Project - VOLTECH Arcade Sticks

how much would a blank case cost voltech?

There is no such thing as “enough sticks”.

Yeah I just measured mine and I got 38mm on the dot.

giving this thread a nice friendly bump!

update man, update!

Small Update!!!

Hey guy’s I know progress is a little slow, but I only get to do this on the weekends right now. (Although things might change next month with all these layoffs going on all around me)

Anyway I did get some primer on and some sanding (lots and lots of sanding) done

Step 1. Sand smooth with a block sander to make sure all the edges are square and knock off all the wood fibers.

Step 2. Spread on Plastic wood to fill in the gaps and edge tear from the saw blade. let dry for about an hour

Step 3. Sand the plastic wood till it’s flush and smooth

Step 4. Spread on a thin layer of Gesso and let dry for about an hour

Step 5. Sand smooth and check for any chips ,dents, edge tear, imperfections

Step 6. Spray on a thin layer of primer (I used Kills to hide any dark spots) and let dry until it’s no longer tacky

Step 7. Apply Spackle to any cracks or small dings and let dry

Step 8. Sand smooth with a fine sandpaper (about 350 grit should do the trick)

Step 9. Spray on another layer of primer and let dry (rinse and repeat) :stuck_out_tongue:

Step 10. Final inspection before painting :looney::sweat: Whew! Take a deep breath and remember this is wood, not metal or plastic. it’s not going to be perfect every time.

If it wasn’t raining and super windy on Sunday I would have been able to paint them but I didn’t want to risk it. I’ve also decide to just stick with black and white this first time around. Anyway here’s the pics of the progress so far.

I also had my mounting plate made to in a few different thicknesses to test stability and fit. I think it turned out pretty good. I haven’t added the holes for the Korean sticks yet but I’ll do that when I get them in and get a solid measurement.

Amazing work! I want one.

absolutely beautiful work…
i would like one also!!

Man VOLTECH.
That is nice nice work.

How many hours to finish all ten Steps?
Seem a lot. :frowning:

I’d be happy to stop by your pad to give the ShinJN stamp of approval… and put in a personal request for a wider version for hand space. =D

Still need that art template done? I’ll be getting on it tomorrow since it’s my first day off in a long time.

Awesome work Voltech. Those things are beautiful. All the hard work really shows.

can locals come by to see them haha

Actually I had an idea! A while back I wanted to do an HD Remix Locals only BBQ\Tourney and I was thinking, what a cool way to show off all my hard work and get to meet some of the local SF players at the same time. It would probably be invite only just so i don’t have a bunch of random people coming out. I do have the space for like a 16 man + friends party so stay tuned and I’ll post the details.

I’m in SD but might be worth the drive.

Keep us posted!

You mentioned this too me on Yahoo! Messenger.
Be cool to do it.

Seems like a lot of us Southern California/Orange County people really interested in your Case. :lovin:
And I live so super close to you too.

Bumping for exposure, and because Tech Talk sucks right now.

send me a plane ticket from NY to LA…

pretty please?

call me crazy but I kinda like the color of the primer

I do too, a blue vewlix style stick would be really nice actually.

Haha New York city? Get a rope! lol
Hey I did pick up some navy “Blaze Blue” paint last time I was out  Oh and thanks for the bump I’m busy soldering a couple of Toodles PS3 boards with a cold one in hand as we speak. Woohoo good times ahead

Busy little bee

Been tinkering in the lab again, way into the wee hours of the night.

Still needs paint

This is my prototype box and it’s not quite perfect but gives me a good Idea what the others will turnout like. I see a few imperfections but over all I’m pretty happy with it it :bgrin:

This one has the Happ button setup but I’ll still drill the little tabs for snap in buttons in all the frames caues you never know when you might want want to turn Japanese.

I’ve gone madd!

I cut the bottom off of one of my Happ sticks cause it looked like it was sitting a little high and there wasn’t much room to lower it in this box. Although I think I know how to fix that now with a thinner piece of wood for the bottom sheet this one was 1/4" thick I’ll be using 1/8 on the others and it should be ok.
BTW it feels sweet!

Two Cthulhu boards all soldered up before I even finished my beer LOL
