how does that reflect on CS again?
oh yea it doesnt…at all
Since people still dont get it:
unlicensed (n-lsnst)
adj.
- Having no official license.
- Done without permission; not authorized.
- Lacking moral restraint; unrestrained.

inPin isn’t a Sony licensed product either. I still ordered one though since it works with 2.7 and I was going to get one anyway before they sold out. If or when inPin stops working after a future firmware update is when I expect a site-wide uproar. I suspect iffy coding in the converters conflicting with the code in 2.7. So no more adapters made in China, where the PS3 isn’t even sold there, for me.
Sure, in fact I ABSOLUTELY get it. What I’m saying is, people bought Sony’s console. Sony hasn’t released a PS3 arcade stick (since even the Hori sticks aren’t authorized) and doesn’t seem like they’re going to. (BUT HEY, they DO license SEVERAL fighting games!) So people find joystick solutions. Heck, at one point Sony even goes out of the way with updates to make them work! (back on the 1.5 update.) Later tho, Sony (probably by accident, but who knows) disables (at least some of) their solutions, and when people ask for help, says that it’s not their problem. That’s some fine service IMO. But hey, Sony has NEVER been known for customer service, at least where Playstation is concerned… and before you decide I don’t know what I’m talking about, I’ve been selling Sony consoles and accessories for almost 8 years now. I’ve spoken with Sony a number of times for people over the years, and it’s NEVER their problem.
Who’s to say that 2.9 won’t disable something you like?
Edit: And just so you know, one of the main reasons I passed on my TE stick for PS3 and got one for 360 instead was… yep, you guessed it… The 360 one is licensed.
so what ps2 to ps3 adapters are licensed by sony? i have sumoto, and since they will most likely not be fixing the issue, i’ll need something that will be guaranteed to work in the long run
None are.
No I dont think you get it, because you still dont seem to understand that CS doesn’t apply to unlicensed stuff, end of issue.
That anecdote is accurate, because guess what, its a bonus and not their problem. If you think that is isolated to Sony then either you are a fanboy or need more exposure to the evils of the game industry.
Never known for their customer service? Sorry for being abrasive but that is pure bullshit. Do you know how many phone calls I took giving customers free repairs because of the DRE issue? Their customer service is as good as any large ass company trying to exploit the world for riches, which is ALL OF THEM.
And selling them doesnt mean crap, as you are just a tool of marketing like any other person trying to make a buck. Calling sony? like its some person? and its never their problem?
The idea about them fessing up to some issue is great for a laugh though, although its heavily naive. Here is something that should clarify your misdirected hate: R and D and Customer Service are not the same dept.
I mean I’m only trying to provide some perspective of people on the other side of the issue. Do you know why I bought a ps3 arcade stick, 3-red-lightssssssssss
I hope my nephew dosen’t update…
d0c_zaius works for sony. He’s the reason shit dont work. jk…ish
This stuff is the #1 headline on qj.net right now…and people in the comments are bashing sony for releasing crappy firmware. Soon or later Sony is gonna do something about this.

:badboy:
Okay Doc, I’ll retort one last time, then I’m sure you will, and we’ll be done. Ok?
So you work (or at least have worked) for Sony? That’s why you’re speaking from the company handbook? I respect that. I may be a “tool of marketing” but don’t discount the guys out there on the sales floors hustling to sell your machines. We have an investment in the brand too you know.
I said right up front that the adapters were unlicensed third party adapters, and like I said and you admit, Sony says “Not our problem.” I don’t see where the disconnect is here. I don’t take returns from other stores, because I don’t work there, even if I sell the same item. Not my problem.
So did I EXPECT action? No. Am I telling people to spam Sony? No. Am I worried that future updates will further limit my consoles capability? Yes. And you and no one else can say what the next PS3 update will bring. But hey, at least the unpredictability keeps things interesting on the Sony side of the street.
As for the DOZENS of times I’ve had to call 1-800-345-SONY… Same person? No. Same number? Sure. Same attitude? Always. I’ve NEVER heard of Sony dishing out a free repair unless you were LIVID, and even then, it was rare. And believe what you will, on my side of the industry we believe this… Nintendo will solve your issue willingly, Microsoft will if they have to, and Sony (usually) won’t.
Finally, at least Microsoft admitted the RROD issue before they got sued… I don’t recall, but didn’t Sony get hit with a class action suit? Funny how quickly people forgot about Disc Read Errors… and flipping PS1’s on their sides to use them… and blinky NES consoles…
So we cool Doc? I own your systems. I believe in your products (they’ve treated me well) and I just put an xplod in my car… I like it! But it’s pretty weak when your console works with an accessory one day and doesn’t the next, and I’m sorry I feel that way, but I do. But I do also appreciate you defending your brand. To me, it matters at the end of the day, my accessory with the XBOX logo on it will work after I update (or replace my console, go Microsoft!) and like we have both made clear… no license, no promise. But that’s more against MadCatz than Sony, as I’m sure they could have submitted their products and paid the license fees and got them licensed.
Hmm well I guess I came off like a jerk and I apologize.
I’m not actually trying to defend Sony’s practices as much as provide insight and save people some frustration from going off of only consumer expectations.
By marketing tool, I simply meant that your focus is selling machines, and most retailers definitely mold the truth to fit their bottom line. Whether that is you specifically or not I can’t judge. By disconnect, I was simply referring to your use of the term Customer Service, as CS is a department vs simply providing a service to the customers.
Im not sure where you get your impressions on differing CS qualty being based on the company, but its a little questionable. Nintendo is no where near the golden god of decency that you think they are, and MS and Sony and virtual clones in this department. I dont know anyone that forgot about Playstation 1 or 2 errors, but I know people throw them out every time RROD is mentioned. My personal experience involves RROD after two hours of owning my first console. My ps2 may have had DREs, but its still functioned at least. Whether thats less extreme than RROD or not is debatable.
That being said, im not a sony fanboy, just trying to give some perspective. If my new custom stick stopped working, I’d be mad pissed. But I’d have to get over it and find a solution, be it ps3 stick or whatever (play on xbox heh).
sorry for my random rant lol
Can you not update or is it requiered
you have to update if you go online or login
yeah… sucks that my adapters worked for 1 day… now i’m looking to return them asap. This just made it pointless… I guess it’s good to be PC Gamers!!! SF4, hurry up on the PC!!!
Hi all,
For those who have a Sumoto adapter, can you please tell me your model #?
I just received my Sumoto adapter but haven’t opened it up (due to this incident I might have to ‘refuse delivery’ to receive refund). However, as many of you have suggested, I, too, e-mailed Sony support complaining.
Surely, they sent back a drone like reply with links indicating non-license non-support blah blah this blah blah that.
I didn’t really bother reading the content of the link and sent them back an angry e-mail:
I don’t know if the above exchange of e-mails means they may look into supporting Sumoto (I don’t see why they’d bother to ask for the model #). So if anybody could do me a favor and forward me your model #'s, I will reply back with them.
Thanks,
Will
This has nothing to do with “business ethics”, being “ethical”, “throwing away money”, “shitty service”, etc.
However if you want someone on their end to actually take your mini-rant seriously and check with the Tech team, you should try and reduce your needless attitude.
Or maybe you just call things shitty before you expect them to help you?
I’ve had trouble with my HRAP in Analog mode (using the ‘1’ switch) during the XMB randomly. It works fine if I set it to use the digital pad. But if I use the left stick mode, the XMB won’t register a down movement most the time. Anyone else have this issue?
Ah Crap there goes my converters playing SFIV…
Does the USB Saturn Controllers work with the 2.7 update?
I would think so. Only converters are the problem.
