Psychic Hotline: Rose Video Thread

This Vega.
Will come searching for you. lol

new rose player here my fight with ballrog did I do it right? sorry for the poor video quality using my phone.

What the heck happened at 2:02 onwards (2:02-3:12)?

love this rose.

corner setup was sick backthrow, whiff crouch lp, fake jlk.

jesus fucken christ, why do people hate so much.

Slide->throw brings out the saltiest in people

'Dat setup from 1:47. Groce.

Keshikaran streams his ranked matches on Nico Video’s streaming section and let me tell you, that guy has some DISGUSTING setups with U2. I’ve known about the crumple->slide reset after seeing him testing it out in training mode, but I’ve never actually had the chance to pull it off in an actual match because it requires it to be in the corner on top of actually landing her horrible focus attack. I never thought of focus canceling an EX spark, though. :X Real situational, but hopefully I can try it in a real match one day.

He also has some sort of crossup after super, too. Something like super -> lp soul throw -> lk spiral -> mp soul throw. Or something. I only caught him doing it once and was wondering what the hell he was doing until it landed.

Wish I had a console so I could experiment with U2 instead of scouring through match vids for inspiration. Too bad none of these setups make Rose any more viable.

gimmick roses.

Makes me sick to my stomach.

but that was nonetheless godlike

o_______O

Keshikaran is too gdlk.

Casuals from last month… helping my friends train their chars while at the same time training my Rose and learning matchups

newbie Sagat - but I did learn a thing or two about slides and reflects back then

vs Cody - spectacular comeback attempt (and failure) in the end.

[]Not enough cr. fierces. I don’t think I saw one cr. fierce that whole set. If you rewatch your match, you’ll notice exactly what range ryu likes to jump at. It’s either up close after you pushed him out and he knows you tend to like to bdash after safely so he can risk a jump in. THESE are the ones you have to punish. The other ones are midrange where he thinks you’re going to do something. If you throw out anything with heavy recovery, his j. rh will basically punish or force you to block. At best at this range your cr. fierce trades. You have to space yourself forward a but and to stuff this jump in. My friend does basically the EXACT same jump ins and its easier said then done but you gotta do what you gotta do. What helps is throwing out jabs or strongs. Even st. forwards give you enough time to buffer EX ST.
[
]Your backing up too much. But then again this is just air we’re talking about.
[]Your letting air get to his spot to throw fireballs. Those instances where you were able to move forward into your range, if he tried to throw a fireball, you got a free focus dash and punish. Try to get there more. That way once he stops throwing fireball his options are limited to a,) jumping in b.) cr. forward or c.) respace himself, all of which you should know how to react to. Just get in the focus dash range and look to either throw out st. forward, st. roundhouse, cr. strong, or cr. fierce. Or most importantly block. That way he can’t react to any animations and punish rose’s shitty as FUCK recover frames.
[
]Slow down the pace. Well that’s what I’d like to say but this is just going into preference. I really do think rose has to slow it down in the ryu matchup. In fast pace situation, his reversal options are way better than ours. The difficult part about slowing it down is finding way to gain space AND AA correctly. If you can polish up those last two, you’ll be fine.
[]When you got out of midrange and started to throw fireballs, ryu wasn’t able to react at times. This was in the latter rounds but yea. You basically spent a good 3 matches training him to not expect it and you started to throw it all day and he couldn’t really adjust. All you had to do after that was capitalize and look for the jump to AA.
[
]Ultra 1. Beating a dead horse. I mean it WAS preventing him from doing shit so it’s not like it WASN’T doing anything. It was just demoralizing as hell TO ME when you made the right read and it still lost to a fireball. Ultra 2. Bthrow slide u2 mpST/hpST. Once you get him to block, mix it up with bthrow slide u2 walk forward a tick and throw.

Good shit. All the matches were pretty close. This is exactly how the matchup is played out in my head.

Stay with Ultra 1.

Ultra 2 can’t do shit to Ryu anyway.

U1 stops untrue blockstrings and other unsafe shit that ryu can’t throw out if you don’t have U2.

When kenny sat down with me a few days ago to teach me frame traps and proper option selects he told me to try sliding under me to get a free throw because it puts me in a bettter situation that just doing a cr.fr

also I was looking for a situation to do one but he spaced it out to perfectly. He kept going for the overhead because of this match.

and yeah that day i didnt land one cr.hp don’t know why. It’s like when I learn new things i forget to do old things :stuck_out_tongue:

1:44 probably my best game i’ve ever played.

Yay, I finally have match videos, in bad quality, but still. Took 4th in a tournament today. Luckily most of my matches were on the stream. :X Any criticism is appreciated.

part 1: 1:10:30 (VS. Yun)
1:35:40 (VS. Perfect Legend’s Yun)
1:54 (VS. El Fuerte)
Part 2: 13:20 (VS. Dhalsim)

The Dhalsim is the guy that has been giving me trouble for FOREEEVER. He reads the living shit out of me and I have no idea how to get in and even when I do, he pushes me back out. :frowning:

Also fuck Yun. :frowning: I was reading what PL was going to do most of the time, but Yun is too fast/safe for me to actually do anything about it. :frowning: I totally fucked up on zoning, though.

CCG PERFECT LEGEND NOW

@majin
yea slide is actually one of rose’s only options at certain ranges when they space out the j. rh or j. fierce. But since throw is your best and only option, it gets kind of easy to read and respond to. I’m fine with it because you shouldn’t be depending on it anyways as a solid AA response. Just wanted you to know that trade cr. fierce isn’t always so bad sometimes because it keeps them guessing after when you do decide to go for the slide. Mixing up your offense is an absolute necessity as a Rose player.

Does Rose even have any decent option selects? I tend not to do them because I just like crossups, safejumps, and empty jumps more.

@trike
Yea dhalsim is stupid. But you definitely have to block those st. fierces. It’s stupid, but sometimes walking forward and blocking is your best option. On block, st. fierce is negative so that gives you the opportunity to see how he reacts to you blocking it. If he throws it again, you know that he likes to throw consecutive st. fierces so that the next time you block one you can JUMP right away. On whiff Sim is horrible so basically he’s eating a full jump in plus the mixup afterwards. Now on the other hand if he just st. fierces once and waits, you know he’s baiting a jump in or some sort of response from you. Instead you have to walk forward and try to get closer after the initial block. Don’t be afraid to walk forward and then down-back. Spacing is vital in this matchup otherwise all your jumpins are easy to react to and are free to AA.

Don’t know if you guys were looking for feedback but that’s just my 2 cents.
