Yeah, I gotta memorize this one myself and play with it. Alot of my corner pressure game has been lost due to enemies airteching my b&b (I rush 'em down anyways, but it’d be nice to have this as the arsenal expands)
Definately one of the combos to learn and after you have the main B&B down to throw this one in there to keep opponents closer. Tossing out pumpkin/frog on the way down after canceling the 2c seems like it would be great for pressure as well, especially if you learn to toss the frog directly on them when they land.
Newbie here. I’ve decided to go with Rachel as my main, but she’s so damn hard.
What’re the best ways to punish characters with Rachel? Usually I get outranged by the rushdown characters, and sometimes I try to keep the frog and pumpkin out, but often I get rushed down when I’m throwing them out.
When they keep rushing I find the electrochair works really well and hopefully they learn to back off a little bit and be more cautious. Also keep the lobelas things out in the field because your opponent, unless they are clueless, will move alot different across the field and try dashing, which is another good time to electrochair them.
I played a noel earlier today who kept dashing in to avoid my rods and slide kicking into me. I was hit the first time but after that started chairing her, and she kept doing it over and over and over. Pretty easy win for once.
You have to condition your opponent to stay cautious at first. I usually start the round with a nice little high-low game followed by rod tossing, and THEN throw out the pumpkin. Also, anytime you sweep someone (3C) you should throw out the pumpkin as well, or frog. Pumpkin FIRST always, then you can use it to fight off your opponent while you get the frog up and ready.
Bad habit to get into. Don’t rely on the chair much at all. Use it for things you KNOW it will block, or you’ll get punished at high levels of play, almost every time.
Also, if you score a counter hit with it, you can Silpheed them straight down and they’ll come back in time for you to combo them into the air without being able to tech out of it.
The chair isn’t a bad move -per se- it’s just easily countered if your opponent isn’t a vegetable.
If you condition your opponent to block longer than necessary due to possibility of 3c being held and continuing the forward sweep, they will probably not react fast enough in order to block either the pumpkin OR frog.
I like frogging people when they are crouch blocking and going for high/low blockstring mixup into combo shenanigans personally. That and the held 3C does massive guard libra damage if blocked the whole way through.
This is probably a situation where the answer is “don’t get in this situation” but I’m going to ask how to solve it anyway.
Does anyone know what to do If I find myself high above the opponent with no wind left? If I cannon or drill I will whiff and get punished but her other two ariel attacks seem more like air to air attacks so I’m not sure what to do.
So is the only solution to not get into that situation or is there another way out?
Thanks for any help, sorry about the noobish question.
Personally if I am high enough I would try to bait their AA with the c-float then drill. Or float away and if they try and follow double back and cross up with the drill.
I just meant use it to mix up the speed of your decent to bait the AA. I think you might be right about wind to move it, I cant remember, but you can still move to the opposite side with out it and try to cross up the drill.
helpful thread just switched from jin to main rachel. gotta keep working on getting my stuff out faster, always hard to figure out when to get out my frog and stuff D=
Not really practical. I would only use it in the situation you said, above an opponent with nothing to do just to try and bait the AA out so you can drill them. I would rather the move have a better use or just not be in the game.
Well if you play a Noel that does the ariel bnb ending with chain revolver a lot it does end up very practical (ariel bnb leaves you in that position).
I think it’s better to just block or attempt to IB. You prevent yourself from being able to block by activating the float. If you really want to delay your fall and bait an anti-air, just summon a pumpkin midair. You don’t actually have to use it and you can still block afterwards.
Its only real use is float-canceling j.c into another j.c when you don’t want to end your air combo with j.236a.
