Any tips for landing smp shp to super. I keep getting her command throw and its starting to get on my nerves

At what point are you entering a forward command? Super is just down to back, not forward down back.

Try going into training and turning on the input display, see where the forward is entered, and practice avoiding it.

Are you on a stick or pad?

OMG, i always thought command throw was qcb p or k. This might solve everything. But what concerns me now is how ive been getting all my commands when i thought it was QCB all this time.

Certain commands can be entered with a “shortcut”

Such as any 360 throw such as gief’s spd can actually be input with as little as 632147 if you are familiar with numerical notation. Mika’s throws can be entered with 3214.

Hitting that diagonal on a 214 or 236 input can be common if you don’t exercise very strict input control. This would explain why you would be getting the throw instead of the super as well, since a 32143214 p input would give you a throw.

Do you play on a pad or stick?

I use stick. Man my inputs are sloppy. I always thought i had great execution too. i found that doing it slower helps since i can cancel pretty late

Yeah, I hear you. I’m not sure how I would grade my execution overall. On the one hand I can do what are probably the most difficult combos in Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late pretty consistently. On the other hand if my opponents knew how often they crossed me up and in my attempt at defense I instead rolled over too many inputs and command grabbed them instead they’d probably be pretty pissed.

It’s all the new people who don’t know how to play street fighter. She doesn’t even have a “vortex” it’s just a reset where she ALWAYS lands in front of you except for 2 notable situations, regular launch F.hp if you try to jump, and cr.mp xx V trigger reset. Only during those times can she go crossup or stay in front, otherwise, she’s only in front. This isn’t an akuma SF4 sweep or ibuki neckbreaker vortex we’re talking about here. People always have to bitch about something I guess. I really hope capcom doesn’t change this about her, I really like how she is right now.

what up, been playing mika since beta, but i just havent had much success :anguished: coming from Ryu(usf4) to Mika. i just cant get in or do the best combos. also due the lack of training ive been doing i cant expect much from my gameplay. i keep jumping to much its predictable, not using her mp/mk enough . i keep messing up the follow up of the whip throw . but im hanging in there . i have maybe 2 videos uploaded in the video section. i just started streaming on twitch through ps4 so i can see all my mistakes. there was a thread where the discord channel was posted where do i find that? so i can ask people for more input and to play some sets with

is it just me or is mika raw shk underrated. People are always charging it. I like to throw it out at the end of some of my blockstrings and people are always mashing a crouching normal. Free crush counter confirm into ex peach

I tried this out in some matches and I found it was a decent poke. It was really good against Karin who typically wins pokes at that range with her c.mk and c.hk, which completely lose to the s.hk as you lose your lower hit box.

The odd thing is that while I often beat out their pokes, it was rarely a crush counter… I normally got just a wiff punish. Eh, free damage is free damage :slight_smile: And since that is the range where Karin typically takes the turn from you, it’s good to give her one last poke on the way out haha.

I’ve been running through the town square raving about her s.hk for a bit now. I love it. Fuudo also seems to like it, so I feel somewhat safe in my current opinion :wink:

The key is distance - it’s really difficult for most of the cast to punish at range.

I suspect it’s because of the slow start-up - i.e., by the time it goes active, they’ve already entered active or recovery frames, so no counter.

I get crush counter very very often with raw shk. You have to do it at certain ranges at the end of certain strings. Its very satisfying.

Cammys super is the ultimate whiff punish. If it had good invincibility I think everyone would be using her. You can stuff it with a lot of buttons and rightfully so
