Hey, thats mine Was a bit disappointed that this was selected as my newest replay. I expected the Ryu to be of the jab-jab-throw type, nut actually he had jab on autofire and never planned to throw. So I was constantly getting jabbed in the, euh, female thingie. What a weird match.

Still, the win was mine. But that was only deserved, as he must have been awful to never throw at all.

A few matches later I got a chance of 90K CP in a final against Sakura and messed up in the last round, very close. Would have been be a lot nicer that replay.

thanks for the update, but you gotta get some more Rose videos preferably not with Saqs in it. Dude’s a good player, but he’s not utilizing things in certain matches as he should or even as is able. Such as reflects and soul throws. And he’s not the epitome of how a person should play Rose. Just for future reference. of course unless he’s been stepping it up lately. he hasn’t uploaded vids for awhile now.

metroxylon : as you may have noticed, saqs’ videos date back from the beginning of console sf4. you can see how he’s progressed through time spent playing. he’s the first rose to have uploaded videos. I personnally (and i bet a lot of people on this board) have learnt a lot following his channel and progressed at the same rate.
by all means, if you have videos of what should be “the epitome of a rose player”, do share them.

i noticed a few poognko vids in there, it’s funny to watch but not really highly technical though :rolleyes:

I probably learn more just from my own experience. watching saqs has been enlightening in a sense, but he’s not like my sole reason for how I use Rose. I don’t have the means to upload video to youtube, but I’ve got a replay up on PSN… it’s not the best ever, but at least it’s against a guile. put that up on dojo.

Acku nailed it: I’m working with the video footage that is available on the net.
I don’t have the set-up (nor do I want to allocate the time) to hunt down, rate, and pull matches off PSN or XBL.
I can grab the video from almost any website and edit it as needed, though I much prefer to just link videos up on youtube.

I prefer tournament footage. (the higher placing the better, the larger/tougher tournament the better)
But casual footage works too, especially for characters like Rose who just don’t show up in tournaments that often.

If you want to make/find footage for the site, here’s what I need:
MAKE SURE you select top ranked/known opponents in the different characters.
Weak opponents don’t provide the quality video, so I will rarely use it.
Hunt down THE top, top ranked payer in each character and record/copy vids against them:
Seth = EMP Sabin (Arturo; “Sabin”)
Ken/Akuma = EdMastersB (Ed Ma)
Ryu = CaliPower (Alex Valle)
etc.
Contact EvilDrakefang and set-up Cammy matches, contact Combofiend (not sure his XBL tag) for Viper matches,
Or get some games in with Sabre’s Sakura (not sure Sabre’s XBL tag).

I DO NOT want the streetfighterdojo.com to be the grounds for a pissing contest.
I do not want show off videos or lucky wins.
I want solid play that helps people study matchups and technique.

Right now I have Saqs noted as a top Rose player because:

he has vids up
he has a good ranking on XBL
he has good feedback as a player from his peers
Yes, many of his vids are older (in fact there are many even older vids I did not use), but I’m working with what I have.

I’d love for the Rose forum to nominate, discuss, and rank top Rose players out there.
I could hunt down the names and check for vids.
But again, I do not want this for some sense of bravado empowerment: I want study material to help players get better.

I love a lot of the nicovideo stuff, but unless I get a direct link to a specific vid I have a hard time sifting through it.

The search parameters you provided help a TON.
Though I still have a hard time going through it all and digesting it, and I’d rather allocate the time elsewhere since the language barrier makes pulling from it, navigating through it, or trying to review it so tough.

Poongko is not recognized for his Rose play for sure.

I include his (or other top players) using an off character because it’s neat to see what they bring to them.
It might not be textbook or even competent, but often it explores using the character in alternative ways and sometimes that can provide some great insight.

Well those games sources don’t seem too prestigious: a Utah ranbat, what appears to be a casual get together with friends, and then a random online match (who laid waste to sagat, which is pretty unreasonable). so I wouldn’t consider any of those videos to be top quality material honestly. Also partly because of the Roses (I mean no offense) again not utilizing everything in her arsenal against certain match ups. I say since material is hard to come by, just wait until people really know how to use Rose rather than show a distorted perspective.

@Zaspacer: what I saw was decent, but not the high-level you are looking for indeed. To qualify, the Roses should at least combo each opportunity.

acku > i think zaspacer is looking for videos that show how you’re supposed to play the actual match-up. your rose play is solid indeed, but your opponent was far too scrubby (mid-range jump forward ad-nauseum) to be a correct reference for the ken versus rose match-up.

zaspacer > best rose series i’ve seen on nicovideo is this one http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6615781 the abel match is very good as a reference.
the poster of the video is the rose player, but i have no idea how to get his name on the view page.

Ye Loopiz, I wasnt presenting that as a reference video, but rather as my first Rose video online I wonder how a Ken like that gets not only 9K GP but also to the final with 40K CP. That means he must at least have beaten other high GP players. Then again, chances are he just beat other GP grinders.

If only all finals went this easy for me

Hmm very nice Rose vid imo. Only question I have is why didnt he combo super into those drills? Sadly he missed a FADC combo at the end giving him a strange loss. Still, quality player.
