By the time CPEX is out on PC, CF is likely going to have it’s console port announced.
Also, Xrd isn’t on PC. And the PC version of MKX is a joke.
Besides, don’t forget that many TOs have already dropped money on PS4s. Getting a PC for tournaments is just an additional cost.
Let me put it this way, as the tournament organizer for the second largest major in South East Asia (and a Capcom Pro Tour event to boot), I’m not buying PCs just to run tournaments. We’ve already sunk money into PS4s for Manila Cup this year, and we sure as hell aren’t buying PCs for next year. Aside from Smash 4 and Marvel, all the games we run are on PS4 anyway.
There are people who like the DS4. I believe Wolfkrone can’t stop singing the praises for it.
Honestly, I never understood how people managed to play fighting games using DS3 d-pad. Before I bought my first stick, I used to play SFIV with the analog stick (with was a nightmare to do FADC) because I couldn’t handle with the burning pain caused by the prolonged use of the d-pad. I can’t say about Sega pads, but I feel fine with DS4. I actually almost gave up on buying another stick. Yeah, the triggers are kinda inconvenient, but now that we no longer have piano and plinking I don’t see them as a real hassle.
That would be another added Pro for the PS4 then. For those of you who don’t know, with gameshare you can essential let someone else play the game for free without having a copy. For instance in the recent rainbow six siege beta my buddy didn’t have a code. I was able to let him watch through game share then give him control of the controller and he was able to play without a beta code for as long as he pleased. Its pretty handy if you want someone to try a game out before they buy.
The whole fucking controller syncing and desyncing on PS4 is fucking retarded.
It feels like tournaments held on PS4 nowadays lose so much time in between matches for no reason.
Wish PS4 had a tournament mode that simplifies these things.
The Hori commander 4 pad is like a modified version of the ds4 that’s better for fighting games, with 6 buttons on the front and 4 triggers that
are programmable.
So you can bind 3p and 3k to both right triggers, if you don’t want to have to mess around with the left triggers on the same hand using the d pad.
Works on both ps4 and PC without any modding. Also it’s wired (with a really long wire too) so you don’t have to deal with wireless issues. Costs about the same as a dual shock 4 controller, mine was $50 I used it in the sf5 beta. Kinda surprised I haven’t seen more folks using it.
oh yea it still is there on PS4 as well, sony kind of hijacked the name for their new system though. Its essentially the same thing but but you sharer has to launch the game and can watch/ join in with the person they are sharing with.
Regarding SFV and consoles, do tournament organizers get those consoles and games at a reduced price or even for free in some cases?
In such case it would make sense to stick to the console version.
Also regarding PCs, you can set every PC with copies of the game but sometimes this requires to use a DRM circumvention for convenience’s sake. Eg for a lot of games there are portable unofficial versions without DRM, that are actually much easier and faster to use than the Steam version. So for 1 copy you can set it in 10 PCs.
I remember an event where Sony would not allow modified PS2 for the newer Japanese version of Guilty Gear and they had to bring unmodded Japanese PS2s, thus raising the cost.
On PC this wouldnt be an issue. But major companies like Sony and Capcom would not want to meddle with such practices, even though they’re common for most PC gamers who own the game but prefer to run it without DRM
Loved my Hori FC3, which is basically the same animal. Only issue for me was that eventually the tightening mechanism for the adjustable d-pad locked up leaving the d-pad at a less than ideal angle. Still going to get a 4 though.
Callouses. Not even kidding. Been grinding out serious blisters on my left thumb since the NES.
Used to be true. PC MKX is finally in-line with consoles…
…after going through a bunch of patches.
…and having to switch to a new developer to port the damn thing.
…Though it makes little difference now since due to shitty factors beforehand, hardly anyone plays MKX except for single-player or the handful of brave souls who populate online lobbies (like what, 30 people?)
ANYWAYS.
For the sake of Street Fighter 5, honestly I’d purchase it on whatever you damn well please, mainly because (crossing fingers) Capcom said it would be cross-platform capable online-wise. Unless they want dat Anthrax shipped (oh lawd, here comes the FBI now) to Capcom HQ, it’d be stupid for them to delay patches and updates in favor of one system.
But why do I have an inkling something stupid is going to happen anyway…?
Will PC players and console player be able to send friend requests and game invites to each other? I feel like it would have to have its own online account system for that to work.
