Haven’t posted in a while cause I’ve been tapped for ideas and was hoping to come up with something more to add. Oh, and I can’t wire for shit, but I’m still willing to be a fund donor.
Not sure if either option will be allowed at tournaments, y’know? I want this to have everything I need, while still staying within tournament rules.
Any help is appreciated, man. Thanks
It would certainly fall within the Evo guidelines. I’d be very surprised if you got trouble about it.
Hmm, alright. I seem to remember reading something that said Hitboxes were banned at Evo. I could always be mistaken though. It wouldn’t surprise me if I was
Well, there’s nothing particularly subtle about the ‘bunches of buttons’ approach… have you tried playing on a keyboard?
Yes I have, and it’s nearly impossible for me
Ok. Well, then bunches of buttons is probably not a good route to go.
http://www.evilcontrollers.com/products/evil-accessibility/adroit-controller.html might be something might not. good luck.
Yeah, no, it isn’t.
On the flip side, all the updates on SC5, UMvC3, SFxT, etc., are making me even more hype. That said, we are really in need of wirers
The search for wirers continues… sigh
I can wire sticks, and I am willing to donate my services to help out.
If we can get some to make the case, and provide parts I can wire the thing.
Thank you. Wiring is what has really stopped this project from advancing.
For the time being, the case will be cardboard, so I can test it first, before handing it off to Project Giant Sword for the final case.
As for parts, I’m going to need help with that, because I don’t know what is needed. I’ll ask the donors (who are on page 1)
I just recieved your pm sorry about that I was at Devastation AZ this weekend… I havent been keeping up with this thread but it looks like your getting close to your goal… I dont have a lot of time due to a heavy work schedule this month but if you cant find someone to wire I can help out… just not this month… its been really busy…
It’s okay. It took a few hours and a tweet from MadCatz to figure out you might be at Devastation.
Right now, we need to get the parts together. Darksakul said he(?) would wire the pad, but I don’t know what we need/where to get it.
Also there’s Project Giant Sword to think about. We’ll need money for that final case, correct?
Good deal. She will do a good job wiring for sure! Good to see the project starting to take shape… PGS will take some funds yes…very good case…valb and montoia do awsome work!
Darksakul, I’m sorry, you never know someone’s gender online?
Blind, regarding PGS, yeah, I figured we would need funds. That’s why I don’t want to tap you, the current donors too much. So you can still help with PGS.
Part of the reason why PAP, this project has been slow to take shape is because I’ve been working on POP with Rufus
As far as electronics parts for your Fighting pad. I would suggest the MC Cthulhu PCB by Toodles.

I would suggest that you go the RJ-45 jack route to make it multiconsole compatible.

A usb would handle PC and PS3 support. For PS2 support you could have a PS2 cable made. If you need xbox 360 support you can use the ps2 cord with a PS2 to 360 convertor.
I suggest that for this pad you should just do a rapid prototyping phase. Try to go to a local pizza place and ask if you can have a few pizza boxes. Get maybe 20 or 24mm sanwa screw in push buttons, wire the buttons and pcb inside the case. Get a 24mm(15/16in) holesaw drill bit and just do some rapid prototypes on cheap cardboard pizza boxes to see what works and what doesn’t. Actually play on the PS3 and reflect on what works and what doesn’t. Another thing you can do is go order a bunch of free Medium flat rate postage boxes from USPS.com

When you have done a few mockups you will have a better idea of what works for you and can take pictures for Project Giantsword.
I have the feeling that talking about designing things and showing pictures and diagrams is kind of like playing theory fighter on posting on SRK but never playing the game. So in designing this Fighting pad, there actually has to be some cheap way to test these ideas before committing money to the final design.
Wow, no idea how I’ve missed this thread.
Anyways, I can wire pretty well, and I can offer a hand in that. I’m not BlindWithOneArm, but it’s the least I can do to help.
I think for this, if you needed all three systems, get a Paewang PCB from eTokki, or one of the PS360 PCBs, and a PS1 digital pad. For a fightstick, this is sufficient and probably not a lot of hassle on you either. In order switch between PS3 and 360 modes, you’d just hold the turbo button down when changing the cable from the different systems (I didn’t read if turbo was being put on this pad yet, but if so, that’s two birds with one stone), and you could probably find a PS1 digital pad dirt cheap at Goodwill/Salvation Army/used game stores/thrift shops/pawn shops, and they’re one of the easiest pads in the world to hack.
