R.Mika General Thread: She's Stone Cold

@amrraed im sure most people here may not have even run into a competent ibuki so ill go ahead and explain.

Most of my Season 1 Mika experience is vs higher ranked Mikas in ranked and my friend who uses her. My friend always found Ibuki really annoying and thought the match was in Ibukis favor. She hates fighting Ibuki in general it seems. I fought Joey 300s Super Diamond Mika ranked and won the 2/3 without losing. So I guess that’s something even though he didn’t play as well as I figured.

I personally felt it was in Mikas favor season 1 since the risk reward was generally in Mikas favor. Ibuki had fast walk speed and strong counter poke options that built her V Gauge, but Ibuki cant do anything that will lead to you dying from a range. Main reason people lose to Ibuki is they get antsy in the mid range and press buttons when they don’t need to. At least in season 1 she needed to be at a pretty close range to do anything that would lead to you dying. Whereas all it took from mika is one counter poke or whiff punish with clap and Ibuki could die. C.hp generally when spaced got Mika in well and required a lot of commitment from Ibuki to defend against. V reversal fhk and then pressure her with a meaty. Old V reversal blew up Ibuki pretty bad.

Season 2 is a different story. Those tools are now heavily mitigated or gone while Ibuki still has faster walk speed, more health and better counter poke buttons than what Mika has to offer. Her kunai reloads faster and ex kunao reload allows her to throw considerably more kunais than she could in season 1. Some of Mikas new options may keep the match winnable for Mika, but it definitely looks closer to Ibukis favor in Season 2 without explaining a lot. Ill need to fight more Season 2 Mikas to see where things really are.

I guess Chun would be better vs Ibuki since better buttons, faster walk speed and has a double sided reversal which is good vs Ibukis mix ups

Random pro-tip against Bison.

If you get a knockdown, you can kind of do t.HP (Lady Mika) to catch him if he does wakeup EX Headstomp when he doesn’t have V-Trigger. The timing is pretty tight and I find it’s more consistent to use MP on him. It doesn’t seem like standing LP works too well either unless he’s in the corner and you’re right on top of him.

If Bison is in V-Trigger and does wakeup EX Headstomp. You can’t do anything if you tried to use t.HP but if you did LP, LK, or MP as a meaty you can recover quickly enough to catch Bison’s ass with either jump LK or jump MP. The timing is a little tight.

Anyone knows if Fuudo will stick with her? I’ve being looking for some new matches of him in youtube and nothing yet. Plus, his CFN profile says he played ranking matches last time in September!

I’m pretty sure hes been in some offline streams. Can’t remember if he was using Mika or not. A lot of people made other accounts too.

He appeared twice on Daigo’s stream but didn’t play at all.

It’s nice to visually see why CH s.LP, s.MP, f+MP~MP doesn’t work anymore. -_-

Went through R. Mika’s frame data, check it here.

I only found one stealth change, but I do have a couple other notes:
[] Passion Press, along with the added hurtbox around the feet, also had its hitbox shrunk horizontally.
[
] Passion Press blockstun reduced by 1 frame, combined with Passion Rope Throw’s 13 frame recovery increase, Passion Rope Throw is now -38 on block.

V-reversal, knockdown advantage changed from +20 to +17. (This change is noted but not how much)
In addition, I also corrected uncharged St.hk in my frame data; the start-up is actually 13 frames, not the 16 I was getting at first. The charge window is SUPER early so you can’t hold down the button at all, you hold it even for an extra frame or so after the initial press and you’ll get more than 13 frames of start-up. 13 is the minimum I could get after testing for a while. This is the same as Season 1.

Man, someone at Capcom really hated Mika. They couldn’t even let her keep the LP, MP frame trap unless you’re right the fuck next to them.

I’m officially switching to Birdie. Birdie has everything Mika should have and they stealth buffed his EX Bullhead so it’s -2 on block. And his LK is very good, now if he’s in he can use LK, they block, you can just throw them. They can’t mash out a 3 frame move. Or you could do LKx2 into EX Bullhead to psyche them out and who cares if they block it because you’re still safe.

And I’m mindfucked that Birdie’s MK has more range than Mika’s MK, they both have 8 frames of startup, but Mika’s is -3 when Birdie’s is only -2.

It’s going to be a bitch learning the Sim match but this is better than trying so fucking hard to get in only to make one mistake and basically die. That’s using Mika. That was her in Season 1 but at least she had some decent footsie tools and could turn the tide of a match when she got in. And I’m going to miss Mika’s cr.HP because that is an amazing anti-Dhalsim button.

