i’ll think of more, but props to everyone in the NW scene let’s make the North westside a beast!

Thanks Josh that means a lot coming from a “vet” like you
I’d like to shout out to all the people that have either put up with me or the bullshit from the o so fucked up company Gameworks. I know I’ve jumped down some throats over the years but if you ask anybody that knows me they’ll tell you it’s nothing personal in any way shape or form…I just happen to work for a shit log of a company and in their eyes I’m just a piece of corn. So, thank you all for being the people you are and supporting the scene I couldn’t live without.

Here’s my shoutouts:

Big shout out to Mr. Whitefolks, Paris aka MarvelKilla, Miyoung, KKF, Super Joe and all the old 253 kats. If it weren’t for any of these guys, I wouldnt’ve even known that there was a competitive community at all. Ed’s the one that got me into marvel, and got me playing Tron and finding bomb ass shit with her those many nights just kickin it at his house. Paris got me into learning Tekken (after Super Joe got that 70+ win streak on me down in tacoma). Even fronted me 5 bucks just so that I could keep on playing.

Big up’s to RIC aka SLA for teaching Seattle how to counter the world in SC2 back at Evo 2k3.

To ALL the old school Silver Coin peeps:

Rat: The foundation of it all for real. He was the one that was setting up the tournaments and had a passion for helping anyone that wanted to get better at marvel. Not only did he get you better, he got you better FAST.

Mandel: To think that you were going to trade in MvC2 that fatefull day we ran into each other…Imagine how history would’ve changed if you gave up on that game that day.

Sean: Big ups to this guy for letting a complete stranger crash at his house before a tournament. I still remember exactly what happened the first time we kicked it. I hopped in the car and Mandel was in the back, we stop at random gas station near GT, and alluvasudden Utada’s “Automatic” came on the CD player. I was instantly absorbed in her music. Thanks for showing me a broader taste of music, and always being there when I needed a hand in life.

There’s more to come, but I just got off of work. This could take multiple posts, cause so many people have came and gone in our scene it’s crazy.

props to the nw community for not making “soggy biscuit” a main event at random select.

lol.

A shout out to the old Fun N Games crew at the Alderwood Mall. Man, do I miss that arcade.

Billy/Gene- For teaching me the ways, and making me drop most of my scrubby tactics in fighting games.

EBM- For teaching me how to do a Hadoken when we were in the second grade or some shit. It changed fighting games forever for me! Damn, EBM be beasting even back in elementary school.

Scott Wang/Wangstress- For teaching me all the Marvel/Rival Schools combos back in the day. You need to get back into fighting games!

Nate/Mind & Iron- I appreciate all the effort you put into maintaining the fighting game cabinets. Your Abel just keeps getting better and better!

Josh/Messatsu Orochi- It is indeed a damn shame that I’ll be moving. I still have a month left bro, and you can crash at my place in Japan!

Mickey D- I appreciate all the Ryu tips, and random jokes you crack.

Mandel- For reppin’ Ms. Thunder Thighs in SFIV, and winning the last ranbat with her. I have much to learn from your Chun, sir.

Frankdadank- Your Bison continues to impress me!

Justin/Gray Fox- GameStop 714 respresent!

Mr. Cole- Although you were probably too drunk to remember, thank you for all the beer sir! LoL. Thanks for all of the useful SFIV tips as well.

Capcom/Ono- For making SFIV possible.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten some people…will add more later.

love>hate

Josh you’re a genius for making this thread man. I got a bunch of shoutouts! This will have to be a multi part set of posts or some shit.

Frankdadank-You along with Ed, were the ones who got me into competitive gaming and introduced me to SRK like eight years ago. Anyway, this man is partially responsible for me being the player I am today. It’s funny, cause the only advice he gave me was “play with some humility.” But it was the best advice I had been given in quite sometime. Out of everyone that hyped me up in the early days, I’d say Frank was the first person to actually hype me up. One of the best friends I ever had, my man, FRANKDADANK!

Zach-I remember the first time I saw him play. It was at a random Silver Coin tourney back in the day. I remember seeing him use some Silver Samurai/Tron team and I was thinking to myself “Wow this guy picked this team against Kuan?” LOL! Anyway, at that time, I didn’t know he was gonna be THE MAN. No idea that he would be Seattle’s saving grace (more than once I might add). I’m simply amazed at how nice/cool Zach is. Another person I consider a great friend. It was definitely dope watching him get better as a Marvel player. Ask yourself this question, where would we be without Zach?

