I never rage quit…Cuz I play sf4 online at FFA…(no xbox/ps3 :D)
Some dude named “Marshall Law X” rage quitted on me earlier, then made a comment about the SRK forums, so I decided to check it out. Anybody heard of this guy before? Wish I had a pic.
i watched my roommate get legitimately disconnected immediately after loosing first round to a bad cammy player and then receive a msg from said player accusing him of ragequitting. we sent two offers to rematch and spot first round but got no response. so yea i’ve had connections get dropped on me when i was up a round and i’m sure they weren’t all accidents, but i don’t think you should assume that they are all on purpose either. if a player is caught consistently dropping thats a different story.
This thread continues to get simultaneously gayer and more telling.
:looney::looney::looney:still serious business I see:looney::looney:
I never rage quit… it is just that my terrible Charter Internet drops every 5 minutes and reconnects 30 seconds later, I don’t know what is funnier, how super pissed people get when I get auto disconnected (sometimes even when I’m winning in the 2nd round by a large margin) or the rage messages I get after my internet drops during a match. I guess I should refrain from rank play until i get DSL…
GuiltyLondon deserves an award. I love reading his messages.
This is where the matchmaking system could really use some love. Why not make the system track how often you DC during a match? Track that number and use it as part of the matchmaking algorithm. The higher % of DCs you have during online play, the more likely you’ll be matched with other players that have high DC %. Make them play each other!
Every time my connection poops out on me, I’m usually fighting a hard fought match with someone better than/equal to me. I hate those more than anything.
Here’s my collection since the game came out since I finally learned how to work my goddamn phone:
Well on a side note when I play one of my friends on player matches… I dunno whats up but when Im about to win, we’ve been disconnected a few times.
Now I believe he aint pulling because weve known each other for over 12 years n shit in rl. And well be chatting when I hear the audio go out, then that shit disc. Then he immediately sends a chat request again, so I know its not hims igning off.
we always used to constantly lose chat status when playing call of duty and other games. I just find it amusing its only happened during a super/ultra right before he loses the match.
“The wall of shame” is a great humiliation to our fellow man. There is much at stake here, most seriously the decline of our society. Can one man make such judgement without trial? Should he without sin cast the first screenshot? The moral fibre of the Street Fighter community is under scrutiny here. The holocaust started this way.
Without 100% conviction, the victims of “the wall” face outcast by the ignorant masses. Consider the case of poor Foofmonger, who merely quit because his moves were not coming out properly. Are we comfortable that, yes, for every 100 justified members of “the wall”, we shall also be persecuting at least one innocent man? Only for the sake of our amusement.
I hope, come the apocolypse, you can live with these sins of great wrath. I, however, am of too great moral stature to partake in such a witch hunt.
You are comparing the holocaust to a web page comprised of screenshots of a videogame?
Sarcastic or not, that is hilarious.
By the time OJ Simpson came up, Godwin’s Law was already in full motion. It was only a matter of time.
that’s the last time I read SRK while drinking coffee… I almost did a spit take on my monitor
Another point for the “rage @ ragequitting is ironic and stupid, and needs to stop” camp.
Please explain how this fixes anything. Because from where I’m standing, this is a terrible idea.
Here’s a better solution: if a person disconnects, they get a loss. The other person gets a win. Problem solved; no need to rage @ the “ragequitting” because you’ve lost NOTHING (which is actually already true, and please think about it before disagreeing) and it gives a player the ability to forfeit if they want which, though foolish in a 2D fighter, is hardly a crime.
dude.
It is impossible to give someone a loss that dc’s. Well maybe I shouldnt say impossible, but it wont happen.
When you pull the ethernet or shut off power or quit the game, that obviously terminates your connection and therefore no game statistics can be pulled or pushed at that point.
you would have to cache the match in some sort of third party drive space, neither on your machine or on your opponents, then if someone were to disconnect, the loss would be recorded to the cached information and pushed out to the appropriate PSN id, when they logged back in to PSN.
Now how likely do you think that Sony or Capcom would be to set up some LARGE drive space to cache those credentials for EVERY match played online.
There is no realistic way to punish those people who cheese out when they loose, other than maybe setting up a website where you can post photos and PSN id’s and people can send hate mail to those individuals.
Personally I get a laugh out of it when someone dc’s on me, "wow, my fireballs dont work, my uppers dont work and I cant run backwards any farther… fuck it im out."
Makes me laugh every time.
or they just pull the plug on their ethernet cord/router/modem then plug back in so they don’t have to reload their game.
Wrong. And please, before attempting to incorrectly explain networking mechanics to someone, ensure that he isn’t a former IT person. Or check out HD Remix, which already does what SF4 SHOULD do with a high degree of accuracy. Thanks in advance.
