Putting her feet in your face. (Juri Combo Thread)

Anyone try switch canceling off 2nd impact? I did some experimenting in practice and found out that you can actually make Shikusen safe and safely switch in your partner…though the ttiming is strict it can pay off. Wouldn’t it be nice to SC from half-full screen safely? Also if you slightly mistime it it then actds a a frame trap…though I’m trying to figure out how big of a gap there is. I managed to Sc off 2nd impact and keep a trueblockstring with a 5-7f normal move. 2nd impact is only -6 on block.

Wait did I say -6?..THAT’S SUPER PUNISHABLE!!! yeah…that’s why you SC off it. If you got moves that have armour propreties then you can easily blow through any attempted attack (that’s not a throw) and carry on. Or invincible if you wish. This is if you think you mistime it. But hey, high risk…high reward. I’m still practicing it myself. man being able to SC off 90% of my special moves is so awesome. And be safe.

Also I have come to the concluison that Kasatushi’s I-frames are 19f long. with the rest being cancelable into pretty much anything. Funny thing, say Vega starts to cr.claw you.

Here is Vega’ cr.lp data

start up: 4
active: 2
recovery: 10

Now normally if you counter cr.lp/lk, your opponent is left at +9-10 on “block”. However…certain…situations…could arise for you.

Let’s do some simple math.

4+2+10= 16 correct? cool.

now we use Kasatushi on vega’s 1st active frame of cr.lp. add that up…we get 11. 11 frames he has to recover. Now Vega wishes to attempt another cr.lp…it whiffs because we are still invincible…so what’s 16+11? 27…what does this mean? well since kasatushi makes Juri invincible for 19f 19-11 is 8. So the start up and active frames of Vega’s 2nd cr.lp whiff and he goes into recovery. Therefore you can if he decides to mash or boost combo you can actually punish him for it. Of course If you counter the first cr.lp he can just block…but if he decides to not block and mash cr.lp you WILL win everytime. since he’s stuck in the recovery period and unable to further attack. You normally can’t unish he he doesn’t take action after the 1st cr.lp…but if he does he’s stuck in the recovery period…

I know this may sound confusing at first but I tested this…and it works. believe it or not.

Less maths, more videos. Maths hurt my head :frowning:

I wish I could do videos…alas…I cannot.

I experimented with that in the lab before, but it’s so difficult to do that I deemed it impractical for actual use in my current team. It might be better on a different partner though.

Also, if Shikusen is blocked 2nd Impact and 3rd Strike will whiff if you aim high, making the switch impossible. It’s possible for 2nd Impact to hit if you aim low,

However, if the first strike hits too low it might be difficult to follow it up with your own combo.

When I started with Juri I used to spam 2nd Impact and 3rd Strike, but Darkphyre advised me that I should stop doing that and I finally managed to heed his advice after a few more matches. It will be hard for me to get using those Shikusen follow-ups back into my system again. XD

I feel like trying to switch cancel off of the dive kick just a bad idea. In higher levels of play people are just going to alpha counter you anyway. Besides, Juri has one of the best switch cancels in the game with her pinwheel kick. It’s just my opinion, but I feel like 2nd impact and 3rd strike are fairly useless in this game : /

You just assume you’ll get cross canceled then you might as well pack your bags and quit then. You don’t think outside the box.

No I’m just assuming my opponents are competent players. With the alpha counter there’s really no such thing as a safe tag in this game.

If you’re tagging in Juri you can easily beat all alpha counters…the hell you worried about?

Can anyone check if this still works in 2013? I have a feeling the second cr hp will miss due to the nerf.

cr.hp xx L dive kick > cr.hp xx M dive kick > st.hp xx L senpusha (334)

You will need to dive kick above the shoulders in order to land close enough for the second cr.hp

Only works in the corner, but the LK Wheelkick doesn’t connect : /

if you do Fuhajin store instead you get 287. Really not worth it.

Well for solo combos in the corner you can just do mp/mk H Fuhajin cl.hp, L senpusha 322 easily.

Yes, he was referring to being able to do the combo mid-screen. He was right that it’s not possible because of the c.HP hitbox nerf.

So SJ’ing from full screen then go into \shiksen will connect on an opponent. crouching or standing leaving you at -3 or -4. Now if you follow-up with 2nd impact you’ll be at -5 and the pushback is increased. allowing you to become unpunishable by…say 80% of the moves in the game. there is only 9 SA that will punish you for this and that’s it. There may be some normal moves that could punish you but if they can it’s like they need perfect timing in order to do it since the pushback from 2nd impact is far too great to punish with anything that’s 3-4f normal. I don’t think there is a single 3-4f normal in the game that can punish 2nd impact after it’s pushback from full screen.

It’s nice to finally find a means to use SJ’ing. Normally using Shikusen from full screen won’t reach your opponent. Also I’ve found out that Juri’s j.hk can cross-up on crouching opponents whether blocking or not blocking…but it won’t cross-up on standing opponents (well it will cross-up on certain big characters like King, Hugo, Jack-X, but not gief…unless my spacing was wrong.) Really wierd…but nice nonetheless.

Man, I love Juri’s Cross Cancel. It has got to be one of the best in the game despite is kinda slow startup. There are only 2 things missing from it. FBI frames from startup to the 2nd active frame and a slightly quicker startup. If it had those it would be the best in the game. (Right now it sits at 2nd or 3rd place.)

I’d like it if it would stop whiffing at ranges other than point-blank. >.>

Good point…eh not a huge deal but something to consider.

Yeah, as of recent I have to agree it’s not as bad as I thought… though that’s probably because Marduk’s is soooo bad lol. Still, it does need a better hitbox.

This is just something I came up with for corner purposes and wanting to utilize Juri’s dash for mix-ups and whatnot. This is just one of the two setups, this setup allows the use of dash and Sekku to confuse the opponent and not make wake-up attacks easy to pull off or hesitate to do. It won’t make reversals auto correct since the opponent will be facing you when you’re able to recover anyway, however you are left at enough advantage to throw out a 5f move. I tested this with having the opponent jump after QRing. I was able to connect with cr.mp during their pre-jump frames on the 1st pre-jump frame. you’re even able to launch a 6f attack and still beat out 3f normals.

Basically in simple terms, opponent presses non invincible buttons they get CH every time. backdashing for the opponent is probably not recommended since they’re already have their back towads the corner anyway, they can’t jump away in time. The opponent has two options, block or invincible.

Now for the characters that Sekku can’t cross up after this setup you’re still at an advantage…it just didn’t cross up…but it puts Juri’s back to the corner (Some may think it’s a bad thing…to me kinda not really…but you know… whatever takes yeah fancy). Anyway, I love this etup since I have the advantage puts 3/4 of the cast back into the corner, no meter required (unless you plan Sc’ing for combo’s and whatnot), You’re safe from harm.

Also for characters like Law you won’t have to worry abour any invincible’s from him since all his are slow startup which means you can meaty with cl.lk (15 frames total of the move) and if the cl.lk whiffs throw out kasatushi, free combo for you. It will make Law think twice about throwing that FFR or flipper.

I’ll post the other setup when I’m done going through all the characters to see who it works on.

This works midscreen against some characters too. I’m using another setup (which I don’t remember atm), but I’m sure yours works the same way. I have only tested it against a few characters, but I know it works on Chun-Li.

I’m taking this one step at a time. It most likely works on midscreen opponents. I haven’t gotten around to testing it yet though.
