Psychic Hotline: Rose Video Thread

@ TheFury

It’s not that I’m scared to play him or of him, it’s that I have no experience against Viper. It’s probably my first time playing a viper of that level because there really isn’t any viper here in the place where I live in California.

Teaches me I have to learn ALL the match ups better lol.

Because usually, the match ups I do practice like EVERYday are like Rufus, Ryu, Balrog, Bison x Infinity (because we have good Bison’s here in California lol) and like that.

I specialize in the Rose mirror >.>

Don’t get me wrong, I do play Vipers, but I can beat them because they aren’t at the caliber where Porkloafking is :wasted:

Have you been to the levelup series on wednesdays? I mained Viper before Rose and this matchup is easy for me. If you ever go lets get some games in against my Viper and ill give you some tips. Or hit me up on XBL.

But I actually know how to approach the match up.

I just attack too much get hit with EX Seismo and I get crossed up BKing alot.

I will learn tho

Focus attack or focus dash forward through it and throw. Otherwise don’t worry about it too much. If he’s abusing it u can definitely block it on reaction and it doesn’t lead to any real damage or frame advantage for Viper unless it lands on counter hit. Viper basically needs the overhead in order to stop you from blocking low all the time. If Viper didn’t have that overhead you’d have almost no reason to not block low against her. Especially since Viper has no real block strings and u can just mash out of all of her shit. Which is why she has to basically hit u with one normal and then feint and try to walk up and hit u with another to scare u from mashing. It’s just another one of her tricks she needs to keep u from holding down back all day but nothing to really fret over.

I know Dhalsim can slide under it with LK slide but Rose’s might be too slow to do that. Worth a try though.

A very serious Rose beatdown starting at 33 minutes in. Matches against Alex Valle and many other good players.

Justin.tv - Peaceful Jay’s Colosseum - Super Street Fighter IV Free4All [PRO LOBBY]

Geez, rose was practically there 75% of the entire stream lol, good shit.

OMG. With shit like this and luffy/arturo, how can Rose’s legitness ever be questioned? Wake-up be damned, she’s super solid in this game.

All these matches were from yesterday.

One thing I noticed in video 26 was that you missed the ST after orbs a couple of times. If you use df, db, df+p for the ST, it should auto-correct and catch them. Good sht though.

What I noticed (with Rose):

  1. I noticed that you kept doing FADC backdashes, which gave Guile a better position in this match. In both rounds, you were cornered. Generally, try not to use FA too much.
  2. You used Soul Spark when you were extremely close to Guile in round 2; that’s easily punishable on block, especially up-close (I don’t know if you did this intentionally or not).
  3. You could have used more zoning moves in this match (I personally like using s.HK here, because it works great against Guile players I play. You need to be careful of his Sonic uppercut however. Using zoning moves a lot against Guile players will annoy them up-close. You could even bait out his uppercut if you’re clever.)
  4. You dropped a few combos, practice more hit-confirming.

not my best match (no combos, no shenanigans, missed punishes, nervous spacing) but it is my best win on PSN

PS: I ahte the fact that U2 causes extra hitstop and less hitstun, missing me some easy combos (the jumpin was total failure)

a decent cammy. vs really good cammys i have a lot of trouble, i thought this guy was decent.

You are lucky, he never punished a spiral lol.

Hmm, I saw you doing a SC Mk to counter her EX hooligan and I briefly thought that was The answer, but that moves also grabs those who are airborne, and it grabs them quite well. So I guess it’s just one of the moves you can do, as long as you do it fast enough.
But against people who dive into grabs like Gouken or Akuma it might be an answer… looking into it. It would avoid the grab and might counter the slide. But would lose ofcourse to late divekick. But that would only be a reset then. Hmmm!

And damn that Deejay had rhythm

Is Rose airborne during SC mk, or is she just throw invincible? I can’t remember ever getting air thrown out of it, and I don’t think she flips if hit out of it?

That was certainly a great match. Round 2 was really close, and all it took was a tech to make the difference.

Rose vs. Vega 1 - You really did a great job outspacing him there, and I saw how you were able to punish him with Focus Attacks after he did wall dives.

Rose vs. Vega 2 - I would give the exact same comment about this video, you got him with the slide and c.LK a lot.

Rose vs. DJ 1 - I noticed that the DJ player kept cornering you a lot, and catching you with a couple of anti-airs. I don’t have too much experience fighting DJ users, but I think ground approaches work best, especially given the amount of anti-airs DJ has.

Rose vs. DJ 2 - You got pressured a lot with cross-ups there. That match was really close.

If you need help, I’ll look through what matches I have against DJ, and post them on your profile in case you need to brainstorm alternative ways of approaching him.

Rose vs. Cammy 1 - You did a really nice job with the corner pressure.

Rose vs. Cammy 2 - The Cammy user could have punished some of your Soul Spirals on block, but most of the time, he used a throw on reaction.

i have him on my flist, he is a good player ^^…good game overall

@ luffy. thats not luck, thats just online play. i dont always finish my block strings with drill but online its really tempting to do since most of the people i come across dont realize what they can punish and what they cant vs rose. i get ultra’d all the time for it tho, so im slowly trying to work that out of my game.

@ acku. that was just a mistake going for cr. fierce and bumping mk. im still gettin a hang of playing on a stick even after a year. i tend to still bump buttons when i dont want to. i was really lucky there. but mk has worked as AA for me before. not sure how effective it is vs dive kicks, like i said it was just an accident that worked out well.

@ sksk. thats my problem with good dj’s and juri’s. they pin me in the corner and i can just never seem to get in a throw to reverse the situation or get anything out to push them back. like all of you have mentioned you cant jump, so your options to get out of the corner are practically none. same with juri.

so yeah if anyone can help me out with advice for dj id appreciate it. the match pretty much gets decided in the first ten seconds. whoever pushes who to the corner first wins basically. approaching him is hard though, good djs certainly dont mess around either.

It happened to be “free gold weekend” for us XBL silver people so I decided to record some matches:
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Surprisingly enough, the endless room I entered are Dee Jay mains.
