PS3/Xbox 360 SOUL CALIBUR V Stick

I guess I’m saying it is easy because I’m a Modder.
But Dual Modding this is just like any Dual Mod.

I ask this all the time, but are there pic of the inside of this thing yet?

Getting a peek at the insides of the Hori Soul Calibur V joystick off that Japanese website, it’s sort of hard to see the joystick mount. May we presume that this is a universal joystick mount? Not absolutely sure but is this a new joystick mount design or a reuse of the stick mount design that was used in the HRAP V3/VX cases?

I see a mount that sort of looks like the HRAP V3/VX mount –

Mechanically simpler than the older HRAP 2-3 style joystick mounts.

I was going to order it from horiusa.com but I saw that you guys don’t accept Pay Pal and there isn’t a shipping estimate price before entering all the info :frowning:

Question for our Hori Rep —

Has Hori-Japan given an official name for the Soul Calibur V style of case? Is it going to be called something like HRAP N3 SA (“Noir-3”) or is a new category name in the works?

The same style case is being used for the Gundam Extreme Vs joystick that’s getting released a few months later this year.
You’d think there would be an in-house company name for a new style case.

After sending back my faulty stick back to Japan, I ordered another one from ebgames.com and received it yesterday.

To my surprise, it didnt work again…not wanting to deal with another long & expensive process of sending the stick back & waiting for refunds to happen. I decided to opened up the front panels and take a look inside. I immediately discovered that the USB wire was not connected to the PCB. At the risk of voiding the warranty, I opened up the back plate & inserted the USB wire back to the PCB.

Congratulations to myself, cos the stick worked perfectly after what I did.

I can’t help but wonder if the 1st stick I received was not working due to the same problem. Seriously? a short plane ride dislodged the wire??? After having owned both the Hori Tekken 6 & HRAP V3 SA, I seriously couldnt believe that this kinda problem could happen so easily.

Dear Hori, please do yourself a favor and do a better QC (Quality Control) for all your products. Especially since you all dont provide warranty service outside of USA or Japan, your loyal overseas customers like myself are left to either return the items or do DIY repairs at the cost of voiding the product warranty (which is kinda useless since it doesnt cover overseas customers).

Thank You.

Not to mention the boxes are terrible and the egg carton packaging from every hori stick i have bought is falling apart when i take it out the box.

and a question to the hori rep: Can i get a replacement start button from hori???

At this point we do not have a set name for the NOIR based model that we are currently using for the SoulCalibur V Stick and a new category name is in the works. We will keep you updated as we receive more information.

So it would be pretty easy for me to dual mod this if i purchase the ps3 version?

It would be easier to dual mod the 360 version, not PS3.

^ what PCB would i need to dual mod the 360 version vs the ps3 version?

Also are these sold at any brick and mortar stores besides just buying online?

I’d recommend a ChImp SMD

The internets is far greater than bricks and mortar ever was.

Heres the thing. i have a cathulu sp? board currently. I also have a stick that has a 360 controller PCB in it (that i could just take out) So to save money i was planning on using one of those. Not sure if they would work though

The Hori SCV stick’s still kinda new at this point in time… People will have a better idea on how to mod it over the next few months.

The thing you can do now is post detailed pictures of what you’re planning to mod.

You can talk about it all you want but for most people here it’s much easier to understand what you want to do and what parts and tools you have now IF you post pics of them.

Honestly, that solves 85% of the issues people have. You can’t get help if you don’t post pics of the PCB you want to mod! Usually, there’s an electrical engineer or electronics hobbyist who can figure out where you need to make connections, soldering, etc.
