would you say owning a gun makes you feel like a man?
EDIT: more of a man. *
yeah
just like driving cars with big engines pumping out huge fucking sums of Horsepower with the torque
just like playing competitive sports with other testosterone filled dudes beating the shit out of one another
just like engaging in stupid reckless activity to get the adrenaline pumping.
just like fucking as many bitches as possible and then bragging about it
yeah, that shit definitely makes me feel more like a man. Holding a piece of wood is so fucking manly, you caught me and that’s one of the biggest reason why people should have them. Because it empowers them and makes them feel like the men they so wish to be. Yup, you figured me out.
Want a cookie?
Real Talk tho, driving my car recklessly while holding my wood with other testosterone-filled dudes DOES make me feel like more of a man

i want you to have the cookie, but you can f#ck me as many times as possible and then brag about it lol.
joking aside, you never really gave a reason for having a gun, so what is it?
Does it really matter why I want one?
I don’t have to justify anything to you. Its a constitutional right, whether you like or not, and whether or not the people of this nation like it or not. Its my right to buy and own one as a citizen provided I complete my obligations as an American citizen and fulfill my civic duty with respect to the constitution.
But I’ll foolishly bite stranger, I like them for sport, and for my own personal security. Simple as that. What I choose too use, provided it doesn’t explicitly infringe on someones else’s right to life, and that I fulfill my obligations, I should have that choice.
There’s nothing wrong with having a gun in your home for protection. Why are so many people against the 2nd amendment? Shouldn’t a law abiding citizen have the advantage over an intruder breaking into his or her house? What if you don’t have a gun and a huge man that can kick your ass breaks in with a weapon? Call the cops? Most crimes are already committed by the time the cops arrive on the scene. What if your wife is home alone when something like this is happening? Theres a women in Atlanta that was involved in a situation like this recently and a gun saved her and her daughters lives. This has nothing to do with feeling like a “big man” or tough.
BTW if you take guns away from law abiding citizens the only people that will have guns are the criminals and government. If they really wanted to save peoples lives they would spend the 5.5 billion dollars they’re using to try to pass bans on weapons on something more productive. 99% of gun homicides in America happen in fucked up neighborhoods with illegal weapons, mostly hand guns. Banning semi auto rifles will do nothing.
How about using the wasted money (that’s just punishing responsible gun owners) to help get some of these places out of poverty. Also better treat the mentally unstable and for god enforce the laws we already have. If it was really about saving lives they wouldn’t be doing these bans. Where was all this talk of banning weapons when over the last 4 years of Obama’s term when thousands upon thousands of people were killed in gun homicides? The rifles talked about in bans are used in about 1% of those crimes. They know this, this is just a political agenda and taking guns away completely is something some people want to do.
I say just come out and say you’re against the 2nd amendment if you want a ban on semi auto rifles. Because when somebody goes and preforms another mass murder with shotguns and handguns they will try to ban those too instead of getting to the root of the problem. Then like I said gun murders will go up because criminals wont have anything to worry about when dealing with law abiding citizens. Just look at the war on drugs, how did that turn out?
Why are so many people deluding themselves into thinking that people who want gun control must be against the Second Amendment?
There’s people who are against the 2nd Amendment… It’s not a delusion lol. Some people want a ban on certain guns and some people want a ban on all guns. The gun control laws being put into place aren’t going to stop anything anyway. If you are for gun control (banning certain style weapons) where do you draw the line? When we have only pistols and shotguns (that are capable of just as much damage as semi auto rifles) and somebody goes on a rampage are we going to ask for a ban on those too? Or are we going to actually do something that works?
Slippery slopes and loaded questions are a poor substitute for a real argument backed up with empirical evidence.
Wasn’t an assault weapons ban passed already in 1994? Correct me if I’m wrong but it did not help anything in terms of gun violence for the 10 years it was active. All guns do significant damage, not just the weapons people classify as “assault weapons”
I just feel they money the government is spending to “save lives” can be much better spent in other areas to save a lot more lives. IMO bans like these lead to more bans down the road when these sorts of shootings happen again. It’s almost like people only pay attention to the mass shootings when in reality people are getting killed every day by guns. I honestly don’t think the answer is as simple as just taking away certain weapons. Poverty and mental illness seem to be the biggest contributors to gun violence, lets go after that.
Edit
I actually just read some posts at the start of this thread. I agree 100% with what you were saying around page 2 or 3 in that big post you made. Seriously if I’m not mistaken we are kind of on the same page here? Your vocabulary is a lot better than mine though lol…
Despite the technical inefficacy of the assault weapons ban (lack of restrictiveness, mountain of loopholes, etc.), the rate of deaths from mass shootings was significantly lower during the time period of the ban than it was before or after. In fact, it tripled afterward. This is a correlation, admittedly, but taking together the comparisons to before and after the ban, it is compelling that the assault weapons ban did in fact curb gun violence to a significant degree. I’d define that as helping.
And with rare exception, people are not advocating gun control as a panacea. They are merely pointing out that it is a ridiculously obvious avenue to look at when exploring options to curb gun violence. I would bet that most people, when asked, would suggest a robust, multifaceted solution like what you’re talking about. Many of them just happen to include restriction on gun ownership.
I’d be willing to bet that anybody but the most deranged gun nuts are in favor of legally restricting citizens’ access to arms on some level.
As for the Second Amendment, I feel like the more people invoke it in favor of their argument, the less they tend to know about it. For one thing, gun control is nothing new and there are many misconceptions today about who has advocated it and why. For another, people seem to believe that if the Constitution says that something is a right then that right must be unlimited. That is false across the board, and the Second Amendment is no exception.
The popular narrative spread mainly by libertarian and pro-gun organizations is that the Founding Fathers were worried about tyranny, so they wanted the citizens to be able to decide whatever weapons they wanted and to be able to do anything they wanted with those weapons in the interest of their own liberty. That is in some respects a distortion and in other respects flat-out untrue. The Second Amendment is not the clear-cut, one-size-fits-all gun license for every American that gun people think it is.
You make great points. As for the 2nd Amendment I agree 100% you have to draw a line somewhere. You can’t have people owning RPG’s and full auto M60’s with huge clips, that’s insane. It’s just stupid when they ban certain rifles because of cosmetic features that don’t do anything. For instance you can take 2 of the same rifles, add a pistol grip to one and now it’s illegal. I guess that’s just something we have to deal with in such a complex issue.
Scoot Magee lives!!
Actually, adding a pistol group to any rifle will convert that gun into a fully automatic machine gun. Do your research, fool.
but a thumbhole stock isn’t.
Sandy Hook Conspiracy theory debunked fa life.
