangs I’ll change my opinion, but so far people should play the game before throwing the ban hamer around.
I missed our last post. IMO, practice Joe and have fun with him. If you prove he owns, that’s better for you, and unless he gets all top 8 spots at Evo easily he’ll be kept in the game. IMO and in the opinion of most other people, it seems.
Well, a friend of mine is planning to host a tournament in this in early February (before Carnival begins), but he’s not planning to have any of the unlockables featured in that tournament (that includes Viewtiful Joe). I suppose it’s for the sake of initial exposure to the game.
But as for Joe, TK’ing Voomerangs repeatedly is tough. I suppose somebody with enough practice can get it down to a science, but that’s going to be rather unfeasible in a tournament match with a constantly moving target. Meh, I suppose there’s a lot more to it than that, but I’d have to agree with the consensus that it’s way too early to discuss banning peeps. Way too early.
On that note, what’s the status on the giants? GWM-like defense, capable of blocking AND doing a crapload of damage. I know a few characters won’t be able to come close to a smart giant player.
The giants have many, many counter-picks and don’t have many options against defensive play. Right now they’re looking to be the worst characters in the game.
However, I want to see PTX at least have a small moment of glory. ;_;
As for Joe’s voomerang infinite, is it confirmed to be escapable with a mixture of megacrash and advanced guard?
Because apparently you can block immediately after doing a megacrash.
Not only that but check out the power supply… look familar?

About banning Joe
How about we have a few tourneys first, and if Joe places really well in them because of this technique, then we’ll talk.
As of now this is “theory fighter” so we should just put it to the test in competitive play. If you think Joe is broken, play him in tournaments, and when you start winning people will come to your side.
If you pick Joe and don’t win, we can all agree that he’s more balanced.
