Question about console play for TS5

I just want to know this simple question. Why can’t we play CVS2, III strike, and GGXRE on a xbox? I personally can only play with the original xbox controller and there aren’t any converters out there that allow me to use it on a PS2. But there are plenty of converters out there for PS2 controllers to play on a xbox. I seriously cannot play with any PS2 controllers. The Street Fighter anniv. pad is an almost, but the D-pad isn’t as good as the xbox D-pad (plus I keep hitting start on it!) I really want to play alot of games at TS5 since I’ve never been but I can’t play to my full potential if I can’t use my whale pad!

p.s. and no I can’t use an arcade stick 4 shit! except on mvc2 since there aren’t any double motion specials :razzy:

All of them will be on ps2 for the fact that cvs2 isn’t on xbox only eo. Most of the US play on the ps2 versions of 3s and ggxxr. Tekken 5 is only on ps2 therefor will add another game to the ps2 system and lessens the need of an x-box. Sorry but that’s how it is and that’s how it’s going go to be across the US so if u wanna play in tournaments then ur gonna have to get used to a ps2 pad or learn how to play on a stick. Also me and LG will be throwing a x-box tourney for cvs2 so u can use ur pad in that small side tournament.

It’s just not fair!!! I got all three games on xbox and they all play the same as on ps2. Cvs2, people just need to pick Ac-ism. They can all convert to xbox! I WILL EVEN PROVIDE MY XBOX!!!

Is LG going 2 have the tourny on the same day? and at what time?

O and another thing, I want to know all the people who play Live that are going 2 be there. So how will I know who plays live? probably old-fashioned asking huh.

CvS2 EO grooves aren’t the only thing that is different, RC’s are taken out, and there are super cancels. Just post the in the Live forum if you’re interested in finding the people or do like you said and just ask.

Yeah.
Not to mention ALOT of converter problems have been happening in past tournaments when they use games like #Reload for the Xbox.

Also, alot more people own PS2s than people who own Xboxs, so…

Yea I can understand why they don’t wanna use xbox cvs2 becuase of RCs and stuff but the other games I just don’t understand. I have a converter that works fine with all my games exept III strike and I have no problems. I only bought the converter becuase people play me on ps2 and beat me and I say play me on xbox and you can use your ps2 controller on it with this converter, then they do and I win and their like " O, man I need 2 be playing this game on a ps2 to win" wtf!

You’re better off learning a joystick in 3 weeks, honestly.

then it’s settled. I will buy that arcade stick i’ve been seeing at gamecrazy, the 1 that works with all systems and I will learn it.!

Dude go to stargate and and you’ll get all the joystick practice u need. And yea u need a ps2 stick. U can buy it there or order a mas stick or get someone to make u a custom stick. I know a few ppl who make them if you want one.

If you can come to San Antonio, I can lend you mine. Its a competition stick, works really well.

  • PS2 is, and always has been, the standard since Dreamcast died.

  • CVS2 isn’t on X-Box, it’s a modified version for scrubs called CVS2: EO. Also, X-Box has a problem accepting adapters to adapt from a PSX/PS2 controller or joystick signal. There is no universal adapter that will work perfectly with any joystick–most adapters will either cause even more input lag OR will cause the d-pad/joystick to occasionally glitch out. Top it off with the fact that X-Box won’t even display these games correctly in Progressive Scan!

You are in the same category as the guys who play Soul Calibur 2 exclusively on a Gamecube controller. If you want to compete in tournaments, you gotta learn the way everyone else does it–Joystick or PS2 pad. Nobody is going to go out of their way to please some whiner who is just going to go 0-2 in the tournament anyway. How can you expect to compete in a tournament if you don’t even know the differences in the console versions? You have no potential at any of the games at TS5–you’re not even really practicing the same game if you’re playing the X-Box versions.

This isn’t just a console war, either. We’re not all diehard Sony fans–PS2 just happens to be the only system that has perfect versions of all the major fighting games (except for MVC2) and is also the ONLY system that has games such as VF4: Evo and Tekken 5.

My advice: it’s about time to pick up a PS2.

Well I’m pretty sure if I could use my standard controller I would go a little farther than 0-2 in any of the games I will be playing, but if I have 2 all of a sudden adapt to something new, I won’t have the same chances that I would have using my prefered pad. And I do know the differences between console versions but I don’t see what that has 2 do with anyone competing in a tournament. I’ve been playing these games for a long time and i’m a pretty decent player at all I do play. and yes, I learned how to play CVS2 on a xbox and I don’t rely on broken game glitches to win. I’ve also played against people who roll cancel at stargate, on an arcade stick and I’ve won alot of matches. I’m not trying 2 say i’m the best, but you can’t say I have “NO POTENTIAL” just because I learned how 2 play a game on a console.

Suavion.

P.s. Legendary Gokou thanks 4 the offer on the arcade stick man, but I’m gonna just keep practicing with my anniv. pad. It will take me a while 2 learn a stick!

The DC and PS2 have pretty much been the standard console version’s of all 3 games you listed for over 90% of the major console tournaments in the past 3 years, that itself should have been an indication. We also listed what console we were holding the console tournaments on the original planning thread back in August. I’m sorry, but complaining about not being used to what the tournament is using is like Clay court tennis players complaining about playing at Wimbledon.

You heard him guys–the 100s of us that are going to Texas Showdown 5 have to learn X-Box pad now! Sorry, it just wouldn’t be fair to Suavion otherwise =/

Because nobody does?

Thats fine, but trust me man. Its better to learn joystick now. Take it from someone who could do most links and cancels from CvS2 on the Xbox S-pad making the transition to joystick. I’m still struggling with joystick, but its better this way. I can use my joystick for both PS2 and Xbox.

Ok, your just trying 2 be funny now. I have stated more than once(AND EVEN IN MY 1ST POST) that people who use PS2’s can use a converter to play on a xbox. I even have one that works fine with ps2 controllers and arcade sticks. I just know a group of people who are in the same boat as I am. We play on Live and do ok, but go 2 arcades and do not do so well simply becuase we never use arcade sticks. Now I haven’t tried using my converter with all brands of arcade sticks so I can see Y it would be an issue. But i’m a player so I will learn another joystick or controller and go and do some damage at TS5. I’ve come 2 realize that the gaming world revolves around PS2 and their needs( sheit, I can’t even believe I ask the question from the start! )

We’re not trying to insult you or anything, but this is just the way it is and it’s not going to change. If you want to be taken serious, you’ll have to adapt.

Btw, make sure you come to our XBox Live tournament before TS5. I wanted to play on PS2 but if you want Xbox pad then we can play on XBox.

Yea i’ll be there for sure. I have a couple of homeboys coming from tyler texas. I had 2 beg them 2 come since ts5 was ps2 out.hey Gokou, what time and where will your tourny be? I need details!
