Missed the mailman yesterday who showed up with my mangeta yesterday. Hes going to make a new attempt tomorrow. Cant wait.
Mine just came in. Wondering what spring is installed out of the box. Would love to change it but apparently I need a adhesive to do so, at least according to the slip of paper that came with it.
Yeah, you need Loctite Blue to reaffix the screw to the shaft that holds the magnet and shaft in place.
Itâs not hard to do, just put the Loctite on the screwâs threading, then screw it in, and let it set for about 30 minutes.
Believe me, this happened to me on my prototype, the screw came loose and the shaft broke the magnets on my board, had to have a new one sent.
Ah. Not too bad then.
Unrelated, but the software doesnât pick up the device. Tried clearing it through the firewall, running as admin, and 3 different cables, same thing.
Are you holding the mode button while plugging in?
I was not, no. Thanks!
Is it required to hold the mode button while plugging it in every time?
To put it into programming mode? Yes. For normal play? No.
Cool thanks!
So I see that the preset configuration has 0% on the cardinals and 35% on the diagonals. What lever does this mimic closest to i.e. Sanwa, Seimitsu, Hori?
After using the Magenta for a few hours tonight I can safely say a few things.
One, I dont recommend it at all for Tekken. At the end of the day its still a JLF with a cute gimmick, with all the issues that brings.
Two, if you play 2D games, this lever is fantastic. Most accurate one I have put my hands on. Alas, those games are no longer my cup of tea.
Three, software wise I wish you where able to change the diagonal percentages individually. Wanted to make my up forward and up back inputs basically dead center in the corner, but was not able to.
Finally, instructions would be nice. The video instructions the slip of paper mentions could have easily been printed out and packaged. The need for glue is also a bit of a bummer when changing out the springs, more so after dropping 100 bucks on the sucker just to have to go to a hardware store and spend more.
Overall? Eh. Ended up setting it up for a half hour just to emulate my 309Mj, only to realize about 2 games in that I wasnât doing anything on it that I couldnât do on my korean stick already. Gonna sell it to a buddy who would love its features.
You absolutely can change diagonals separately. Make sure you have advanced controls checked. It should have a total of 10 sliders along the bottom of the screen. 1 for all Cardinals, 1 for all diagonals, and 1 for each direction separately.
Having a bit of an issue thatâll probably seem silly, but Iâm not sure how to screw the ball top I have in place on the shaft. On a jlf there is usually the piece on the bottom end of the shaft that the E clip is placed onto that I donât see on the magenta.
You need a hex key to fit the screw on the bottom, turn it clockwise as you screw in the balltop.
Got it! Thanks very much!
I also really love the posibilities for the software, especially as a training tool for someone lower on the skill scale or when you want different properties for different games/characters.
You can change the actuation point for each direction, but the size of each zone is only done for all 4 at the same time.
Well yes. If you change the size of one direction itâs going to interfere with itâs 2 neighboring directions.
Magenta finally came in the mail yesterday to my delight. Popped open my qanba dragon pcb and there is no 3 pin header. Felt sure the stick was so new that no soldering would be required but apparently so in my case.
Received the Magenta Lever last night. Was initially going to install it on my UFB installed VLX but the harness that powers the lever is short.
However, I did install it on my TE2 Chun Li stick on that unused port for the LVL 3 PCB. Did some calibration on it and used it for a little bit on BBTAG. Gotta say that I was never able to pull off qcbs consistently on a stock jlf. But with the Magenta Lever I can do qc motions with a little bit more precision than with other levers. Still going to mess around any maybe put the 1.5 lbs spring and try it on Tekken later tonight.
