R.I.P Guilty Gear

no fate but what we make.

Im looking for Charles Bennet Dyson.

Evo has always been, is now, and will always be dominated by Capcom games. Whether the people running this show have a beef with Gear or not isn’t going to change that. You shouldn’t bother giving credence to that “catered to hand and foot” idea anyways because it doesn’t matter.

When a game gets taken off the list for Evo, it can go two ways: Alpha 3 or Third Strike.

You can whine like a bitch and complain and proclaim that being slighted by like 5 people in Cali have caused kidney failure in your dog by taking it out and you’re on hunger strike until they bring it back. And every time someone uses a sentence with “guilty” or “gear” in the future, you shit your pants and drop a tantrum.

OR

You hold your own tourneys, you make your own hype, and you remove all doubt that this was a mistake. Run Gear opposite CvS2. Run two tournaments in the time it takes them to run one. Double the attendance. Make them afraid to post their numbers because they’ll get laughed at and written off.

Don’t complain about things you can’t change. Make the people that made those decisions wonder how much money they gave up.

I have been surprised.

So since the decision was not made to retaliate against GG, it was made for the overall betterness of Evo by helping the tournament to run on time.

I see.

Can you explain how including CVS2 is beneficial to maintaining your strict time constraints (insert lol’s)?

Or do you honestly believe that having CVS2 will bring more players to the tournament? Do you feel that if you don’t include CVS2, the game will die, while GGXX will still live on for years to come? If so, why do you choose to continue supporting a dead game?

I really want to believe you and I think we would all love to see a logical explanation for the decision. “Because it’s better” isn’t a real explanation.

Alternately, you could enforce your own tournament’s rules and disqualify players/teams that aren’t present?

cosign.

I like it.

Ok, the “hand and foot” comment was probably over the top, but ever since running XX instead of Reload three (or was it four?) years ago, the GGXX community has ultimately had their way at all Evo tournaments. Yes, we held polls to validate each decision, but the right decision was made. The idea that Evo has it in for GG when GG has gotten nearly everything it’s asked for over the past several years is absurd.

learn2read?

You must really believe it’s some huge conspiracy to keep GG out of evo lol. I’m sure if they didn’t want it there, they would’ve never had it in previous years.

The guilty gear people negging folks just proves the point of how you act when someone tells the truth lol

Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The rules are enforced, but what’s the right rule?

When to DQ someone? After 5 seconds? 1 minute? 5 minutes? The time window has to be long enough to accommodate honest absences like bathroom breaks. The difference is that a much larger percentage of GG players take advantage of these rules to go do other stuff instead of focusing on the tournament. Adding just one minute to 30% of the matches in a 150 person tournament adds over 1 1/2 HOURS to the schedule.

Since we’re comparing this to CvS2, it’s not uncommon to run an entire CvS2 pool with 90 to 100% of the matches running one right after the other with no wait time. The bane of CvS2 is excessive stick borrowing, but this is way less of a problem than people just disappearing in the middle of a tournament.

The level of commitment to the actual event is simply higher in the CvS2 community – and it shows.

By the way, the overall theme that if only Evo Staff wasn’t so incompetent then we would surely be able to include GGXX too is a super winning argument.

This happens on SRK all the time, regardless of what game a person may play. Pretty much it comes down to if you’re not a premium and a premium disagrees with your post, you’re going to get negged. That’s a pretty igorant statement you made, since everyone is guilty of doing this.

He probably got a comment along with it :/.

Once again, the actions of a few players causes the entire community to suffer? Weren’t there going to be stricter rules to deal with this anyways? I remember these (the first and second) being a discussed as a problem for other games even more so than for Guilty Gear (in fact, Guilty Gear was hardly if at all brought up if I remember correctly) after 2k7 ended. As for willingness to compromise, GG itself runs fast enough that we haven’t needed to (as those time issues were caused by the players which messed up,) so we’re being penalized for this? GGAC runs very quickly at what I’ve experienced running it myself, and I don’t remember Evo West taking a particularly long time. To blame the entire Guilty Gear community for these things and act as if CvS2 players have never caused any time constraint problems seems ridiculous to me. To make the decision to keep CvS2 in over GG over this solely, or even as a large component to the decision seems equally as ridiculous.

Nobody is arguing that bad decisions have been made regarding GG, in fact the majority of us who wanted AC last evo still greatly appreciate the decision to change it. I can’t speak for the previous years because I wasn’t part of the Guilty Gear community then. People are arguing that Guitly Gear is getting unfair treatment now though, and I tend to agree if you take into the account how many times the scene has now had to defend itself over last year’s finals alone, and due to it’s removal despite everything we who actively support the game have tried to keep it in.

Further discussion just seems pointless at this point, sadly.

I’d imagine so, since you’re required to comment when you neg someone.

No you arent, you can just say I disaprove. They only neg the people they feel safe negging usually.

What? Isn’t that what I just said? :wonder: I said you have to leave a comment when you neg someone, as opposed to when you give someone rep and you don’t have to leave a comment. I’m confused here. :frowning:

Please see my post regarding the rules above.

GGAC is a great, game but how does it being or not being on Evo change anything. Since when do 200 people playing a game correspond to at least a million of players that actively play it? Most of which most likely don’t even know Evo exists. Who are you to sayyou should run a game because it gets X amount of people, and drop another because it gets less. Is it your tournament? Are you paying for it? No, and if you don’t like it, don’t attend. You pay for Evo as a service, just because you pay for something, doesn’t mean your entitled to have it your way. Its the same thing as going to McDonalds, buy a cheeseburger, and demand a whooper, just because you like the whooper better? Who cares? Go to Burger King (Another Tourny), or take McDonalds cheeseburger and shut up.

If your complaining because you feel Evo can be used as a catapult for more mainstream coverage of your game, yes it can, but being there officially or as JChensor mentioned there doesn’t need to be a official tournament for that, make your presence felt at BYOC, or host your own tournament. Don’t like Evo’s decision, boycott it SILENTLY by not attending, no one is important enough that they will be missed dearly, this is a game after all. Crying complaining, etc, is ridiculous, no one cares, if your attending or not.

Otherwise I hope everyone has fun there, I could care less if ats Evo or anywhere, I enjoy the game regardless, if it does make it there again, and I have a chance to play, its extra kudos.

Typo, I have never seem anyone have to leave a comment before.
