Quitting SFIV, and it's because there is no competition

That’s cool. Thing is U.S. places are so far and the internet is not as good as asian countries (Korea, Japan, probably Singapore as well)

Next time Capcom needs to test things out in U.S. and not just Japan. Watching some of Poongko’s matches and seein green bars all the time, crazy.

These threads about people being angry at online play because they suck are almost as annoying as SFIV wishlist threads and Sagat rage threads…

In all seriousness, SFIV online is the best compared to other fighting games online like KOF12 or MKvsDC.

So keeping it alive by posting a comment like that will certainly help it die off faster?

oh wait…

Can’t agree. Some people live off of it, others die by it, it depends on the character. Some characters are equipped to deal with it thanks to frame advantage. Other characters, like Dhalsim, have no frame advantages and their lifeblood is anti-airs which are all determined by timing. Even timed right will either trade or get beaten and its over at that point.

anyone know of any good places to play in or near manassas Virginia? i just moved out here about a week ago.

Check around here. You’ll prolly find somethin’.

I didnt think there was any competitive sf4 play around my area either but I searched these forums and actually found a little community that holds tournaments and practice sessions. Its not SoCal craziness but its something and if your desperate enough you could always start your own tourneys and see what happens. I can’t stand online play either but I think most of that stems from me wanting to be face to face with the person I’m playing, its more fun.

I hate the online in SF 4. It’s maddening. There’s no reason why I get more SRKs out playing Super Turbo on GGPO then on SF4 when the SF4 input window is about a million times bigger then the ST one. I know ggpo is far from perfect but…god damn, sometimes it feels like night and day after playing a few SF 4 matches.

I really want to like SF 4, but the online really turns me off. And I’m not even talking about the shitty interface and matchmaking.

And I too wish I had an arcade.

DUDE. REGIONAL MATCHMAKING FORUMS. It’s been said but deserves to be said over and over. If you can’t find people there, make a flier and staple that bitch all over, go onto a school campus, go near gamestop, make it know that you’re out there and down to play.

Before I ever joined SRK I did this at my college and their were plenty of people down to play. I eventually moved to CA and within twenty-four hours of my first post in regional matchmaking I was at someone’s house playing some of the best people in NorCal. It’s not hard, it just takes a bit of effort.

Regional matchmaking is fine, but how am I going to play Street Fighter IV at 4 in the morning in my underwear?

I don’t think that all online is evil. I love using GGPO. It’s not perfect but I’m willing to work around it’s faults because it’s mostly very good. Street Fighter IV’s online is inexcusable though. It’s one step away from having online on the level of a SNK XBLA game.

thanks guys i completely forgot about the regional matchmaking forums.

Berkeley is a BIT different  I love the co-ops though.

Hi, first post here.

Bought the game ten days ago, and my skill I suppose is what you call “scrub”. Don’t quit a game you like only for technical problems, all games have lag.

Sometimes I feel handicapped because I can’t block attacks even knowing the move, and knowing few and still not being able to put it in practice hurts a little.

This is only a game, I am a lot better in other games but never take them seriously. The moment I focus only in winning a match of whatever game you want, the fun dissipates and it is like a work, not a game, and tend to not accept losses due to the inevitable technical problems and rigidness of thought.

Online games have their good and bad things, same as offline! Just enjoy your game!

Take a break after you feel burned and you will regain interest!

No matter what you can lead a scrub to water but you can’t make him think.

I can’t even count how many times I’ve told posters about regional forums. Most posters just have this mental block of " There is no one in my area. " wahhhhh :frowning:

Local play is fantastic I love it and can never get enough of it. " Just did a 6 hour session of 3s and 4 with a friend "

We actually have this guy at our local tournament who shows up in his ryu head band, and taunts / re-inacts his ultra " even if it whiffs ". Funniest thing is he plays sagat. At the latest tournament he was paired against some 10 year old in which he beat and did sagats win pose staring down at the kid.

EDIT: GGPO has some bigheaded fucking people.
Remy player half assing " LoV machine gun"
xXxdaragexXx - No one plays remy like me. Even the jap’s don’t do what I do. *refering to Sonic boom machine gun *

^ I’m glad to see you put me in your quote =) I guess you enjoyed all that LOV i showed you hahaha. If you want some more you know where to find me ; )

Lucky for me I found a scene at my college so I’m looking forward to play some people offline for once…

Well said! :nunchuck:

lol Rage you didn’t play me. You played NeedCollegeLoan *only been playing the game for 3 years / SpanishJap * an OG * I was behind them watching as you ran your mouth endlessly over a simple sonic boom machinegun. Then when you were having a hard time you wouldn’t switch to remy =/ You stuck to ken and duddley who you got hit by spanish/japs cross counter like what 3 times? lol who gets hit with that.

Your just pressing buttons!!!

I lost cause its lagging!

You don’t deserve my remy!

Japanese don’t do what I do!

When he went to switch to urien you quit the game =/

good play cvs2 instead
its a much better game
not trash like this sf4

There’s an arcade for me I can go to, however, it’s a bit of a drive, so I dont get the opportunity to play local as much as I would want.

Yea, online may not be perfect, and there may be timing/lag spikes issues more often than I’d like, but I still feel it’s done much to improve my game.

It’s just tough to find good opponents sometimes, but patience is key.
