Spoiler

Tokyo Game Show.
19:30 = Skittles!! R. Mika vs Cammy

21:39 = cr.HP seems safe on block but hella minus.

21:49 = The R. Mika player decides to use Nadeshiko duing her V-Skill… Theoretically, R. Mika could probably get away with having at least two damage buffs for her throws by the time the opponent closes in on her again.

22:26 = Das Block Punishment

22:53 = Counter hit. Cammy blocked a standing MP from R. Mika… I wonder what the frames are on that. I know it is definitely safe.

1:01:34 = Karin vs R. Mika. The players are seemingly testing things right now. Which is definitely a good thing.

1:02:40 = R. Mika follows up with a Wingless Airplane… she jumped over the defending opponent… After stand LK~MP target combo, R. Mika is very safe and it seems to also give her a bit of elbow room to time a jump or a possible cross up…

1:03:38 = Jump-in CA. R. Mika caught the opponent whiffing.
And, make sure you have headphones on while you listen to that magnificent butt slap sound effect!

1:04:25 = R. Mika uses her air command move to change the trajectory of her jump and to kill the opponents momentum.

Be on the look out for multihit moves while conducting the V-Skill. Have Mika toss the mic early so that she can move on.

1:25:25 = **R. Mika is about to slam her way back into the fight again. **

1:25:47 = Most light normals are plus on block. R. Mika’s cr.LP into st.MK… you may try this to discourage the opponent from moving.

st.LK~MP target combo is delayable.

1:41:03 = More R. MIka time! R. Mika vs Ryu

1:41:50 = Nadeshiko used for R. Mika’s throw set up

1:42:01 = Beautiful anti-air, coming from R. Mika’s cr.HP.

1:43:13 = R. Mika player uses Shooting Peach to get close. It seems like she recovers very quickly on whiff when she lands on the ground because Ryu could not get anything started.

1:43:56 = This going to hurt.
Notice that the R. Mika player had gotten quite a few jump-in combos.

1:49:51 = Next R. Mika match. R. Mika vs Rashid

EDIT:
(Continuing video review)

Spoiler

1:53:02 = I suspect that R. Mika’s st.LK has a 4 frame start up. If a there is a situation where there is a tight punish involved… you can either command grab or just use the target combo.
ALSO. R. Mika can hit confirm with cr.LK, cr.LP, st.LP/cr.LP… (the stand LP should hit mid, still). But, while you are trying to punish stuff, keep your positioning/spacing in mind. Make sure the punishes you use are practical.

2:18:41 = R. Mika vs Karin
Testing Wingless Airplane… The timing on it is a bit specific against opponents who are very high in the air.

2:20:12 = … Are you serious? That’s just two damage buffs! Oh R. Mika…

2:38:24 = R. Mika vs Ken (some brief tests here and there)[/u

3:52:25 = R.Mika vs Rashid (couple of tests)

4:23:11 = R. Mika vs Ryu

4:27:12 = YOLO. It seems risky… but the thing is… the CA still functions as a command grab. Make the opponent suffer for bad block strings.

4:47:53 = **R. Mika vs Ryu **

The microphone has quite a bit of advantage on hit.

Throughout the video, you notice R. Mika players using cr. MK quite a bit. Decent range, good for late anti-airs, good for probably discouraging jumps in general due to its quick recovery.

Nothing Follows

EDIT:
No. Something is following alright. I HAVE to do this.

EDIT: All images fixed.

I’ve been playing R. Mika on the Rashid build at EGX. Don’t think I’ve picked up any new info sadly, but if there’s anything people are still looking to find out I’ll try my best to gather that info on Sunday morning.

Just want to point out that @Great_Dark_Hero and @Neclord are doing Raptor Jesus’ work.

Thank you for the continued video and fan art posts.

Is the images not showing up for anyone else ? Honestly, I just want to get my hand on the game and just play with her already.

All fixed! In case anyone had problems.

They nurfed the hell outta Chun, since her initial unveiling- which is why I jumped from Chun main, to R. Mika main…

Combofiend said that the developers won’t be changing or patching the game much once it hits, so hopefully all of this stuff they’re changing now is just to throw the game into a certain direction they are looking for. I’m sure developers do go through a lot of these changes with other games, except they don’t have 9 month betas and regular play test spots where it’s so transparent.

Chun is still really good IMO and has the fastest walk speed and some of the best buttons in the game. Her V Trigger is still very untapped for white chip damage and juggle potential.

I don’t count her initial unveiling since that was was seemingly an Alpha stage of the game that doesn’t even exist anymore. Very few people even got to play that version of Chun and all I really felt was that she was a bit flashier. The game worked very differently and had different meter gauges at that stage.

I literally see nothing about R.Mika at this stage that makes her seem way stronger than Chun and she doesn’t fit my play style, so I’m good. Karin fits my play sytle more and seems to also have really good walk speed and buttons so she’ll be my secondary.

