They want you to use the v-skill
does anyone have setups for her f+s.fp? I honestly have no idea how to use this thing or when to use it.
It’s a frame trap move, and actually plus on block. You wanna use it as a meaty attack on your opponent’s wakeup, or after something like a s.lp or s.mp. You can crush counter them and followup with a juggle combo. It’s a good anti air too.
s. mp more imo. It whiff punishes everything.
Maybe you rushed in too soon? I played as Mika last night on survival mode after some one on one time with Bison. Having Bison as a sparring partner really forced me to hone my block game and punish like crazy.
Don’t give up. You’ll get it soon.
Anyone have tips for punishing some of the spammers? I keep losing to trash Ryu’s or Ken’s just jumping away, random hurricane kicks when I try to play neutral game, or eating wakeup shoryu’s (I always seem to block when they don’t feel like mashing). Really struggling to catch anyone to get my hands on them.
Start by realizing their moves may not be random. They are playing a zoning game. They condition you to fire balls, to which the answer is to jump… and then they punish you for jumping by doing an anti air move.
If you do not respect your opponent, and understand what they are thinking, you cannot overcome it.
So the question should be - how do you beat the fireball game.
Mika has a few tools to break apart the fire ball game.
You can play passive, accept the fireballs, go full screen and alternate between v-skill armor blocking them, and neutral jumping them. This changes the game as they have to come to you. If they don’t, then as you get the v-meter built up you can react with an v-trigger to punish their fireball, and ultimately if they never give up the game you will win with a life lead on time out. What is more likely to happen though is they will try to punish your v-skill, or at least advance to another type of game as you’ve rendered their zone ineffective.
When they advance, you want to keep that distance close, since they can revert to the zone game if they get a life lead and are able to reset distance.
You can also play more aggressive against the fire ball game. Look to neutral jump and ease in to a range where you can jump in over their fire ball and punish, or slide under with c.hk. These can be a bit riskier imo because their game plan is based on you trying to overcome the fire ball game, and a wrong move can equal punish, so I would recommend the passive game. Rather than beating their game, remove it. Force them to come to you.
What are some useful things for me to do on wake up, besides EX butt? Getting killed on wake up, I need some advice
Block or cr.jab seems to be great options.
Alright I’ll practice utilizing those.
Are there any other meterless mixup options off that midscreen irish whip? Currently going for cr. HP into brimstone.
I would say that is best meterless option.
new Street Fighter player here, i’m never good at this game but do fine on 3D fighters, i can understand some FG concepts but have trouble making the transition.
any tips on how to improve my defenses? I’m getting pummelled on wakeup. Or getting opened up by low pokes. is it safe to just Crouch guard most of the time?
I also whiff my buttons often, i’m having trouble recognizing what range to use which buttons, i realized it’s the pushbacks from block stun that’s messing with my perception, how do i improve on this? in 3D fighters whiffing usually mean getting punished hard so im being very hesistent to push buttons.
what are some common or safe block strings i can do when on the offence? I know charged HK or Cr HP into throw mixup, what else can i do at other ranges?
what can I do on an opponent’s wake up?
thanks!
I’m in training mode messing around with the corner irish whip reset. So 6HP 2mp to reset the opponent.
While doing my training mode recordings I noticed the opponent can mash jabs to escape my Brimstone/Rainbow typhoon attempts. Hell the jabs even stuff the EX versions. Is there another option I could do out of the 2mp punish the jab?
Hey guys, I recently picked up Mika, and I like her a lot, but I don’t know what her best pokes/footsie tools are, so I was wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions?
Forward heavy punch or 6HP. If they’re mashing anything and you timed it properly they’ll be crush countered into oblivion. I always do this first to get them to stop mashing which sets up the throw game later. 6HP is plus 3 on block too so you get the world if its blocked or it hits.
I’m having issues remembering my promo/v-skill. Some matches I’ll be on top of it, other times blank until it’s late match and I’m wondering why me meter isn’t full and it hits me. I know the open is a good chance to back and charge a bit, helps bait an action. Other opportunities?
That’s a non-combo option. You can also irish whip, back dash (to force the wall bounce), forward dash, Wingless Airplane.
Am I missing something for cross ups other than cross up with air LK, LK, command grab?
That makes sense. What moves can I follow up with since I’m +3 on block
EDIT: Post removed, really only works against players unfamiliar with the game.
