Ps3 2.6 update + sumoto converter

i’m happy for the people that own those, but the sad truth is that it does nothing for me :frowning:

i have a TAC.

FYI, InPin is back in stock for anyone who is out of commission.

Yeah, I heard back from my source, it’s confirmed (to me, anyways), the 2.7 kills Sumotos. He updated then tested it with his T5 stick. The system freezes if you try to plug it in after startup, and just boots to a black screen if you start with it plugged in. SOAB.

That really sucks, as the Sumoto was a hell of a converter for the price. Looks like I won’t be updating until I score a couple Inpins from laugh.

Sumoto - March 2009 - April 2009 RIP. :lame:

so you can’t use the Sumoto converter under guitar mode?

Sumoto’s Key mapping for directional input under Guitar mode is all messed up and you can’t remap directional keys in almost all games. So 2.70 has effectively killed one of the best adapters available.

I am totally hosed by 2.70. I used PSX digital pads for ALL MY DUAL PCB mods, so right now I am stuck because most working adapters under 2.70 have problems with PS1 digital PCBs. I really f*cking hate SONY right now…

My guy said he was going to Sony’s site to downgrade to 1.6… can you do this? Would it help?

You can downgrade to lower version, but you can’t go on-line, so unless your friend don’t play any on-line games, downgrading is not an option for us on-line gamers…

It may be a crappy converter, but does anyone know if the X-Arcade adapter works? I’ll be checking when I get home but for now I’d like to know.

More concern to me is the sharing of PSN games though. If that’s gone I’m royally screwed since half my stuff is shared.

I actually have an X-arcade ps2 to ps3 adapter. It sorta “works” after 2.70.

The X-arcade adapter even before 2.70 lagged like crazy and it drops inputs if you hold the back direction for more than 4 seconds. So it “works” under 2.70 but to me it is totally unusable.

Yeah, that’s fine for me kinda, but he does use his PS3 online, so he’s pretty pissed.

Nice, sounds like they don’t give a damn or have any intentions of fixing this. I bet the only one they would even care about would be the Pelican.

Yeah, looks like a few posters were right about hard times and bad economy. Looks like Sony is slowly eliminating loop holes and UNLICENSED 3rd party peripherals and making PS3 a closed ecosystems like the XBOX 360.

I don’t mind Sony doing this but I DO MIND that they DIDN’T put up WARNING MESSAGES when upgrading to new firmware. I remember when Nintendo started to close loop holes and hacks they at least have the COURTESY to warn their users that their hacks will NOT work anymore. PS3 is not only my gaming console but its also my main Blu-ray player (I have 600+ blu-rays), it was NOT funny when it was bricked because Sony decided NOT to support UNLICENSED 3rd party peripherals.

Lame… makes you wonder if they’ll eliminate the rest of the working converters in the next patch too. God their timing’s pretty awful for something like this considering the number of people shelling out money for stick modding that could get F-ed up by this.

I can understand your frustration, but this isnt anything new. Unlicensed periphs have NEVER been supported, this going all the way back to PS1 days. Do you know how many people lost save data due to crappy 3rd party memory cards?

Like I said, your frustration is understandable, however your expectations are unrealistic. Testing every unsupported product and making sure the firmware is compatible is definitely not going to happen. Asking them to put up a warning is kinda pointless, as its implied when you use the product as it is Unlicenced (ie, untested, no guarantee, subject to change at any notice, etc)., especially if you are talking about using modded joysticks from PCBs designed for a console that stopped production years ago.

When we test periphs for a game, we check some unlicenced, but checking them all? I’m not sure you are aware how many junk products are out there. However, if it becomes a large enough issue, I am sure they will patch it.

Sweet, good to know. Time to update.

I don’t care what Sony says, those who have a Sumoto or TAC adapter Keep sending Sony messages every day until they resolve this issue.

Or you could contact TAC and let them know Sony has made one of their products obsolete with the latest firmware. Three scenarios may follow.

(1) TAC produces a new converter that works again after the latest patch.

(2) They contact Sony asking for a fix. We should hope this is the case. Another company might have more sway over Sony than user requests that ends at tech support and doesn’t go up the chain of command.

(3) Nothing happens on both sides. In which case either wait for a 2.71 patch that may or may not come out in the next week or the 2.80 update and hope the adapters work again. Chances are it’ll only be a matter of time before every third party adapter stops working, including the ones from dealextreme and inPin (if it isn’t licensed by Sony).

In the meantime Sumoto still works well as a PS>PC adapter granted it doesn’t support DDR mode. PnP driver is better than trying to work with DS3 on PC drivers and I can use it to play PC SF4 once that drops.

(4) An April fools joke(I hope), Sony is just messing with yall. They will release another firmware to fix this curse.

If sony didnt prioritize getting guitar hero 3 controllers to work with Rock Band, I dont think they are going to care about a tiny minority of consumers complaining about one unlicensed periperial, especially since the market is unregulated and mostly used by importers/modders.

I’m not trying to sound like a dick but that is exactly what the CS person is going to be thinking without telling you to your face (or over the phone).
