If someone happens to have an inconvenient DC that suggests a ragequit, and their name appears on the site ONCE, then it is no big deal. No one is really going to take note of that individual. However, only when these disconnects happen often to several people do we have an issue:
A) If you are legitimately having connection issues, you shouldn’t be playing online until it is stable.
B) You are a true puller and disregard proper conduct of the Battle Point system.
Honestly, if you play with integrity, yet your name appears on the sight unjustly, it won’t kill you. People like GuiltyLondon are on a different boat. Of the many ragequits, their notoriety will shine a distinct brightness of douchebagness, and hopefully they will never get a match again.
To say that my personal opinion that his personal opinion is stupid is just ignorant and wrong on so many different levels is just ignorant and wrong on so many different levels.
These analogies were brought up as if to say, "Can you imagine what would happen if we [insert analogy here] based on circumstantial evidence?"
Comparing that to, “Can you imagine what would happen if we accusing some people online of being poor sports based on circumstantial evidence?” brings the conclusion, “Yes, I can… and it wouldn’t be that big of a deal.”
If the weight of the consequences of the actions wasn’t what was being pointed at, then I don’t know what was. And if not, then why mention the analogy in the first place?
I think people bring up certain analogies to assert that any kind of witchhunt or sloppy persecution is wrong in principle, not scale. I can’t speak for them, but that’s my guess.
I have no strong feelings about it, as I don’t even care that the death penalty sometimes executes innocents. I still favor it. So my position on collateral damage is known.
As long as you guys realize there’s a good potential innocent players are getting thrown under the bus that’s fine.
If it’s coming from the “innocent people can be blamed” angle, I’ve acknowledged that a couple of times earlier.
But to be honest, I’m really not that passionate about this either. I’ve just been trying to explain my position, but it’s not getting through, so I’m done, whatever.
Yup that’s pretty much it and the reason why I’ve suggested several times that the DCs posted there should really only be ones that come with hate mail. (Since that proves it is a ragequit)
I agree with Iduno that people who send hate mail are more likely to be guilty of ragequitting, but again the person sending the pics to the blogs might well “forget” to include they messaged 1st saying something like “you ragequitting pussy faggot”. Such a message sets the tone and then they get a message back saying something like “fuck you bitch” they then send a pic of a disconnect and a pic of the message they recieved.
Now you might say that noone would sink so low, but seeing the threads in this community, i’m getting a strong sense that some people here will do exactly that.
So i say again, you can never prove a ragequit unless the accused admits it.
Oh and by the way, from another thread comes this:
So now even if you disconnect AFTER the battle you are called a ragequitter??
And it constitutes an EPIC drop?
This is getting sadder by the day…
Alot of ragequitters dont message first, or even reply.
Like Supernerd21. Ive fought him twice now. Crappy Akuma that I tear up with Gief. I dont get messages back to my GG messages. And I find it highly suspicious that an Akuma has enough BP to come up in my More skilled search as I have 6300, plays that noobishly, and manages to magically disconnect everytime hes in the middle of getting Ultrad in the 2nd round.
I just finished a game and a guy quitted on me right when I was going to finish him off. I msg’d him and he goes “sorry I accidently quitted.” I was like WTF. Damn quitters…ahhh
When is a match technically over and points are awarded? Does anyone even know? It would be interesting to know when is the latest someone can quit and still have it effect points.
Exit to the Xbox dashboard via the Guide button (or the PS3 equivalent via the PS3 button).
Hit the “standby” button on your cable modem.
Yank the ethernet cable, or build a physical switch (there are actually youtube videos showing you how to do this step by step with a $2 light swtich and some crimpers…:annoy:).
