|| Rachel Alucard || "lolipop lolipop oooh loli loli lolipop"

Thats great to hear! I have a knack for unknowingly picking characters that have a steeper learning curve, so I expect it now whenever a new game comes and I blindly pick a char without looking at tiers or specifics lol. I can just tell.

What I still can’t figure out is, How do you do her Astral Finish? I didn’t even know she had one till I checked youtube.

222B. It has to be the final round (e.g. the third round if you’re playing best of 3 rounds), your opponent has to be under 20% life, and you have to have 100% meter to use it.

This topics title is so true.

Aight thanks man, I’ll test her astral in the morning.

Didn’t really think about this until mirror matchs were mentioned but does anyone know what happens if two Rachel’s use their wind at once or if another Rachel’s wind will affect your pumpkins and tiny lobellia?

Thanks for any information.

I played a Rachel mirror match on Saturday against Zero000, but neither of us really knew what we were doing, rofl.

And I didn’t know wind effected Lobelias (Lobeliae?). Does it just effect the seed that is shot out?

Yes, wind will affect the speed and the distance of the lobelia projectile. Once it lands and becomes the lightning stick, it does not. Wind will affect all of Rachel’s projectile moves, even frog.

Wind affects everything BUT the frog. As stated the seeds are only afected while they are seeds, once they land they’re bat poles.

It’s been awhile, but I belive in the mirror match the wind from the opponent still pushes you, but not your projectiles… so it’s not like they can use your pumpkin against you.

Doesn’t wind affect frog on summon? Of course, it doesn’t affect it while it’s hopping on the ground.

Lol I was being stupid and thought you meant a ground summon… Yeah it doesn’t do anything then. I thought it was still unaffected with an air summon as well but I can’t get back to the arcade today to test it…

I’ll just check when I get home to be sure.

Ah thanks for confirmation on the 2nd question, that’s a relief.

Yeah that would be pretty broken if they could use your own projectiles against you lol…

But thanks for checking alter, I’m pretty sure the frog is unaffected by wind even when summoned in air tho.

You’re right. Frog is unaffected. I stand corrected.

Thanks for testing it for sure,

If your on the 360 version we should get some games in tomorrow

Also, I know this sounds stupid but most of her combos have to be somewhat precise…

This means you can’t just mash a combo in. For example:

You just landed a 6B CH. Your thinking fuck yeah! Free combo!! So one of my favorites in this case is:

5B 6CD j.C 5B 6CD j.C 5B 3C —> pumpkin oki

But if you mash the inputs out you can be completely screwed… Holding down a button repeats that input for 5 times. So in the start of the combo you got the 5B but you get ahead of your self and hit 6CD but accidentally hold C or hit C a second time… Here’s what Happens:

Her 6C causes her to launch so hitting C again or holding it by accident will cause the j.C to come out too eairly and due to this she’ll be too far off the ground to combo back into 5B. So there goes your big combo, there goes your oki, and you’ve essentially wasted the complete awesomeness of her counterhit fork poke

Long story short, dont mash!!

The thing with her combos are much more timing based than tech (though some of those aerial wind combos are pretty mad hard), like when to cancel 6C to JC, timing to wind people after 3C for combos, etc.

Your right,

It feels really akward at first. Especially like with what you said, winding people down to get them near your before they’re able to tech so you can combo more. IE: like a 2C counterhit. One that gave me a lot of trouble (still does sometimes) is 3C 9D 6C was like WTF kind of input is that???

Did a couple checks on Rachel’s Astral Heat just to be sure.

During activation, Rachel is:

  • Completely invincible
  • Anywhere in the red pillar you are getting killed
  • The move is completely unblockable

Basically, if you’re dumb enough to attack Rachel during the animation (which is very obvious), you’re going to get counterhit Astral Heat.
