Thank you for your response, I’ve sent an email as directed and will await for your customer support department’s reply.
Got my stick on the 30th and I think its pretty solid…just got to change the awful colors as its for xbox and switch the far to octo or circular.
Any word on how to acquire one of these sticks in South East Asia?
I really really love this stick! I have one gripe with it though… The start button is made to accommodate pretty much only hori made button’s.
I guess to some people it doesn’t matter but id at least like the option to replace it with sanwa in case something happens to it. excellent stick otherwise
Still no pictures of the inside of this stick?
I’m pretty sure the start button is a Grey Sanwa.
Its a hori button and has a square notched alongside the ring. A sanwa button will be loose if you replace it. I spent most of last night messing wit it and im pretty sure its a hori button. has the grey prongs that are connected to the micro switch which are uneven unlike the sanwa that has the 2 gold which are side by side.
what im wondering is do all hori start buttons have that square notched into em? I doubt it??? Cause i dont recall any of the other hori’s haveing it. but its been quite some time since ive replaced stock hori buttons. and im also wondering if you can get a replacement from hori if you need it.
Whoops my bad. I didn’t notice it. I kind of assumed it would be all sanwa. I would just put a Sanwa switch in the Hori button if it ever breaks.
[edit] All you use that for is for start anyways. It should be a Sanwa though…
Tragedy is not happy right now -.-
After what has been LESS than 24 hours of total play time, my stick is already sounding a bit “off.” As in, the stick has started to make strange clunky, crunchy kind of sounds when moved. Moving downward emits the “clunk” noise, and any other direction will, pretty much randomly, make a crunching sound.
So I have 2 questions…
If I open the stick just to see if maybe something got a bit loose and just needs tightening, will that void the warranty? I noticed somebody mentioned there’s a plate or something between the stick/buttons and the PCB, so I was wondering if maybe it might be fair game to do such a thing.
If number 1 isn’t true, do I seriously, actually, have to eat the shipping costs to get it replaced?
…
I myself do not own these sticks but it could just be the parts inside. Maybe wires or other parts because it looks like a huge stick with probably a lot of space inside. Is it affecting your gameplay or rather just make you nervous of a fiasco that has yet to come.
Otherwise you will have to wait for Hori’s answer as I’m afraid your issue could occur to new buyers or others who own the stick.
Others have indicated in other threads that there is indeed a “spacer” of sorts between the stick/buttons and the actual PCB. That’s why I posed the original question as to whether or not accessing that half of the box would void the warranty, because if I could take a look, I could probably fix it.
I’m guessing that it’s probably just hitting/grinding against that spacer, which would mean something probably just came loose and harm probably has yet to occur and just needs some correcting to make sure no damage occurs.
But alas… here we are 4 days later lol
If the stick is crunchy/grinding then it is an issue with the Sanwa stick itself. If you’re inclined to replace it on your own, you can do so and it is rather easy. Hori team made it easy to swap out sticks. If you need help with that then let Tech Talk know.
Should go ahead and remove the top panel for access to stick it will not void warranty, the warranty sticker is on bottom panel. So if you just want to check for damage or loose parts do so.
I know how to swap the stick. That’s a non-issue. The issue is that, after under 24 hours of use, my $150 product (granted, the specific part is about $30) is exhibiting symptoms of the kind of problem that I shouldn’t be having within such a short time frame.
So essentially if I can open the box and take a look-see without voiding the warranty, I’d rather do that first just to be sure something isn’t either loose or that no foreign object slipped under the dust washer. Only reasons I don’t want to immediately assume the worst are that the “clunky” sound is only in one direction, and honestly just sounds like its knocking on something from being loose; and regarding the crunchy sound, it doesn’t always do it (at least not consistently in the same direction), so I wanted to be sure some foreign object hadn’t just wriggled its way in.
Otherwise, Hori is going to replace the thing. I’m not eating the cost of repairing such a thing when I’ve barely even used it, even if I’d be stuck without a stick for at least 2 weeks if I have to have it replaced. Granted I can borrow a TE to play on at locals, it still means I can’t practice 6 days out of the week (not to mention, this would have been the first full week I even had the time since I bought it >_<), and I frankly suck using TEs to begin with. I tend to have a bit of “finger knocking” between my hands when I play on em and my wrists aren’t very fond of em either lol. That little bit of extra space helps a whoooole lot =/
On a completely unrelated note… What’s good MarkMan!
Edit: Good to know Typhoon. Will look into it.
Edit 2: Post-autopsy results say that MarkMan is right… gonna have to get it replaced. I was accurate on my assessment of the knocking sound though. It had a hint of wobble.
Furthermore, I’m gonna go ahead and get an extra JLF next month for backup in case of emergency failure when I decide on what direction I want to go as far as artwork and button replacements.
Sooo, what’s the word on dual modding this thing…
Yes, it is easy to Dual Mod.
OK, I give. Can you point me towards that info?
