Project GT-C. Let's talk about circular JLF restrictors

I think I left the file on my USB drive at work. I’ll try to upload it later today.

Is it similar to LS-56 octogate?

holy crap i thought of this same thing when i first learned to play on square gate.same square corners but the “sidewalls” of the gate would meet at a gentle angle or maybe a notch to mark the exact center in relation to the corners. never had the knowledge to bring it to fruition though. if this ever does get off the ground i’d like to test

concept

sorry bout the crappy quality. did it in paint. either this or a square with a notch on each side. not sure how feasible this would be but it would keep the short engagement of a square with a guide for us octo devotees.

Sorry man but the initial molding cost is way way too high for me to look into making any others for the next few years.

You could probably do this by filing the square gate’s sides to this angle, enough to make it sit at that new L/R corners. I did a similar thing with some leaf switch joysticks but it was more on making the restrictors more “square” than it originally was.

It’s very crude but it might be the only way to do it for now.

hi toodles im not sure if this has been asked already but i ve got a madcatz SE joystick and i was wondering if the circular restrictor would fit it like it fits the sanwa joystick or i should get a sanwa restrictor and change both?

The SE plate isn’t adjustable like the JLF. At a minimum, you’d need the full clear plate from a JLF, but I dont know if it’ll work on an SE. Just put a real JLF in.

Here is the link to the image comparing different gates.

OOPS.

Try this one.

Toodles, I must say, after a few hours of SSF IV, BlazBlue and SHUMPS, the GT-C circular JLF restrictor feels silk smooth and it holding up well. It appears I have (already) my GT-C set to the 2nd set of click points so I have no issues yet.

Sanwa restrictor on jlf knock-off Sorry for the lack of better pics, but the blue under the plate at 4 points is painters tape (acting as a spacer). The main body of the stick needs to be modified (the tabs which hold the plate need to be shaved slightly) and since there is a small height difference where the clips sit, I used painters tape under the pcb as well. now all is tight and works well.

thanks for the info guys…

i ll get both!!! ^^

edit:

dang LL is out of stock with the regular JLF restrictors so will the octagonal fit the GT-C?

Yeah it’ll work, all you need is the base gate, the restrictors are modular.

BETTER PICS of how my SE stick is set up. I prob do a thread at some point. Just joined shoryuken like a week ago, and have only been able to post since yesterday.

pzlate thanks for the info

and thanks for the pics jbond_00, i ve never worked with stock SE parts before if the stick was mine i d replace both buttons and joy…
welcome to tech talk too ^^

I gotta say after a week of playing MVC3 with the gate, I’ve completely forgotten that I even put the GT-C in my stick and just go about my business and play the game. my execution has improved (I think) quite a bit since the motions are buttery smooooooooth and not getting jammed in the corners…

Thanks Toodles!! really looking forward to the JLF Flash!!! Any ETA on it?

Been using the circle gate all day. Moves come out much better and now couple with a couple of springs from Home Depot, my TE sticks feel like Happs Competition sticks.

The Circle Gate - So Nice I Bought it Twice!

thanks Toodles!

I was handed a PS3 VLX to tri-mod (after tearing out a crappy attempt at a dual mod), first thing I noticed after sitting down with it was the gate. Opened it up and sure enough the person he bought the stick from had bought one of these guys.

These are pretty slick, nicely done.

Placed an order for a couple of these today. Thanks Toodles! It’s been a while since I’ve been on a JLF but the cab I’m picking up next week comes with a pair of them.
