Public Shooting and GC Thread: Active Shooter reported at LAX

I suck at sensing sarcasm on the internet.

Daily Show had a great gun special to round up the week, it also features one of the dumbest people I have ever seen State Rep. Wanda Brown of Missouri, how the fuck do you elect these people - http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/fri-january-18-2013

Colbert also did a special - http://www.colbertnation.com/full-episodes/thu-january-17-2013-akhil-reedamar

well that is what we were talking about, until you said that it is irrelevant what heads thinks now, what is relevant is what they thought then; i guess the factor not considered (creating confusion) is that alot of changing has gone on since 2001.

ok. good. (it was a question)

hahaa. Well states rights is definitively a conservative cause, so that particular narrow statement you are fixating on is hardly the picture of gross blind generalization, as opposed to invoking hate/ignorance/other patently non-coservative viewpoints – we have very different views of what conservative values arre; your perspective seems informed by some dipstick stereotype instead of the politcal philosophy

^this
we need to ban all guns now!
and make carrying swords legal again.

again…wandering samurai fantasies gripping me again.

All he did was give his opinion while trying to push it as a fact lol. He also didnt cover everything the video mentioned. Im not saying I believe its a conspiracy or not but I def would say that video debunked anything.

oh geez more black on black violence done by 18 year olds. How shocking

Indeed. It seems like there’s something driving them to despair and such, something about modern civ… OMG! GUNS! That’s the reason! Ban’em, boys!

Two other shootings happened in the same week as the Newtown massacre and went relatively underreported. Granted, the last one didn’t result in any deaths, but about 50 shots were fired in that incident.

Point being that while uncommon, they’re not quite that uncommon, and the media doesn’t report them quite as ravenously as it seems.

Shooting in a Houston College. Would you guys like me to change the thread title to something generic or keep it as is? Seems easier to contain all the gun control/ information on mass shootings all in one place.

Change it. We may need a catch-all thread, sadly

Done. Not gonna give the topic a smarmy or otherwise cartoony title since the topic has neither of those qualities.

Nader speaking out on Obama’s lack of aggression on game violence in wake of new gun control stuff

That’s odd. Nader usually doesn’t throw around allegations like this without piles of research to back them up. He literally does almost nothing in his free time but read studies and technical journals.

Nader’s way of venting after getting spawnkilled in Blops 2 too much?

From his blog post:

Something is definitely up with this. I’m not sure why he would even bring up arcades since they haven’t been relevant in what, 15 years? This is so weird that I’m willing to believe a conspiracy was created to make it look like he posted. Although most of the blog post has a tinge of Bill Cosby bitching parents out to it.

http://nader.org/1999/10/27/making-parents-irrelevant/

I think it’s safe to say most old people still think arcades exist.

I still go to the arcade a couple times per week, but I take your point. And even that aside, most kids aren’t going to be corrupted by DDR and ticket games, which is what arcades tend to specialize in these days.

I didn’t want to say about the frequency of shootings, just that there will be many more shootings despite the back and forth debate. It’s about arms enablement with individual interpretations of self protection as convenient means to get there.

I think it’s a sad thing but I don’t feel bad about it. I’m just waiting for the next big shooting to happen with all the outcry, candle light vigils, ad hoc (and sugar coated) responses from the policy makers. Once the emotion and heat of the moment are gone, it’s business as usual with the victims left to pick up the pieces.

Just the fact that there’s a thread to keep track of mass shootings - WTF are we even talking about?
