Sakura’s otoshi x 2, backdash, meaty lvl 3 hadoken in corner is safe and she gets a mixup off it
So you must have caught him walking towards you for pressure or just about to jump too late.

Thank you sir.
Yeah the Sakura player is new to the character (I’d say less than a month) so I’m the test dummy.  He’ll get to the better footsies/more aggressive resets thing in time.
I was going for some spiral-based traps, but I tend to miscalculate the ranges  Looks like it’s another m/u where I have to sit and wait. It’s funny, I can mostly do that as Chun, but I struggle with the concept when using non-chargies.
here is a few vids of drs filipinoman and saqs

I am so ass right now it’s not even funny lol. Thanks for posting
that adon match is so embarassing, I probably was looking at my facebook while playing :(.
In the Rose mirror match, you both used Ultra 1… is that the preferred ultra in the Rose vs Rose matchup?
I use whatever I’m feeling at the moment lol…
Both are good.

@Mental thanks again, looks like no jumping and bulldogging (while watching meter) on wakeup solved some of my Sakura problems. Resets and light/EX tatsus and other things are still a pain, but I will do my best to outfootsie her…
@Trike, as promised.
Looks like you just really got to stay away and lame it out and make the Honda player hate his life.
No problem. Unless you’re cornered, I think you can escape most of her followups to LK and EX Tatsu with focus backdash.
Personally I think Sakura’s reset mixups aren’t hard to block outside of the ones she has in the corner, which is when she can do an early cross under or a delayed dash to fake it. She can do that midscreen too but I think it’s character specific. Not sure if it works on Rose. Rest of her resets aren’t too hard to eyeball. Here’s a Vanillavideoof some of Sakura’s resets I referenced back when I dabbled with her. Should be useful. Nothing in there is too tricky to block except the FADC nj. MK and the ambiguous non-crossup j. MK.
In my experience it isn’t hard to beat Sakura’s footsies. Rose absolutely dominates her at cr. MP range. She doesn’t have a good answer to slide outside of whiff-punishing it with her sweep though she really needs to be on point. Her only poke which can start her offense - cr. MK buffered into o-s Shouken - gets beaten by Rose’s st. MK. st. HK does reasonable damage but its not fast enough and can be whiff-punished by Rose’s sweep or st. HK.
The only range at where Sakura really becomes a threat is when she can 50/50 you with her throw/tatsu mixup. Thankfully it’s not too hard to keep her out of that space.
She has this unblockable lk tatsu set up when you’re knocked down. cheap as fuck.
unless you do a random ex ST

I never noticed how sexy Chun’s voice was.
Thanks for the Honda vids! I have somewhat of an idea how to plat Hondas now. I had 2 of my friends play Honda against me earlier. One of them played a patient Honda that tried to play footsies and me and wasn’t too much trouble, the other was more aggressive and I had a lot of a harder time with it. I’ll try and put more matches in.
ALSO I WON MY FIRST TOURNAMENT! I played like shit and was on autopilot for most of my matches, but it worked! Critique would be nice as always, but I don’t usually play this terribly. SLIDE THROW ALL DAY BITCH
0:58:25 vs. Guy
1:18:40 vs. Chun-Li
1:28:50 vs. El Fuerte, Dhalsim (The Dhalsim part of this set is EMBARRASSING. I know how awful I played and didn’t use any anti-Dhalsim tricks other than U1ing his fireball/U1. Just ignore that part. )
0:03:00 vs. Chun-Li, M.Bison
Not much to say about the Guy matchup since it’s free anyways. I do feel like Rose is better off AAing elbow with low profile cr. MK into throw instead of with cr. HP since you get a mixup opportunity afterwards and it’s safer.
I find your meter usage in the Chun Li match quite objectionable, particularly in the first round where you blew 3 bar when it was clear it wouldn’t help you win the game. You were better off saving it for the second round. I do think you can LP Reflect Chun’s fireballs and recover in time to block Hozanshu but I’m not sure. You should have tried it a few times before letting Chun take all that ground from you. Not much else to say except your opponent’s strategy was pretty flawed; he should have tried to beat Rose at the footsies game instead of fishing for Hozanshu punishes and CH st. MP xx Super all day.
IMO Guy vs Rose isn’t free. Specially when some people are good at whiff punishing. It was free in Super but now I find that it’s 5-5. Guy can completely push you to the corner and he dominates Rose up close.
And no reflects are safe when Chun has U1 except the EX version. You really need to do the reflect really early so that the Chun player doesn’t have time to launch his U1
EDIT: if you absolutely want to reflect chun’s fireballs I suggest closing the gap between chun and rose so that she doesn’t have time to react
Yeah, I don’t… really know the Guy matchup other than that U1 beats all of his command jump attempts, which I didn’t do. I was experimenting with anti-airing the elbows with cr.hp. Only figured out you have to do it late at the very end of the match.
I’m pretty liberal with my meter in general, but using that meter was a mistake, yeah. The first time I got hit with U1 during a reflect was just negligence. It was early in the match and I didn’t notice he had U1 stocked. It didn’t do too much damage, though. Second time where I got chipped was just giving up and gaining meter. I actually probably could’ve ultra’d him since he didn’t time it right. Getting hit by hazanshus was my fault, though. I stopped getting hit once I stopped absorbing them and up reflected instead.
I think he was sort of mindfucked when he missed his super twice because I was baiting them with max-spaced HK spirals. :>
yeah I think they guy player didn’t had a lot of Rose knowledge.
I hear a lot of people saying U1 is the Ultra by excellence against Guy…
You guys will realize that U2 is actually better against him when you play top players
