Maybe, but it isn’t something that should be that hard to fix if they can pinpoint the problem of something they screwed up to be located somewhere between two patches for the system…
haha you just described every patch released. Semi-joking.
If someone wants to post a link to the company’s product description I can run it around to some people and try to get some answers.
I had my TAC converter plugged in during the update, and…well you know the rest. Luckily it started working agian after i unplugged everything but now there’s an odd graphical glitch that comes on after a while that causes most of the icons, keys on the keyboard screen, and some menus to look like they’re slanting into the background. Everything still works, it’s just a pain to see sometimes and it doesn’t happen while playing games (only in the ps menu, store, etc).
While I’m overjoyed that i don’t owe my friend a replacement ps3 (atm), i’m worried this’ll blow up in my face later. Has anyone else experienced/ know how to fix this? Any help is much appreciated
Had my sumoto plugged in during the update, everything seems to be running okay for me, but I’ll be damned for having to get new converters. I was really looking forward to working on my Dhalsim today, so its a total bummer really.
My converter freezes the *!$#@$ out of my ps3 on start or in mid gameplay =/
Have you guys try to replace the PS2 adapter with a USB adapter? I know this will require soldering but it’s worth a try.
I went to the PS3 forums and I’ve been seeing some topics that this update bricked their PS3s. Also someone said that his madcatz arcade stick made his PS3 freeze. I don’t think that Sony disabled adapters, this is just a broken firmware.
either way it’s annoying have to check the internet to see when I can update my firmware, rather than just updating it =P i’m NOT buying a new converter if I don’t have to.
yeah, i have a sumoto and a tac. Unplugged during the update. Plugged back in, doesn’t work. I guess I’m SOL. Back to 2.6 for me!
I had my adapter (not sure of the brand) plugged in when i upgraded, and the system would not turn back on after the restart. Whenever I plug in the adapter the system freezes and i have to restart with the switch in the back. Annoying considering the only reason I bought a ps3 was for Fighting games which i play with an arcade stick.
Is there a list yet of the adapters that are working?
How do you downgrade the firmware?
from another thread so far the confirmed working adapters are:
inpin, pelican, hais, and someone said radioshack ones
wait… you’re right… after research, it says that I cannot downgrade my firmware
Sony messed up because you had non-Sony branded peripherals attached to the system while performing a System Software update?
Yeah, okay.
pelican works great still… Paranoid tho, you never know what sonys doing. oh and PS3 RAP wont work for VF5 now wtf.
What? Isn’t the HRAP a Sony licensed stick??
Really? According to Hori’s Website, they are the “premier licensed” peripheral maker for all 3 major consoles. Hm… interesting…
Well, looking at some images, I don’t see a PS logo anywhere on it, so I guess it isn’t. That’s awesome, so any HRAP, FS3, SE or TE could be rendered useless with one update. Damn, that’s Sony customer service right there.
This does not look good. I’m buying a frikkin’ xbox if this is true. Who knows what’s next to go…
Wow, so I can avoid the update but be unable to play online, or I can update, and lose all use in my sumoto. That’s awesome.
Hi Faux123…
I actually use an x-arcade stick as well…does it really lag? I have nothing to compare it too so maybe it does. I do notice that sometimes I can’t jump back or I lose the use of my roundhouse button for a few seconds…which is damn frustrating!!:wasted:
Well, add me to the list of disabled converter users (TAC). I did order an InPin converter yesterday to replace the TAC so now I have to wait however many days or weeks till that arrives. Not a good start to the weekend…