For shame… oh well.

s.LP~s.MP still works as a frame trap it’s just nowhere near as good as in S1. Main reason is that it no longer leads into Passion Press but almost equally damaging is that s.LP is 4f instead of 3f startup.

This is unsurprising. I give Nuckledu and Luffy three months or less before they debut new characters. If the goal is to win then there’s no point in handicapping yourself at the character select screen. I mean I know Snakeyes got a ton of love for sticking it out with Zangief for all of SFIV and I will certainly concede that no iteration of 'Gief in that game’s lifespan was as good as S1 Mika. I would also point out that no iteration of 'Gief was as limited as S2 seems to be.

Knuckle Du already Guile, and didn’t he show a 3rd character before S1 ended? I expect he will only take out Mika as a troll pick when he knows he can switch characters and win the set. He was already doing this before S1 ended, switching to Guile when someone could beat his Mika. Capcom really had the blinders on when they !@#$ed Mika.

Mika is the new Dan.

By the end of the last CPT season Nuckledu was rotating between Mika, Guile and Nash (in that order of frequency). I expect he’ll keep Mika as at least a pocket character until XaioHai demonstrates an ability to beat him consistently in that matchup. Luffy, I suspect, likes money too much to stick it out with a gimped character that would adversely impact his potential earnings. I would also dispute Capcom having the blinders on with regards to balance. Everyone complained about the character (whether they were actually informed about the character or not), Capcom listened and nerfed her into oblivion. If you want to see balance by dartboard in action I suggest you look at some of the earliest versions of BlazBlue. There is so little rhyme or reason to the changes that most characters receive (or don’t receive) from one version to the next of that game that one would be very justified to call for drug testing for the developers.

You guys are pretty much crazy.

NuckleDu was a Nash and Mika main in Season 1 and then picked up Guile later in Season 1. Yet he still won a lot of very important tournament matches and arguably won more of Capcom Cup with Mika.

You can watch matches of Luffy online now still wrecking people online. Nuckledu won a FT5 tournament vs like 9 other top players who were using supposed top characters.

Firstly, people still suck vs Mika and even when they start sucking less, her corner carry is still ridiculous off most of her conversions and she has pretty much the best corner game in the game. Once she gets you in the corner, especially if she has V Trigger there’s no way you’re getting out without taking damage or dying. Her jump forward game is still OD in a game where there are no frame 1 meterless DPs. Anti airing her is still a bitch. You only need to miss one AA vs her or one dash up grab to push you to the corner and start wrecking you still. The nerfs to frame 1 DPs basically up her pressure as there’s no longer these 4 characters that can meterlessly disrespect her on wake up or last frame clean anti air her.

The downplay is perfect for Mika players because they can just go unnoticed still wrecking people in a game that’s basically better built for them than season 1 was.

Pretty sure Fuudo still mains Mika. Du, Fuudo, and Luffy have all strongly indicated that they were sticking with Mika on Twitter.

Whining isn’t the Mika way. She is clearly still viable. If she isn’t /fun/ to you anymore that is fine. Some of us still find her quite fun. Additionally, SFV is a two fighter game by design. Everyone is going to have a sub. It is too balanced for there not to be that sort of strat as the main meta.

Was Ibuki’s main BNB taken away from her? Did your character have ‘meh’ footsies and then they were nerfed so they went from ‘meh’ to ‘ass.’ Was her best comeback mechanic, the V-Trigger nerfed in any way? No? Than Shaddup.

This thread is great for laughs. Mika is still very viable, but if you as a player are ass, your Mika will be ass.

Adapt or cry. Pick one.

I am watching some footage of the Season 2 videos for Luffy. I don’t know, I just don’t like his play for some reason.

I never liked Luffy’s Mika even in Season 1. It doesn’t look to me like he is playing particularly well but he finds way to wins.

Liffy reminds me of Wolfkrone where he does questionable things that you would see more from lower level players, but he has the reaction and reads to make it work any way.

He beat Mago at Capcom Cup with just going forward and jumping forward with her j.lk or splash until it worked. She will still work for him in Season 2. She still carries to the corner well and once you’re there you Mika them to death

So if Capcom nerfed Laura (which will probably happen at some point), they nerfed Guile and let’s say they took away his cr.MP into Boom combo and made some of his other shit worse, you’d be sitting the character threads saying “Git gud scrubs lol.” Is that right?
