I knew who he is, I just don’t give two fucks when a junkie dies. Add to that the fact that every time a celeb dies, people go out of their way to discus how tragic it is. Did he deserve to die? Nope. Should I give even the teensiest shit? Nope.
One of my best friends OD’d years ago and was dumped in an abandoned building rather than taken to a hospital.
I have ZERO respect for idiots who ignore all the warnings and stick junk in their body. I don’t want pity for being a smoker. No if u want to not be an addict, how’s about never doing it in the first place. Cancer is a disease. HIV is a disease. Addiction is weakness.
I’m not judging Seymour, I only speak for myself. If I had his money I could sustain a heroin addiction for the rest of my life. With amount of money I currently make I’d be broke after a few months, that’s the only reason why I’d kill myself. I remember watching a documentary on heroin addiction presented by Russel Brand, a former heroin addict told him she used to spend $500 a day on heroin and he replied is that all?
eh, I had a friend tell me that taking cocaine for the first time felt like drinking coffee without milk, it did nothing for him and this guy never takes drugs. Maybe you’re right, I don’t know because I’ve never tried cocaine.
Well that makes me wonder why heroin addicts don’t take codeine instead? its a lot cheaper. People who have an addiction to Codeine don’t spend more than $50 a week. You can buy it over the counter in most pharmacies in the Europe. It comes mixed with either ibuprofen or paracetamol in packs of 32 tablets, with 8mg of the active codeine ingredient in each tablet.
Addiction is also genetic. Addiction IS a disease, this is a MEDICAL FACT and not my opinion.
Many heroin addicts start by taking legally prescribed pain killers usually after an injury. After a while you build a tolerance and have to use more and more pills to feel high or even normal, eventually they switch to heroin because it’s much cheaper than buying 100 vicodin a day off the street.
There’s a way to avoid building a tolerance, but I don’t think srk’s the place to discuss such things, lol. Addiction is a problem that needs to be treated but I don’t think it can be classified as being both genetic and a disease.
It IS a disease, it has proven biological, genetic, environmental and neurological sources of origin. An addict’s brain has a dysfunction in the reward, motivation, memory and related circuitry. Their brain is basically rewired to put the same priority on drugs as it does air, food and water. This is why addicts will go through extreme illogical measures to obtain their “high” (although don’t really get high from it any more after a certain point). Again, this is a medical fact, not an opinion.
*Ironic. I heard about his death right after I finished watching The Panic in Needle Park. Guy was a talented actor but he threw his life away. Shame. What I’m really shocked about, however, is how the law is going after who sold him the drugs. Thousands of people die from Heroin a year, I’ll go out on a limb and say most of them didn’t receive an investigation on who sold the drugs to them.
I thought that had something to do with someone out there lacing fentanyl with heroin which is pretty much just selling somebody a death ticket if there is too much fentanyl present.
I read Janis Joplins biography written by her sister. She mentions that generally heroin is actually safe. But it causes a poly drug effect, and when combined with other drugs or alcohol, turns fatal.
This is true, heroin is actually VERY safe except for the part where you OD. Heroin does no damage to you either short or long term (again, the exception being a deadly OD). This is why doctors use opiates for painkillers (morphine, dilaudid, hydrocodone, oxycodone etc are all opiates with varying degrees of strength), because it doesn’t hurt your body. Heroin addicts look so sickly because of the horrible eating and hygiene habits addicts tend to have.
Not that I recommend trying heroin since if you get addicted you have around a 1 in 10 chance of beating it.
lol. Codeine isn’t morphine. its a derivative found in poppy plants of the same class of drugs heroin and morphine belong to. Codeine is significantly weaker than morphine and has more widespread use in every day pain medication. its a step up from acetomophine or iboprufene. its usually sold in over the counter cough medicine or prescribed by doctors after a nasty tooth surgery.
yhe threshold and strength between codeine and morphine is by orders of several magnitudes.
My mom is a huge hippy, and loved Janis. She had the book, and it made good poop reading. I barely remember a thing about that book except Janis’ boyfriend hit on her sister before the funeral, Janis used to wear cowboy boots while she fucked guys, so she could rip their beds to shit, she partied with the Grateful Dead before any of them were famous at some random cabin, and that heroin bit.
I still have zero respect for her for being a fucking junkie. I think the ONLY heroin addict I would give a pass that I can think of is Kurt Cobain, and even then he fucked Courtney Love so that’s like negative five billion passes.
Besides, culture was different back then, and those people ARE the reason why people today shouldn’t be retarded fuckwads who try heroin.
