Basically it goes:
combo into lp spark, fadc, activate u2, let first orb ht, c.hp, hp spark, link c.hp into whatever finisher you want
Linking the c.hp after hp spark is pretty easy. I don’t plink and I get it all the time when I do that combo, OFFLINE anyway lol.
Maybe I should give plinking a shot, it seems too cumbersome for me though. Also need to look int o this whole option select business.

My newbie Rose ranked vids with FF13 music. I’m really interested in the character since I did her trials 3 days ago and saw her new dress and Ultra 2. I’ve had better matches than these but usually in Endless. I’ve had worse too. Again usually in Endless. So I’m curious to see what I’m doing bad and what I’m doing good so please help me out.

you’re already using some of her gimmicks as if you actually mained her
it’s funny that, unlike vanilla rose players, you use c.hp hp reflect as a punishment whereas we are so used to c.hp drill that we just keep using it. i have no clue which is more damaging though, i guess you use it in order to focus cancel into ST if you have the meter.
Anyways, I noticed until the Ibuki match a distinct lack of cr.mp xx Drill pressure. I also think you should stop using HP Reflect as a punish. cr.hp xx hp.reflect into ST does more than cr.hp xx Drill, but it costs 2 super meter outside the corner and doesn’t do significantly more damage. And since any drill combo can lead into super combo, I think saving some meter would be a good idea.
Ah thank you sooo much you guys! I knew I had to be do something wrong. And yeah it was only later that I started to see that c.mp>shoul spirial was good pressure. Thanks for letting me know about the damage and waste of FADC for ST.
You can tell I like launchers since I’m coming from Sakura and Dudley thats why I kept using c.hp>hp reflect. Where can I find out more about these gimmicks and tricks you guys mentioned? Any recommended threads for me? I’m really loving Rose now with this U2 but I have no idea how to use U1. Vanilla Rose never interested me at all. Boring outfit, boring ultra. But now I see things different. Please show me the way!

Hey Mr. Flowers. There are more than the few things I’m going to mention that could help you improve, but new flowers need to start with basics.
First I wanna refer to this segment here. You were cornered, did a forward throw, and then soon after there was an air to air trade. [media=youtube]KFT1KYsHdhw#t=1m34s[/media]
Either you should have back thrown Dudley to diminish his offensive prominence in the corner, or if you forward throw, try dashing into him while he’s down, then back dash, to bait something, or just to provide more space to work with. Also you could have gone for a cross-up/fake cross-up after the forward throw.
The air-to-air trade reset the field, so that was your chance to escape the corner, mount an offense, or both. I believe slide counters all MGU and is essential to Rose’s pressure game. I haven’t seen a lot of Rose videos where they use slide as a sort of breaker in between crouching light attacks, but I use that method pretty frequently because you can bait stuff, light attacks are the most safe, and you can tick into throw.
In the first part of the video, I noticed you would sometimes dash too far after HP reflect FADC U2 and LP reflect came out by accident. The problem with forward dash, is you might get too close to the player that it could screw up your input due to the possibly ambiguity of positioning. I haven’t tested the absolute best method (if there is one) to landing soul throw after the orbs, but I have had enough success with just sliding after using the orbs when a player jumps. As I saw you use it, it’s good for evasion, and it doesn’t cover as much ground as forward dash.
Thanks Metro for the extra tips. I really need to start thinking about getting them in the corner and keeping them there. Rose seems to have some great tools for corner pressure.
lol yeah I switched character yet again. I’ll put commentary on my next vid and discuss why I’m using Rose over Dudley now. Tbh Rose is the last character I thought I’d ever like but now she feels perfect. I used to pick her sometimes to spam c.mp for laughs but that was it. I did her trials the other day as well as alot of other characters and I somehow found myself in training room practicing FADC> U2 and have only used Dudley 3 times since and Sakura zero times. :looney: :wow:

Can someone help with the Blanka Matchup? I really suck against him and I often panic a lot… ~.~
I don’t lose very often online, but Blanka really gives me really hard time.
Can someone translate this? I don’t know if there’s some specific thing that this video is trying to show. It almost looks like it’s trying to show that the move before U2 activation has some bearing on the initial starting position, which would be really interesting, but hard to believe.
For the Blanka matchup, I feel like you have to bait out mistakes against Blanka. Some random things I use:
Rose’s faster cr.hp works very well against any jump but good crossups. I take U1 to punish blocked balls (still only standing block, I believe). I think the U1 starts faster than in vanilla (is this confirmed anywhere? it feels faster to me) so you shouldn’t need immediate reversal timing.
I poke a bit less with cr.mp, more with cr.mk, cr.short, and slide because they beat electric mashing. Jump back hp should beat most hp and ex balls. When you knock him down, crossups almost never work- ex up ball or electric will beat you if he guesses or reads you right. I sometimes poke with cr.jab max range on his wakeup to hit reversal balls. I don’t know if that’s 100% safe, but have had success with it.
The rest I think is just general vs Blanka play, and not specific to Rose.
Edit: didn’t see your vid linked before that reply, sorry. I would say look for jumps that you can cr.hp, do less drills, and take advantage of the openings. All the rainbow balls are punishable on block (or focus, I suck at focusing it personally), and look for cr.hp slides that you block close for a spiral combo. For any baited Blanka U1, I just jab spark to knock him out, or U1 (or block then U1 if it will kill). This Blanka was all about pressure, so U2 might be a better choice if he’s not doing unsafe balls. Overall I think you did well.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with going for HP Reflect > FADC Soul throw. It actually does significantly more damage than finishing with a spiral so I think it’s worth the meter if you have an opening for GUARANTEED damage.
j.HK > cr.HP xx Spiral does 280 dmg iirc.
j.HK > cr.HP xx HP Reflect > FADC into soul throw is 351 dmg.
Why not just take the guaranteed damage, using EX meter or not? I think you should do it cause it’s really not that easy to find openings with Rose a lot of times. I usually can only land jump-ins off cross-up j.MK, everything else is fairly easy for them to block. You might land cr.MP xx Spiral a bunch cause cr.MP is a quick attack, but cr.MP xx HP reflect doesn’t combo, cr.MP knocks them too far back.