Rat-I still remember that sign at Silver Coin back in the early days that said “If you wanna be the best, you got to beat the best.” And I remember lookin at that thinking “there’s no way this Rattana guy is that good.” It wasn’t until I actually sat down and played with him that I saw that he was THAT good. He was the first to expose me to high level play. I seriously couldn’t believe how good he was, and I was amazed he was so much better than I was. I couldn’t fathom it, but I was surprised that he would take the time to play with someone as weak as I was. But that is who Rat is. He wanted all of us to be good back then and didn’t mind playing with us, or teaching us stuff. I actually credit him for me being as good as I was in Marvel. He helped me more than he thinks back then, and I won’t forget it. So props to Mr.R@t!

Jason Cole-I gotta give this man props already. You’re the one I’m shooting for right now in SFIV. I feel that he’s pushing everybody to be great at the game which is dope. Always willing to help peeps out. Grandmaster Fro himself.

Mickey D-For being a fuckin savage in SFIV. Good lord. I still think about how crazy our match was last Saturday. If I didn’t play my best and clutch out that 2nd match, you would’ve easily taken it. I still think your time is coming Mickey. Thanks for listening to my advice, means a lot.

Krazy Korean Frank-I’m glad you’re playing a SF competitively. I haven’t seen anyone get that good that fast in a longtime. Especially when this is your first SF game. I’m also seriously impressed by how patient you are. It’s unbelievable. I’m gonna join you in your quest to try to get on the Evo DVD hahah.

Man, I’m gonna have to post more later on when I have more time =/.

oh cant forget my niggas team EZL, which doesnt mean anything but is an abbreviation for Ezelle’s hahahahaha

hmmm

this topic is homo…

props/respect to everyone who gives a damn about the scene.

Why did SC have to go?

I really want to give my respect to Mandel. There are far too many things I can say about this man as a game player, but most importantly this number is equally true when talking about him as an individual.

Mandel, you’ve really changed me as a player, and though I know I’ve expressed this to you numerous times, I cannot seem to thank you enough. You are truly a person who wants to teach and see people thrive and blossom. I just want to say that you are appreciated in this scene by many, but for me, you’ve changed quite drastically. You have taught me how to win, and you have taught me that after taking your losses, to not only learn from them, but also how to conquer what I lost to…as you put it “the ability to overcome.”

Thank you very much man, I appreciate everything you’ve done for me, and more importantly the scene as a whole. I can only wish to be able to teach people like you have taught me, and it really is what I strive to aim for.

I would like to give props to myself.

Starcraft aint going anywhere son.

Yes it is Starcraft 2 is going to take over starcraft.

South Center = real SC son! Well its Westfield now but whatever.

I would like to give props to Pablo as well. I would also like to give props to myself for giving props to Pablo for giving props to himself.

I would like to give props to Rairu for giving props to Pablo for giving props to himself. I would also like to give props to myself for giving props to Rairu for giving props to Pablo for giving props to himself.

. . . lol Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Because like almost all money-hungry arcade owners, they didn’t care about the players. And it bit them in the ass. Stupid redemption games. I was working at the Kitsap Silver Coin at the time, and I was assigned to help gut the South Center store of its machines. That was probably the longest day of my arcade life. Sad times going through that place, having to cart out machines.

Props to anyone who remembers who I am and that I actually did show up to tournaments a while back and such.

You mean back at those "Rattana MVC2 tournament with that little damn sign above the Mavhel machine?

Haha yeah definitely. Somewhere in a storage unit in Silverdale, that “MvC2 tournament Hosted by Rattana” sign is sitting there. If only I knew the new owners of Silver Coin; I know someone who would probably want that sign.

I was at a bunch of the SouthCenter tournaments from '00 to '01. I think one of the last ones I went to, Genghis, Jedi, JaHa, and few San Diego peeps were there.

props to Julian Blake and Nate – when I first ventured into these forums both of them were gracious enough to host a gaming session so I could play with them. I hadn’t played ST in about three years and my boxer was scrubby as hell (it wouldn’t have made it past round 1 in one of today’s tournaments)… I even had a hard time doing low rushes! But they were super nice and put up with me, and that’s what inspired me to go to Zach’s, meet other people, and eventually really get back into the game. Then going to Evo, getting a cabinet, etc … Probably without those two I would still have no idea people played fighting games and would be sitting at home muttering to myself thinking that ST is a distant memory.

Also want to give thanks to doughboy, I think people don’t realize how hard it is to run tournaments — he really did a great job organizing them and without that drive in season 1 we wouldn’t have had a regular tournament scene. By the way doughboy the xboxlive ranking team FINALLY got back to me so I think I’ll be able to code support for marvel rankings and other games – I know I’ve been saying that for a long time but I was waiting on getting some responses from them and they finally got back to me
