One thing I see Chun players do a lot is neutral jump hk. A good way to stop that is slide under them and use cr. hp.
And against Balrog: after you slide through his shield I would recommend throwing him instead of going for a lk or lp since he was able to block them every time.
If you try to slide under Chun Li’s neutral j.hk you will get hit even if you make it to the other side since her neutral j.hk hits on both sides. You can c.hp her to counter (which I tried but missed) or ex soul throw her just before she hits you. Or you can just block and counter.
As for Balrog the c.lk’s were to see if he was holding a down charge for a headbut (which he can easily combo to ultra) Rose’s c.lk and c.mk both make Balrog’s headbut whiff allowing you to punish for free. I did slide and throw him but if you get to predictable with it you will eat a headbut to ultra for being repetitive.
I’m pretty sure if you distance it properly and slide right under her snatch (in between both of her legs), it should hit, not trade or whiff. But I could be wrong…
Ah, I didn’t even realize a headbutt would whiff through a c. lk… But in that match, after you slid into his shield, you would start with c. lp. Would that whiff too?
Yeah I played him during the North Florida Bi-weekly, pretty cool guy. Whenever I start playing stick permanently(I use a Saturn pad primarily ATM), I may need him to mod it if I can’t get one of the other players here to do it.
I’m pretty sure you’ll still get hit if you try to slide under her neutral j.hk, that move hits on both sides and has a huge active window.
With regards to the Balrog match if you look I don’t slide into his EX punches when he as ultra so I wasn’t that concerned with heating a headbutt if he caught me with one. After he had ultra I wasn’t doing much sliding into ex punches I was FADC’ing them or blocking. I would only slide from a safe distance. I was trying to link a c.lp or c.mk off my slide (which you can do) to start a combo most of the others times and to just keep him frustrated and under pressure.
