He had access to guns due to living at home with mom, so in this instance him living at home was indeed a factor. Remove his access to guns through his mom and all you have is a guy screaming in an elementary school.
His older brother started he had a personality disorder but nothing has come out about what help they got him. If he was living with his mother and she wasn’t actively seeking help for him, it was making matters worse.
Rent has always been high…That’s why people start off with roommates…but that is another argument not really important enough to press imo.
Plus the teeny tiny problem that guns don’t kill people. People do. Either angry, goddamn m*erfking drunk people who grab whatever is on hand - gun, kitchen knife, anything goes, professional criminals, or very troubled people. The drunk killings would pretty much happen regardless, it’s not like professional criminals give a shit about what the law says. Gun control is just a bandage over the “people not feeling well” issue. The actual solution is to enable them to live in a way that feels satisfactory.

If it’s their hobby to shoot hunting level weapons, they should apply for a hunting license to get hunting level guns.
If someone really wants something they will do what it takes to get it properly. Someone else’s rights should never have the potential to take away someone’s freedom to live. If something is easy to get more people will get it.
Why can’t “innocent” (of what I don’t even know) people own guns? It is their constitutional right. I am going to believe these journalists made sure to check who owned the guns found. After all, it’s not like the police can go and check a database for that information, right? …right?