She’s good in USF4 too w/ the same great walk-speed. But on the tournament scene, she always falls short of the mark. Capcom is taking measures she doesn’t end up like 3rd Strike. And if they make her Fireball like it is on 3rd Strike/SFxTK, I’ll play Chun over any character, period.

She has the same great walk speed, but her anti air game was much more situational. In SFV she has a much easier to utilize AA game where b+HK beats just about everything pretty free and starts up pretty quick at 7 frame start up. b+HP is 6 frame start up and while more situational, can AA as well and is now a crush counter so you’ll get nearly a full V Gauge bar for every crush counter b+HP.

The reason she ended up like she did in 3S was that very few characters had buttons that could challenge hers and had to resort to the parry game against her once she had 2 meters. The main main reason is she has 2 stocks of a super that takes off 40 to 50 percent of your life. Take that out of the equation and 3S Chun is already weaker there. She obviously doesn’t have anything like that in V.

Just because she isn’t 3S Chun doesn’t mean that she won’t be strong and her more solidified AA game already puts her a step above SFIV Chun. Chun’s 3S fireball wasn’t that good and Chun has been good in quite a few SF games without needing to fireball much at all. The risk reward for throwing fireballs in this game is generally in the favor of the opponent. Especially when they have meter.

Either way though, hope you enjoy R.Mika and will be around in the Chun and Karin forums if you decide to go back to Chun or pick up Karin.

This next post is just conjectures and… me just rambling on about the possibilities of R. Mika’s game play.

There are a few things I want to figure out. First of all, I wonder if it is possible to link out of st.LK~st.MP target combo. Because, it was demonstrated several times in the video footages that R. Mika could link into another st.MP or even a st.HP out of st.MP by itself. There is also a such thing as f+MP out of st.MP.
I also want to believe that it is possible to combo into her target combo as well, although the target combo itself is safe on block and is delayable.
Purpose: See if it is possible to link in and out of st.LK~st.MP target combo with other normal moves.

I’d also like to figure out a few things about R. Mika’s V-Skill. Now, getting just one throw damage buff is enough to rub the opponent the wrong, considering the last couple of videos we just watched. I wonder what would happen if R. Mika was to use V-Trigger out of her V-Skill… Mostly likely nothing… but, I’d like to see this tested out at some point for confirmation, as meager as it might seem. I also wonder if there is a hidden method of “speeding up” or a “stalling” for V-Skill power up…
Actually, that sounds a little too diabolical, especially from a design perspective (we don’t want to break the character).
Preexisting methods that I can already name are smacking the opponent a very long distance away, setting up a V-Trigger to have Nadeshiko “shield” R. Mika as she does her V-Skill speech. Another thing to keep in mind that she takes one hit of armor and the player can choose whether or not she throws the on the ground. The next throw would…
Well… I leave the image in your heads. I know lot’s of players here are hella hungry to play against others offline or the Beta at the very least so that they can figure stuff out.

R.Mika vs Ryu below. There is also R. Mika vs Rashin / Ken… (NOTE: We’ve seen these matches before in one of the longer videos that many of us posted within the thread discussion, but they should be worthy looking at against, just for the sake of analysis and building up a conversation.

Jumping HP apparently has a pretty big hit box in front. We can see some meaty pressure going on from there when the opponent is trying to get up from a knockdown.
First video. 6:54 - EX Shooting Peach is a useful move in general, even if it just used to whiff punish at the mid range. It could be one of those type of moves where it is unsafe on block but the punish would have to very tight. Otherwise, the opposing player would attempt a throw because R. Mika is still left very close to the opponent. An R. Mika player in the second player ended the match against Ken in the same way. Using the EX Shooting Peach in the neutral.

EDIT:
Fixed youtube url.

Chun Li’s “non-charge” Fireball, traveling “full screen” - you say wasn’t that good? Please… lol
I’m sure Chun players are confused as to why her fireball is charge, and not like SFxTK. Considering, Lightning Legs matches SFxTK…

Anyway, “IF” they change the fireball distance/commands to match SFxTK, you will see me on Chun forums. But I’ll definitely be hitting up Karen as my second.

But I digress! Its all about R. Mika here… I’m sorry :X

Well you mentioned 3S Chun’s fireball in that sentence too and I know her fireball wasn’t good in that game. You grouped 3S/SFxT together like they both have amazing fireballs LOL. I’m sure her fireball is probably good in SFxT but I never played that much.

Oh and I assume they want Chun to be a more normal attack based Chun like in 3S which a motion fireball would detract from. Which means I probably won’t see you on the forums much LOL. The Chuns I used most were 3S and CVS2 Chuns which both didn’t use fireballs much. You can watch Alpha 3 matches of Chun players on acho and they rarely fireball either. Just normal normal normal until her hands and feet fall off.

