R.I.P Guilty Gear

All the Guilty Gear players that are sad about their game not getting in to EVO and are bored out of their minds can join the drinking tournament I’m running at the penny slots. Entry fee is one dollar.

Guilty Gear players were completely in the wrong and CvS2 players had absolutely no issues regarding these things. It’s not something to fight about, but if that is seriously the main reasoning behind dropping Guilty Gear, especially when I experienced and read of these problems affecting other games much more so than Guilty Gear, that’s depressing. Especially considering all of the factors which make Guilty Gear more eligible.

the only thing it said was 5 in the comment

and as far as ignorant its not really ignorant considering ever since cvs2 was announced theres still like 4 active gg threads with people disguising the same damn whining over and over again its been beaten to death gg is out and nothing will change that at all, so there is no use for stupid ass threads like this. plus im only directing the remarks to the morons that are misrepresenting the gg community for every idiot that complains about the decision thinking its some big ass conspiracy i see about 4 more being professional about it and accepting and understanding the staffs decision.

So is this because the CVS2 community is more committed, or because GGXX is a team tournament and teammates are more likely to wander off while their team captain is there to secure the post? GGXX really is getting shitted on if you’re really trying to use the players’ “lack of dedication” as some kind of scapegoat, when it’s pretty simple to see the actual cause of delays: the team format.

If the CVS2 community was really more committed, 100s of players would not have dropped the game over the years. Therefore, I have to call bullshit on your post while you continue to make fake excuses rather than deliver the real reason: you guys just don’t like a small handful of GGXX players, and you’re friends with the top CVS2 players. You want to deliver one more round of CVS2, despite the fact that it will draw fewer entries, and let the (already grown and proven) GGXX community hobble for a year, while scapegoating the community using social engineering. You’ve been building it up for a whole year by telling the GGXX community that it’s “their fault”. It could just be marn’s fault! We all know he’s unreliable.

If that is not taking a giant fecal dump on the thriving GGXX community, then I don’t know what it is.

Again, whether or not GGXX is in the tournament doesn’t bother me that much. I play other games and will support Evo no matter what, but if GGXX was my main game, I’d be ready to hang up the towel.

Either way, you’re not helping the situation.

The bottom line is that it’s sad that one of these games had to be dropped. IMHO, they both deserved to be in. But like Ink says, there’s a time constraint problem and so one of them had to go. Yes, it’s sad for the GG players, and it would’ve been sad for the CvS2 crowd had it gone the other way. I really wouldn’t take any of this too personally. I’m sure it was a very hard choice to make. With that said, if I was part of the GG crowd, I’d definitely show up at Evo and help make GG the biggest side tourney ever!

On a tangent, this does make me wonder about something that may be too early to talk about: What’s gonna happen next year? Next year, a number of potentially big new games will be out(SF4, Blaze Blue, KOF12, etc). Even if only one of these games becomes big, we’ll still have too many games to fit in the current format. I’m just curious if it’s possible that Evo will be expanded in either size or time to allow for all these great games?

wELL more Tv’s for Marvel MMs. LOl

I’m all for the more games the merrier, but seriously now, the decision has been made and we have to deal with it. first off, i’m unbiased because in my opinion, both games suck ass and i would be saying the same thing to the cvs2 players. if the GG crowd is so dedicated, bring a projector, the systems, and the people–throw a huge side tournament and prove your dedication. you get lemons you make lemonade, not crybaby piss.

now this reminds me of Showdown Championships 1, where CVS2 was taken out and everyone threw a shitfit–but at that point, side tournaments were strictly banned so i can see why people got super upset. at evo, it seems you are welcome to throw your own side tourney, so i don’t see why people don’t just do it themselves. look at the MBAC crew and what they’ve done.

if you’re that dedicated, then just do it. otherwise, just deal with it. close this thread cause it sucks donkey balls.

Let’s get something straight here, guys. The Evo staff is making decisions on what’s best for the event itself and how to run it successfully. It’s not the Evo Staff’s responsibility to break their necks to accomodate everyone, to foster every community. That’s the responsibility of the community itself.

Taking steps to make sure the event that’s (rather graciously) run FOR the community is a success is NOT an act out against any one community. It’s unfortunately that it was GG this time around, but that’s life. No one is taking a huge shit on anyone.

Ask not what EVO can do for your community, but what your community can do for EVO.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Victims of said social engineering. I, for one, am saddened that so few people are able to express their real opinion out of fear of their tournament game being further shunned by Evo staff.

SRK.com . . . not a democracy. Scare tactics do not build a healthy community, and in the end, will leave everyone with a bitter taste in their mouths.

Well I dont see the point to complain bottom line is its srks tournament and obviously anything said isnt going to make gg come back. So fighting about how it should be there is only going to hurt the community.

I guess just hope people care about it next year and it comes back? For the mean time lets all play a good game like smash! Pika pika!

Nobody is trying to make Guilty Gear suddenly reappear in the line-up, but I think somebody deserves a real, logical reason for disincluding it.

Learning about why their game wasn’t included with a non-Public Relations/Snide response would be the most fruitful thing to come of the announcement.

This is a very naive mindset. It’s clear to anyone with half a brain that is aware of the FGC that GG is much bigger than cvs2 at this point. Yet, it gets rejected and a dying game takes its place. So clearly what we can do for Evo is not enough.

man. can’t say i didn’t see this coming

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I would just like to thank all those who suported to giving it the boot. we stuck together. made a better avatar. and in the end we were too strong and prevailed. here’s to an evo that will no doubt be gr8er than any other years combined. and it will smell a lil better. and be less gayer.

You’re missing the point. I said that specifically in defense of the validity of inkblot’s (in my eyes) frank and honest explanation that the Evo Staff made the decision to ensure they could run a successful event. Please don’t take things out of context.

Why not just send Bas his check now and not waste the time? That way there can still be a AC tournament!

Rabble rabble rabble!!!

My mistake then. I mean it is pretty obvious that choosing a less populated game will ensure a successful completion of the event in a timely fashion. So cvs2 was definitely the right choice.

Sarcasm aside, for a professional event that Evo claims itself to be, all you need to ensure the event runs smooth is strict rules to prevent fiasco like this.

in all seriousness (because i honestly don’t know the answer at all) but does anyone have any statistical data on attendance for cvs2 and gg? all i know is that smash and 3s dominated

I know CVS2 pushed over a 100 people but not much more than that. GG…probably around the same numbers if you count all the players in the teams. The difference I would say mainly is that GG has shot up in tourney attendance just in the first half of this year alone. Especially with Final Round where the pre reg attendance is literally a nose ahead of 3S. Beating 3S numbers is truly GDLK.
