So I’m going to be ordering my acrylic case VERY soon (Like as soon as my eBay auctions end) and I would like some help with the parts I’m going to need.
My plan is to use a six-axis controller PCB. I don’t need it to work on a 360, and I have no soldering iron, or soldering iron experience, so I was going to go with Toodles Axisdapter Board. That way I can have a rechargeable wireless fightstick. I really need to know what else I’m going to need. I’d like to order all my parts on lizardlick so I can pay for shipping only once.
Here’s what I have figured out, please tell me if I’m wrong, or if you have a better suggestion.
Six-Axis controller
Toodles Axisdapter Board
Sanwa JLF-TP-8T Joystick (Only because it comes with the wiring harness, which I imagine would make the process a lot easier)
Sanwa OBSF-30 30mm pushbuttons
Quick connects (Not sure which one’s I need for the OBSF buttons)
Wire, obviously
Please please please tell me what I’m missing. I would also LOVE to add a LED to my bubble-top. How hard would it be to do that if I bought the hollow shaft?
Yeah, I forgot about the 24mm buttons. I’m getting a few of those for the home, start, select, L2, and R2 buttons for the side/back panel.
I was wondering about the USB jack. Since I’m going to use a six axis, would it be possible to plug a short USB cable into PCB, plug that into a Neutrik NAUSB-W A/B USB Feed-Through, then when I want to charge it, plug it into that? I ask because I’ve had some problems with the PS3 reading certain devices through a USB extension cable.
How were you planning on charging the battery? Having the cable always sticking out of the stick? I thought about just leaving about a foot of USB cable out of it, but I want to go as clean as possible.
I’d HIGHLY recommend you use R1 and R2 as your Fierce and Roundhouse buttons, and use L1 and L2 for the 24mm ‘other’ buttons on the side/back. It’s the default layout for just about everything, and since the L1 and L2 have to use a different common line that the four face buttons and R1 and R2, it’ll help prevent you from making a common wiring mistake. Remember, Dpad and L1 and L2 use one common, while the four face buttons R1 and R2 use the other. Read over the wiring section of the Instructable.
Using a short mini-B to A cable to connect the SIXAXIS board to a pass through A-to-B neutrik is very common and works great.
Trying to get an LED going depends entirely on your soldering skill. It would require some surface mount soldering to pull off. I’d recommend holding off on it for now, getting the stick working as planned, and then consider the LED after everything is up and working.
I plan on using a pass through, but not a neutrik. Something like: http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/6803/usbb.png
This requires soldering though. I just like the look of this on the side of my stick rather than a neutrik.
By the way, is having it wireless an absolute deal breaker? You could go with a PS3 Cthulu and get a 15’ usb cable (which works fine… I am using one now lol)
Yeah, I really want it to be wireless. My PS3 sits on a shelf above the tv, and Wires are just not an option. I have two SE sticks, which I can play with, but it’s a pain in the butt to mess with not getting the wire in front of the TV when I play. It’d also be nice to be able to turn off the system and just put the stick aside without having to remove the cable and wind it up every time.
Is this the right adapter? Neutrik NAUSB-W-B A/B USB Feed-Through, Black
One side mini and the other a normal USB? I need a way to hook the sixaxis board through and I’m kind of confused about what I need to buy.
If I get these two items will I be set? Or am I missing something?