R.Mika does look fun though. Be interesting to see what type of setups people come up with using the V Skill mic and V Trigger assists.

@Great_Dark_Hero You know the interesting thing that i noticed just now is that there doesn’t seem to be any armor breaking moves in the game. Like you mentioned in the first video, the Ryu player was using a Tatsu and Mika did her EX SP, she took 1 hit but her attack connected. In SF4 for example, Mika’s armor would have been broken and she would have lost in this scenario. I can see people using her EX SP the same way the used Bane’s overhead punch in Injustice. A somewhat safe armored move with not that much followup that would be used preemptively to beat the other characters moves.

Unfortunately i don’t think that she will be able to link normally after the TC like she can after the st.MP. Judging by other characters and what they are doing with them, this would be too easy of a hit confirm It will also be a Light > Medium > Heavy which they really don’t want . The pushback could also make the links impossible because she does move backwards quite a bit after the TC.

PS. Regarding the 5 hours TGS video : My god the music on that Japan stage is amazing. This is by far the best stage i have seen in a Capcom game in a while. It is just great to look and listen to it.

Hey guys, this is Allen, I played R Mika at the gamestop expo tourney a few weeks ago and ended up getting 2nd place. Combofiend gave me some pointers an hour before the tourney but other than that it was my first r mika experience. I decided to play exclusively her during the tourney because of how fun I found her.

My impressions of r mika:

Really fun character!

her lp spd range is surprisingly far, I didn’t test the K spd range but I think it’s the same. Her K spd does less damage than P spd.

her mp to HP link is easy, as is her mp to f+mp. she can get huge damage if you can hit confirm into one of those into buttslam/whiplash.

Combofiend said she’s the best character in the corner in the game, which I agree with.

I’m actually not a huge fan of her d+mp anti air. At first glance it looks similar to birdie’s but it’s actually worse. The reason is that Birdie’s d+mp archs up and will hit people that jump right on top of his head for a cross up. Mika’s down+mp goes forward a bit like a mini-dragon punch, the problem is that the crossup will either beat it outright or cause it to whiff, and the opponent gets a free combo because they land before the d+mp recovers. This happened a few times during grand finals against the ryu player.

Her super is hilarious and appears to be both an instant grab AND a hit. I caught combofiend in it and he couldn’t jump out, and later he showed me how you can combo into it. The only thing is that R Mika’s ex moves are so good that it’s usually better just to use her meter before getting super anyway.

Her f+mk is a godly poke because it beats low pokes. Her drop kick is great for the same reason, AND the charge up drop kick can be hit confirmed into a stand HP to buttslam for huge damage.

Her down HK slide is great for beating fireballs, I played some casuals against RIP and one game that was super close (we were both almost dead) I timed a slide right under his ryu super fireball that was going to chip me out, it made the fireball whiff and the slide killed him.

Oh another thing that I didn’t know until after playing, after an EX SPD where she calls her partner in to help, you can’t go straight into V-trigger, you have to wait a bit, which threw me off.

Overall I think she’s great, her downsides is a floaty jump and a crossup that is a light attack (lk), which means its hitstun is so low that people can usually just DP or jump away afterwards to escape pressure. Also she felt a bit free on wakeup but granted I didn’t know back then that her ex COD had a hit of armor, or else I probably would have used that a lot more. Neither of her ex spds have any invincibility, they only do more damage.

While there aren’t any armor breakers in the game, any 2-hit combo will break the armor right away. Jabs became prevelent combo starters in SF4 specifically because they blew up Focus Attacks. In addition to that, Ryu has his f.HP, his f.MP, and EX Fireball to blow up armor. It happened against Combofiend when he was first showing off R.Mika against Mike Ross back at PAX. Combofiend tried to blow through a fireball that Mike Ross had thrown with V-Skill to show it off, but the fireball was EX and he got hit.

It might also be wise to be on the look out for characters like Chun Li or Cammy whom have quite a few multi-hit moves (V-Trigger Chun Li for example).

I’m going to leave these here.

(Double Post)
Made a small guide on R. Mika in the following link for a quick reference:
http://pastebin.com/h1rcdFJ9

@Great_Dark_Hero You are putting in a whole lot of effort buddy. I wonder if you have actually managed to get your hands on time with the character ?

Damn that’s a whole lot of work! Good job

I checked what some players thinks about her on twitter… It’s the Rashid build.
LPN thinks she’s retarded and can stun from a combo starting on the ground + a command grab.
Alex Myers thinks she’s the best character atm, even broken and will get nerfed soon.
SimSimIV says she is ridiculously good, read about it HERE and HERE.
Ricky Ortiz says she’s dumb, easy to learn and has too many options up close and damage.

So yeah expect some nerfs coming if it isn’t already done in the Karin build. :frowning:
