revolution isn’t gonna happen. People don’t have the heart nor will to wage one.
Also, that’s scary as to how almost every single county in the US has real assault rifles. If dumb asses ask themselves,
“why do civilians need a fully automatic rifle”
Then why do police need them to. Seriously. And it’s apperant that this isn’t about the issues. This is now gonna be spun in this manner, thug vs good cop. disgusting
got damn, look at all the shit California is buying up.
Most of our parents are still alive. Wait a few years, until they die off, and it’s us and our children…the world is a powder keg right now, we’re just waiting for the right spark.
The Battle of Thermoplyae was, more or less, fought with similar weapons.
You’re not accounting for the shit that got wheeled out as a precaution. St Louis police, we now know, has sonic and microwave weaponry. That shit’s mass scale. That’s worse than tear gas a million fold. You’re not rioting when you think you are on fire.
Not even nukes. If the police want to bring the hammer down, they will. There will be no mercy. It will be microwaves, sonic weaponry, and various gases to keep you down, then they’ll just round you up. I was at the G20 Summit in Toronto. Trust me, if the government wants you to know your role, they will definitely and easily remind you.
You seriously underestimate the power that got shown off in Ferguson, and that’s a sad thing. About 50,000 people got shown who was boss, and aside from some minor store burning and looting, had zero chance of defeating what was essentially an invading army.
Note that there is always more to the story. There are the angry people yelling and protesting. There are the criminals looting. And you can see there are people trying to keep things peaceful. Black Panthers were guarding stores to keep people from looting them.
Of course it wasn’t justified. If you put 5 bullets into an unarmed kid, there’s hardly any justification for that, especially when he had been shot once and was surrendering.
I initially thought this took place at night and it was hard for the officer to see whether or not the kid had a gun or not and was willing to cut him a little slack, but after hearing this took place in the afternoon, fuck that. The guy was pissed off and on a powertrip.
According to an article I read last night, one of the principles of the 1033 program is that the police forces who get said vehicles and gear have to use them in the first year they get them or they have to give them back. So the police departments have a lot of incentive to try and break them out. :wtf:
The thing is, we have NO IDEA what the feds have up their sleeves. The cellular technology we use today was supposedly being used by the military in the 40s. For all we know, they could have hyper mutagen guns that could rearrange your DNA and make you retard where you stand. I’d bet there’s a HUGE disparity between what they have and what the populace has. I can’t imagine they’d broadcast what kinds of cutting edge top secret weaponry they have.
All that said: What I’ve learned from this is that it’s ourselves we need to be worried about, not “terrorists.” I’m far more worried about the government and local police forces than the Islamic equivalent of rednecks.
So what happens in Ferguson a month from now? The protests will most likely have come to an end, but there will be a huge rift between the citizens and the police. If the same officers are working there are they going to respond to calls with the urgency that they should? I’d imagine a strong sense of apathy will permeate through the entire force if something isn’t done. There already reports of them refusing to respond to looters at stores.
Jack Dorsey, the co-creator and co-founder of Twitter, is back in his hometown supporting the organized effort by the LEOs (eg. Captain Ron Johnson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol), community leaders, and peaceful protesters:
Goddamn, I’m chocking on the irony here. Who’s showing bias with statements like “You try to come up with any kind of excuse for this shooting, and take the words of the COP AS GOSPEL WITHOUT ANY KIND OF CRITICAL ANALYSIS WHATSOEVER.” Who exactly has bias here? Who is entirely disregarding one party’s claim based on their group affiliation? Where was I taking the cop’s word as gospel? Did you miss the part where I said if my speculation was correct, the cop should be charged with manslaughter at the least? After that corn log, you still have the audacity to prattle on about confirmation bias and sleaze?
It’s a huge mess that will make the community all the worse for it. A cop who doesn’t have a legitimately prejudiced bone in his body that is burdened with a working brain will know what sort of accusations will fly if he responds to such a call at this point.
Police on standby if there is any outbreak of violence and looting. They are also protecting big and small businesses:
A state of emergency has been declared by the governor. A curfew is put in place for public safety. A lot of community leaders, including Antonio French, are in support of this curfew to root out the looters and let the LEOs take care of the violent ones. There are others who are against the curfew because they feel it is a violation of the rights. Don’t forget there’s always a chance some rogue officer(s) will do whatever they can to start violent behavior too. Some people including news media and Antonio French are reporting that there are “outsiders” who are there to intentionally start violence by throwing things at the officers.
no, but wearing one at a public protest makes you a target for police brutallity.
Look up at the fiasco with the University of California when they where hiking tuition prices by a large sum during the middle of the recession. Anybody wearing a gas mask was targeted by police. I believed it also happened in the more violent “occupy” movements that happened around the same time.
IIRC, there was one police officer who grabbed the gas mask and peppered sprayed inside the mask. Obviously, under state law, you cannot defend yourself from police aggression as that is illegal. I’d like to get legislation where if police attack you for no reason like that, you can meet them with equal or deadly force. After all, the police are citizens too that aren’t above the law, and part of the abuse issue is that they can escalate the situation all they want even to the point of violence and not be held accountable, but rather the victim is now responsible has committed assaulted an officer of the law.
I realize this is radical, but it’s clearly falls within the right to protect oneself from domestic and foreign aggression as written by the constitution.
Although the curfew is getting support by both sides, it is going to bring up another issue. It is going to make it tough for the media to do their jobs and cover everything that’s going on in Ferguson (censorship anyone?).
