; ) dirty ending…

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Sagat matchup:

You guys can obviously tell what I did wrong. Don’t fall for the slow tiger shot setups, just focus or jump over the ones you’re not sure about instead of trying to reflect.

Has anyone ever played Marn or Justin Wong yet? i need a rose video so i can understand their habits and weaknesses (if they even have any) lol. Got a tournament coming in a bit and i wanna pull an upset on those bums haha

They both played and beat the best Rose player in the world (Louffy) at ESWC in France.

Not unless someone has vids of the matches from when they went overseas and Luffy played them I think.

But yeah…matchup’s hard, especially since Wong also plays with Rose so he knows the matchup better than other people.

Here’s some vids of me at a local tournament last weekend. The stick I was using was on the rag, had to switch at the start of the Boxer matches

oh? Is Luffy the best Rose in the world? Did he get a plaque or something?

Please, if you’re going to make a claim about a player’s skill with a certain character, just say “one of the top ___ players”. Because as I see things right now, Shinkuur is better, and France has no competition.

Edit: Seriously, Shinkuur, your Rose destroyed my brain.

And in other news, I got 2nd at my first tournament on Monday. Lost to a Dhalsim player who was too good with Shangri’la (instant U2/max range counters etc) but I held up alright. I heard there were going to be recordings, but I think something didn’t work right, or the quality turned out terrible, which is too bad because I could’ve used some review and advice after that.

A couple things I need to remember: End combos with spiral, not spark. Getting knockdowns on Sim is much more crucial than many other characters in the game.

Focus forward dash limbs more often even if you have the life lead since it’s hard for Rose to get away with sparks in this match-up when Sim focus absorbs them, and has U2 at the ready.

Make sure all wireless controllers are turned off so as to not get accidental button presses and other such voodoo.

If Shinkuur can beat both Daigo and Tokido then sure why not.

Must you always argue? It’s pretty much widely known that Luffy is the best Rose player because he has the mindset of a top player, match up knowledge, character knowledge, beat players that are well known as the “best”. and made a name for himself. .-. Not to mention, he has the mindset to break down the opponent .-. as shown vs Daigo, who is basically emotionless.

Oh yes, I’ll just blindly accept what people say regarding who the best is, that’s good for my spirit, and completely logical. My argument is that it’s difficult, if not impossible, to determine the best. Just because a person has played “the best”, and put up a fight, that doesn’t make them “the best” too. It just means they had a fortunate opportunity to get their name out.

At a time when Rose wasn’t yet figured out by Daigo, yes Luffy got some wins. Yes during CASUAL PLAY, Luffy beat Tokido, who probably didn’t know the match either.

If Luffy gets an opportunity to play them again now, after they’ve had some time to level up and learn, and puts up more of a fight, maybe I’ll get on the Luffy boat. He’s no doubt a good player, but I think it’s absurd to make such big claims as if he’s beyond any other Rose player’s level.

I think Luffy is at least the Best Known Rose player I seen.

Even without the wins against Daigo and Tokido, Luffy has still won the most tourneys out of any of us. So he rightfully deserves his place at the top right now.

Shinkuur’s matches were awesome, and I was shocked by seeing so many times the combo: close MK, cr.LP, cr.LK, cr.MP ; it was practically never dropped even when the close MK wasn’t meaty. I never even considered trying it in an actual match

I like the use of the cr. hp.

I need to do that more D:

I must say, even though I think Luffy is tops
Your Rose is pretty damn impressive!

Loving that Rose ShinkuuR.

okay, so im still learning Rose atm.

I know I didn’t play well at all during this match, but the last round showed me again why i need to work on her bnb combos.

I think your zoning game needs more work than bnbs for now. You’re definitely still learning, so just stick with the simple punishes and combos if you can hit confirm on the jump-in.

I personally think combos that involve light attacks should only be used when attacking from the ground, like after a slide or spiral frame trap. Say you do a combo after a jump-in; the c.lpx2, c.lk, c.mp xx spiral. Damage scaling from that whole combo would result in spiral doing 50 damage. Not really worth it IMO.

In other news, it has dawned on me that the OP only contains 5 videos from very early on in Rose’s SF4 lifespan, so I’ve decided to take it upon myself to gather all the good Rose video’s I’ve seen posted in this thread, and put them in a new thread all up-to-date and easily accessible. If a player also has a youtube account, I’ll probably just link to their account rather than individual videos from them.

So ShinkuuR you know (or met) Spektrum? He used to live in Philly. He’s a great guy and does gdlk mods if you ever need one. I only let Spektrum touch my stick, lol :shy:
