Really awesome matches with Infiltration’s Juri. I’m glad to see how far he’s brought Juri. I agree that the Sagat never really understood what range he wanted to be at… he looked to be at a complete loss from full screen (Juri can keep up in the fireball war and is highly rewarded for jumping -> dive kick over a fireball), and midscreen Juri was doing whatever she wanted with her pokes. Close range it looked like Sagat more or less relied on just random TU which worked sometimes and got him killed others.
Whenever FSE was active, Sagat had no idea what to do, which was great to see (I really like this ultra and I think it’s got great applications). Delays in FSE normals cause counterhits if Sagat wants to press a button, so Sagat’s best option is to just try to TU an overhead on reaction, I would think. Meanwhile, Juri can apply nearly unlimited pressure with fireball stores and try to catch Sagat unaware from sweep range (st.mp has really deceptive range).
To Kail: Sagat is -2 (I think -2) after blocked DP FADC, just like Ryu and other DP characters are. After FADCing his own uppercut, he can block a Ryu reversal, but 1+1 grab ultras like Guy U2 or Ibuki U1 will be unavoidable if they’re reversal’D. So Juri can’t hit Sagat here.
Also, after watching this video, I don’t really understand how you guys can discuss whether or not Juri has the tools she needs to win (in that other thread). You can argue the Sagat player didn’t know the matchup (and you’re probably right), but Juri’s tools are good on paper and are put into practice really well in this video. The potential is clearly there.
until someone starts repping her better in tourneys, i cant take casual matchs to heart. The potenial is there, of course there is ive known since evo. Also yeah that Sagat was generally pretty below par, but juri generally does well against Sagat who also has a balls walk speed and a similar jump arc.
It’s very easy to say he doesn’t have the tools. My argument was offense is what counts in this game. Look at the match… Sagat when he got in on her she couldn’t do anything. She had to use meter. It’s nothing matchup knowledge won’t fix.
With knowledge, it makes juri have to guess hard. And even guessing right she still loses.
Lol. Cammy doing cs, jab jab walk up throw = ex pin gets thrown. That’s bad.
So yes. If sagat knew the match it wouldn’t be lopsided.
Yes, Juri has to play defense. I’m fine with that. She can force other people to play defense too, though, or prevent herself from getting in that position in the first place. Anyway.
Playing defense with Juri tends to be incredibly risky, in my opinion. I generally make it my first priority to get the fight to the corner, and then I try to do as much damage there as possible.
I dont want the opponent to play defense. I want them to play offense while i play defense. If they’re playing defense while im playing defense then is her defense better than the person i’m playing against? Probably not.
I want them to think they’er gonna rush me down and to realize they’re going to do that…then…get in there and destroy!
- Note: U2 did nice damage, probably unchanged, the full pinwheel combo at the end whiffed, as it does in super.
-Note: Dont use U2 for AA, clearly doesnt work in this version.
-Note: After a forward Throw he does 4 forward dashs and gets to the downed Ibuki as shes getting up, most likely no changes to forward dash.
-Note: Seems to hold her own abit more vs Dictator, OS expinwheel still doesnt catch a teleport but overall still works on catching ex PC.
- Note: Nothing special, but she does well vs Yang it seems, from this view doesnt look like a bad matchup.
http://www.youtube.com/user/Bl34tm4n#p/search/5/VJXlNn_CeGs -Note: Alot of focus attack absorbs on the scissor kicks, dunno maybe its easier to do or he just had good spacing, U2 once again doing alot of damage, might be optimism but maybe it got abit more damage in AE…
At this stage juri is looking mostly unchanged, but its not like anyone is trying out anything new in the vids either, lets just hope theres still more exploring to be done.
yang isn’t even fully discovered yet. i say give it few months until the players themselves get accustomed with the twins to even make judgement on juri vs either of them.

Neo wasnt kidding when he said he just mashs lol
Somehow seems to work, inanycase it looks like that corner safe jump setup is nice for landing fuzzies, saw him use it against viper too, the divekick whiffed in the corner though as it does against some characters after a fuzzy, might update some of that info in the what works on who thread when i get back to my xbox after xmas.
Yeah, I’ve seen some of Soramiso before. There’s a couple of older videos on Youtube.
That was an interesting watch. Kyonum vs Uryo really shows the difference between a high level player and a top player, Uryo was pretty on point with everything, landing Ultras and supers at every turn, but Kyonum seemed to be floundering a little, not sure what to do. Might’ve been nerves maybe?
Curious tidbit: After 2:37:50, Uryo throws Kyonum’s wakeup Ex Pinwheel, and the commentator says that that’s no longer throwable in arcade edition. Ex Pinwheel throw invulnerable in AE, or just clueless commentators?
Sakura’s links & hit confirms are retardedly easy and her game plan is simple: get in -> land a jab and link into ex tastu -> ultra or reset. Actually I never understand why she’s considered as a low tier character while Juri is mid tier. She has easy combos, good damage, ok zone skill, ok footsie, best AA in game, ambitious jump in, fast walk speed. Poor man’s Ryu (maybe) but not quite far behind, and she’s far from being under played in Asia region. IMO from that video it shows the difference between a completed character and a badly designed character. A good player with a clean game plan beats all.
the only reason sakura is considered low tier is due to lack of exposure at high level, due to nobody willing to use her. but imo, sakura is much better than juri. in both ssf4, and ssf4 AE. i’m pretty sure since AE is out we’ll see how solid sakura really is as opposed to juri who is still not complete imo. sakura has almost everything needed to be very good.
-solid reversal
-good anti air
-safe pressure
-good hit confirms that lead to good damn damage
-reliable ultra set ups that does decent damage
-ok zoning ( not to mention this got improved in ae )
-solid pokes
-good walkspeed
-solid way of blowing up cr tech
so her only weakness was what, being free on knockdown? juri suffers from that, plus more. not to mention sakura received good buffs in AE ( hit confirm to sweep being 1 of them ). with all this coupled, no way will juri be as good as sakura in AE IMO. juri just simply is an unfinished character still imo.
Sakura’s problem was that SSF4 was a zoner’s game, and she lost to pretty much everyone in it, thanks to a bad fireball, but like Dudley, once she was in she was in. 400+ meterless damage, some really nasty resets and piss easy combos using Ultra.
With other characters being nerfed - specially the zoners - and she getting some really nice buffs, Sakura is looking really scary in AE.
lol everyones ignorant to our plight, id think they are the same, everything is optimism at this point.
edit: also the uryo match was gdlk, makes me believe sometimes that juri can get far, as opposed to the 80% of the other time i feel i should just stick to learning abel.
Was really digging how Kynoum was using j.hp, it made him/her very hard to AA. Nice play all round, and he/she’s not afraid to take gambles either. I shouldn’t really be commenting on his play, but I felt he could have used Juri’s pokes more in general.
And lol at them mimicking Juri and Kindevu wanting Uryo to use Sakura’s colour 10.
