PS2/PS3 compatibility stuff

Just to share some happy news: Per from Akihabara Shop confirms they can get the Elecom JC-PS201U. It’s currently still the best solution and it will be at least a month before any solution releases in North America (or Europe).

It looks like the nyko adapter won’t be coming out anytime soon

Here’s some converter info…

one works with PS2 games… :stuck_out_tongue:

The bottom one.

The one that has no part number, no manufacturer information, no source of where to buy it or even where THEY bought theirs.

Fuck lot of good that is. No difference between that and the guys posting up pictures of their TV saying have a prototype Mark of the Wolves 2.

Well, it’d help if someone can find out that information, I’ve been looking around and unfortunately haven’t found out any place to order it…

I’ve only been able to get it from a friend in Saudi Arabia who first found the converters…

The converters MarkMan posted look similar to the Pelican converters that DreamTR has been talking about.

Maybe them Saudis got an early batch somehow from Pelican? :looney:

Thanks a ton for the new info, guys.

Saudia Arabia… man, who would’ve ever guessed?! :looney:

Well, I can assure you that Pelican’s does not look like anyone else’s. Also, it will work with Guitar Hero I and II.

Is there a solid release date?

^-- Co-sign. I’m one of many people here who will instantly preorder this once that’s possible.

Thanks for working on this.

hey deadfrog, did you find out where we can buy that converter?

Just wondering does anyone know if the following converters are lag free ?

Logic 3 converter

Mbileplace converter

Snakebyte converter

Just got my Logic3 PS915 Converter 45 mins. ago.

Arcade Stick tested: Regular HRAP
Guitar from Guitar Hero worked in the PS3 menu, but I cannot test it in-game, since the game is not possible to play on an EU PS3.

Uses Select+Up as PS-Button - works well

Tested on VF5 and T5DR
I can only say that I’m really happy with it, 5 Akira Knee’s in a row - I’m a stick-newb. Wolf Perfect Giant Swings from neutral - they normally requires a dash in, N, HCF+P+G.

Consistent EWGF’s in T5DR

Works with PS2 Games: Tekken 4 and Tekken 5
9 out of 10 EWGF in a row attempts worked in T5, remember I suck with sticks.

From my point of view, being a total stick newb being able to pull off Akira Knee 5times succesfully in a row, and being able to step in T5DR as I usually do - All in all the converter is LAG FREE.

Just to clarify, the converter 100% works with Guitar Hero I.

In Guitar Hero II, you can’t do any Hammer-ons or Pull-offs, tilt sensor does not work for star power (you have to press select only), and you can’t use Tutorial Mode. Everything else is fine.

As far as bonafide release date, sometime in late May it looks like…it’s done, it’s more of a manufacturing issue.

How is the converter for other games that require special peripherals? Like those Konami music games?

As long as I have no lag for fighting games that’s all that really matters to me. lol

Just got one of these today and I’ve noticed that if I hold back on the stick after three or four seconds the input just drops (i.e. the character is left standing there in neutral), I’ve tried a HRAP 1 and an official ps2 dualshock and the same thing happens on both. Did this happen to you or do I just have a fucked converter?

I haven’t noticed any commands dropping, but I know what you mean, I have to look into this.

RE-TESTING Information: Tested Regular HRAP and Sony PS2 controller, same flaw.

Guys I’m freaking sorry!! If you hold LEFT (no matter what side you are on) for 3 seconds, your character will stop moving/blocking. I never noticed this because I play VF5 (Block button) and T5DR where Neutral in Tekken = Blocking. Remember only LEFT has this problem, you can hold any other direction for as long as you wish.

I tested this holding the directional button, each way (8 ways) for 20 seconds. I repeat only LEFT suffers from this.

Dashing is not affected by this at all, remember only HOLDING, LEFT for 3 seconds causes this flaw, you reset the “timer” if you press another direction.

WARNING - 2D Fighting Games primarily
All gamers, that play fighting games that require holding LEFT to block, I advice you to stay away from this converter.

3D Fighting gamers will fortunately not notice this, only if they WALK left for 3 seconds holding the directional button down - which will not happen with above newbie players.

I repeat I’m very sorry - I sincerely hope you guys didn’t buy this for the purpose of 2D fighters alone.

  • Uthred thank you very much for informing us.

kyoji: No lag, I was playing PS2 online with MK2 with this converter.

Works fine on music games. Beatmania, Guitar Freaks, etc.

After the recent PSN update to 1.7, pc to ps2 converters should work. However there are still one problem as I mentioned above with the Logic3 converters, so better keep away from them if you like 2D fighter’s.
