R.Mika General Thread: She's Stone Cold

if you complete all 10 trials per character, you get 5000 exp for that character and any Fight Money that might come with the levels gained

Ah good. Thanks for the know.

Apparently the nerf Marn was talking about is real

What nerf?

Wow, did the 1F increase in the up jump really kill the lk mix-up Marn loves?

Fucking people have no idea about the mechanics of the game. Also his j. lk mixup was not good enough for him to be crying about =( It looked cute though and everyone’s going to jerk off about it. Those are people that suck ass with Mika.

The people that steal that are going to have shitty timing and get jabbed on their wakeups, or have their throws jumped and wonder why it somehow consistently doesn’t work for them. Then they’ll post on here or eventhubs about how Mika is bottom tier.

Oh also they’ll get meatied with proper timing, fail to wake up with qcf+pp (which isn’t a wakeup for mika to begin with) and then when it gets stuffed they’ll freak out and switch to Nash and start throwing shit and following it so they can safely hit buttons without knowing the game.

As I mention earlier on this page the mixup still works if you use cr.MK instead of s.MK. Whether it’s any good or not depends on how much your opponent likes blocking.

I’m well aware I didn’t want to include that in my post, it’d make it too complicated unfortunately. It’d lead to a bunch of questions and now it’s too late =P.

There’s a bunch of people wanting to phone it in with Mika that are going to fail now and I’d really like to keep her as my at least secondary character.

The big secret about Mika is that she’s fucking hard to win with and has bad matchups across the board. But no one will believe that because one player did 15 jumps a game and got away with it. If you or I did that bullshit we’d get anti aired as many times as it would take to die. But Marn was better and timed it just right to where he’d jump just as the opponent attempted normals so he’d get blocked jumpins. Then they’d clam up and he’d get away with a few more.

No one thinks Marn is any good though and they don’t appreciate that (I’ve watched the matches multiple times, he played amazingly well). I’d challenge him to do it again, he probably couldn’t. But he played exceptional footsies that time to make top 4.

is ex fist smashing (not sure the correct name) good to use to retaliate on wake up? not sure why but it seems inconsistent. sometimes I get beat by standing punches or it doesn’t come out:(

Apparently not. I was informed a few posts above not to use it on wake up. It loses to a lot more than you’d think. Meaties, grabs, lows… They all shut it down. Unless you time it to beat something specific instead of using it as a ā€œGet Out of Jail Freeā€ card, you’ll just end up wasting your meter.

No.

Mika’s qcf+pp isn’t invincible at all on wakeup. Also it doesn’t even have armor on the first move, that was a nerf from long ago. So like if Cammy does f+hk and knees you in the face as you’re waking up, you WILL get touched by it and you can’t beat it out.

If I as Mika, knock YOU down as Mika, and you stand up into my f+fp since it has multiple active frames. Or even s. mp with its active frames. If I time it right, your wakeup qcf+pp will fail. As Mika you’re better off making the decision to block and/or v reversal. Or jump. (or maybe wakeup super if you have full meter heh)

Mika has no ā€œget off meā€ move when she wakes up. The qcf+pp is only sufficent against poorly spaced meaties.

The EX Peach does not have armor for the first 1-3 frames, it is no safer than a jab for start up. When you’re waking up your opponent is going to want something active within the first 1-2 frames to beat a jab. It’s the same timing we try to use for Lady Mika and other mix ups that we do. If any move they do gets hit by an ex peach, it would also have been hit by a wake up jab. You’re betting on your opponent not being good… Which can sometimes pay off, but will happen less and less the better you get.

ex.peach doesn’t get armour until the 3rd frame. Feel free to use it on wake-up, but:
[list]
[] it won’t beat meaties or wake-up traps
[
] it only has 1 hit of armour

Enough people thought he was good enough to shout him a ticket to the states to compete in a non-premium CPT event.

It’s not like the guy had one lucky match against some decent player - he smashed top player after top player, made it out of the death pool, and worked his way up to top 4. Love him or hate him, there’s no doubting he can play at a high level. Yeah, he likes gimmicks and relies on Ume-everything, but his spacing and execution are on point.

best mika get off me move is ex wingless or v-reverse. Sadly. Otherwise just block, jab, or jump.

I’m pretty frustrated with s.hk being Mika’s 2nd crush counter…

It’s like - I don’t do s.hk to counter an opponents move. It can be used to punish ONLY ex srk from Ken and any Cammy srk, there aren’t any other moves where it is a good punish…

The s.hk is used to open the opponent up. When I do it I have something I plan on doing next whether it hits or misses. It’s a set up move.

The problem is that everything I would normally do after the s.hk would miss because the CC pushes the opponent too far back… Everything I would do if it does CC is a horrible decision if it doesn’t… It’s such a trap crush counter… I wonder if it would be better if it just didn’t CC at all :\

i dont remember if that’s a product of her beta nerfs or not but it’s pretty ridiculous. I’m a noob, but: Trying to find ways to capitalize off crush counters has been a trying time. I just wish there was a button I could press after I get a crush counter instead of 20 different possibilities. Sometimes I’d rather it just NOT be a crush counter if they’re going to not let me do anything afterwards :frowning:

Mika’s s.hk is one of my favourite moves - I’m always throwing that thing around. So good against opponents that like c.mk-style pokes.

If you haven’t already seen it, there was a series of Fuudo matches linked from the front news page a little while ago (http://shoryuken.com/2016/03/28/fuudo-kichijojiken-face-off-in-lengthy-street-fighter-v-set/) and a short way into the set, he nails a CC off s.hk perfectly.

If people had been punishing the blatantly unsafe shit that Marn was getting away with I don’t know if he’d have made it out of pools. The number of blocked and unpunished Passion Presses and EX Shooting Peaches was, quit frankly, depressing.

Whether you like Marn or not is one thing but if someone genuinely doesn’t think he’s good at fighting games then all they’re doing is self-identifying as a moron.
