I’m just curious…how many of you guys actually play Juri in tournaments? I also want to give my congrats on the front page feature 
lol no tournaments where i am, just play locally with alot of people, i can win consistently with her, but ill hopefully be trying out my luck with her if there any UK majors in the near future. Id travel to other parts of Europe if i werent a poor student.

Your commentary was good, what with the sexy Juri imitations and all! Easy to understand and very thorough demonstrations too, good pacing and everything.
For improvements, I noticed the video quality is less than stellar, lots of compression artifacts for some reason. While not a big deal, if the artifacts don’t originate from your recording tools you could see if you could use higher quality compression to get rid of them? Just minor detail really, I’m kind of a HD buff :woot:
Btw, interesting comment on the video from skatanmilla about smart followups after blocked fuhajin store. I’ve always just defaulted to cr.MK without giving it more thought. Have to pay attention to that next time I’m in training room.
I do always play Juri, although there are rarely tournaments in Finland and I haven’t had much opportunities to travel into Europe. My success has been limited though, didn’t win a single pool game in the last big tourney I went to. Next time!
I actually didn’t even have a regular alt before, except Chun-Li whom I played in vanilla (but barely at all in Super). I’ve been looking at Makoto recently as a character I could play when I want to just take it easy, since she seems fun and will be getting better in AE. Already ventured into ranked and cracked some Ryu nuts while screaming “Seichusen Godantsuki!”
lol really? theres not much you can do on -1 and fuha kick puts quite a ways away unless your in the corner. You can FADC a bare (lol fadc a bear) fireball and get a chance on a 50/50, high/low or grab/st.mk/hp, other than that youre just tempting fate, youre pretty much right back where you started.
Actually that being said something i like to do is after a fireball kick in the corner throw out ex mid fuhajin and jumpin, sometimes they take the bait stand block, eat chip and find it difficult to AA the jumpin (if you stored lk fuhajin you should still have that to start pressure).
I’ve used Juri in every tournament I’ve being at, although it hasn’t being many to begin with. I was a newb at my first two so I got destroyed, my most recent tournament nerves got the better of me and I didn’t get out of groups as a result.
I’ve had better luck at a league where at the first session, I won 6 out my 8 matches ( the standard was fairly low, though, tbh ) although the nest time, I only won 2 of my matches as I was out of practice as the Xbox RRODed a few weeks before.
Hopefully next year I’ll do even better and hopefully win my first tournament as well, it would be funny if that was to happen AFTER the AE DLC dropped.
Yes, in theory there are some things about this that are NOT practical about this. For an example, i walk up a bit in the video and I could have been poked out of this, or reversaled. The whole point is mixing up your opponent and keeping them guessing. If you used this once or twice in a set it would have been a surprise. Plus, look at that shit. If you’ve never seen that kind of pressure before you’re really not going to even remember what happened!!! I’ve been in the corner with some good juri’s from here and there are times where im like “shit if they threw me at anytime i’d be fucked because I cant really keep up with all the normals and fireballs coming my way”
ANd thats whats juri is suppose to excel at. You only really get good at defending that when you guess correctly, you have retarded good reactions or you’ve played enough juri.

Thats why i showed the fireball reset in that video. I had a guy at a tourney turn to me “try ending you combos with pinwheel”.
Im like “yea, a little nervous honestly, but I will when I wanna give you a break from my pressure or wanna back off a bit”.
Her kick doesn’t do a lot of damage but its quick, and allows a VERY fast quick rise. That works against you because you let me keep the momentum. Thats bad.
So yes and no. You’re absolutely right in saying that there are gaps and not as safe as I might present it…but you would be wrong if you would (and I dont think you did) say it wouldnt work.
lol i agree. it would make sense, according to her story, she mastered the art of tae kwon do at age 15, crazy and yet a college girl like u said is able to do much more when shes up close.
i aint mad though, im fine with the current juri, as it is her first installment in the series, the potentials there in adding stuff in into her game. itll be a matter of time till Capcom gets it right with her. she did kill seth after all, making her the new leader of S.I.N, so Capcoms gonna have to do something in order of making her more “worthy” to that title lol, im just babbling away so take it for what its worth :P.
btw, congrats on the hubs feature, its some good shit too, gonna practice those fuzzy guard fbs.

I feel its easy to get too obsessed with “safe”. Look at Makoto, not a move on her list thats + on block, and she is still very scary when in your face.
Its just something you need to acknowledge personally “if they know the frame data here, they may do something”. Many people know that after blocked dive kick they can just mash jab to get you off. But if they abuse it too much, next time they eat a EX pinwheel. Fewer online players react right to a blocked FA lvl1/2. Usually I can just continue pressure like I was Chun-Li (Juri is -3 after FA lv1, she’s no china girl). You need to take calculated risks.
You can do fuhajin store from max range and instantly release it to punish people for pressing buttons, for example.
i figured that was obligatory and went without saying 
that minimixup is storing lk for moving forward and pressing buttons and you store a hk on block if you think they will jump. The gap is pretty big though between lk store (blocked) and lk release, theres alot they can do.
an update on this actually, i may very well be making my way down/up to Switzerland to play at Beat By Tournament, im obviously going to go because its good crack, its not often ill have a chance to see Tokido, Mago, Sako, Justin, Marn and Ricky (what with living in the UK) but yeah ill be sporting Juri most likely because i know my Abel still isnt tournament worthy, so best i at least rep miss Han.

pretty exciting match vs chun li. There is something i’d like someone to look at. On round 2 I used ex-pinwheel and it didn’t come out at all so chun just walks up to me and ex legs into ultra for free… unless the ex legs stuffed my ex-pinwheel? I can’t tell but from what i can see it didnt come out at all. Maybe it lagged out? -.- It’s at 1:19

As for inputs I checked and it looked correct. Maybe when im less lazy ill just film that one part with it on and re-upload it. I just wanted to know if ex legs somehow beat out ex pinwheel because it seems like if a newborn sneezed on that move it would stuff it. Speaking of which please tell me they fixed that in AE… D:
they didnt and well…the way it works is the move with the most invinvibility frames to persist until yours end will win, if they expire round the same time you trade, but from what ive saw anyway you didnt even start the move up.
ok, thanks. And yeah i looked closely in that vid and it seems my Juri just stood there all like herp derp :B It’s very possible it’s my connection. I’ve had times when my character freezes/charge/moves lag out (it’s not my stick it’s my shitty wireless connection- I’ve done offline before and i never have those issues but im getting an upgrade next week. I don’t think they run fiber optics in my area so fml. It will still be better.)
best thing to do is run a ethernet cable from your router all the way up to your room. I have like a 30 meter cat 6 ethernet cable from the living room running up to my room, it terminates in a 4 port switch which i connect my ps3/xbox/laptop to. Pretty handy and its a fairly cheapish setup.
You could get more into detail and look into HDMI display lag, big LCD tvs dont stream the gameplay visually in sync with whats actually happenning, its to do with post processing on the tvs hdmi port and the upscaling of the feed (if you have a big tv). Chances are the bigger the tv the more display lag, though there are tvs that dont have this problem (google search Evo monitor), otherwise you can look into getting yourself a VGA cable for xbox, looks like this:

And make sure your tv is set to “game mode” that usually helps, theres a test you can do using the rock band 2 setup to see how much lag your tv has but i duno how it works, ud have to google that.
