Project GT-C. Let's talk about circular JLF restrictors

I’ve got one of these in a TE rd2 along w/a MK panel & ToggleMe billet aluminum bat-top (w/stiffer spring to compensate for the heavier bat-top). IMO, this is the perfect hybrid combo (for MK) since it has the sensitivity of Sanwa buttons & a precise stick w/a round gate (& bat-top). It’s like playing MK back in the day at 7-11 but only much better!

Inside Diameter

Has anybody been able to find out what the inside diameters are on the different inserts?

I just opened up my stick today and noticed there was some blue resin/powder build up on the GT-C… anyone else notice this?

I’ve been seeing them on LL for a while so I decided to get one just for the heck of it. I mostly use a square restriction plate but the circle is really smooth. I like how much easier you can do the buffered FB->SFB. I noticed that I ride the gate a bit with it but I don’t see it as too much of a problem, considering you got the measurement almost exactly at the point where you’re not loosing any motion time in execution. It’s in the sweet spot, I guess you could say. I still prefer the square restricting plate but that’s just my personal preference. I think pro’s and beginners can find their place with one of these! I’m glad I tried one. Thank you.

Went from square to octo which was better but way too “clicky” for my tastes.
My circle gate arrived today from LL and instant love. Feels just like the arcades when I was growing up :D.

I have one installed in my SE and I noticed some white powder, not blue, around the actuator and the circle gate. also looks like my GT-C has a small chip on it, but it doesn’t affect it much.

Finally got a GT-C Round Restrictor Plate Insert yesterday, Zangief is no super sayayin with this but I have a hard time with diagonals now is this a know issue? Am I going to get use to it later or is there a fix for it?

What is the throw difference like between this and the Octo. I like the Octo gate but it does add to the throw. This looks like you can the benefit of the square gate throw being equal at all sides. Is that right? Toodles do you know the measure distance of the throw on these? Looks awesome. I’m down for 2.

I havent done the math to see how far the actuator can go into the corners. I can say that the measurement of corner to corner on an octo is less than the diameter of the GT-C. You may need to get a ‘feel’ opinion from someone on that.

Hmm I have the circle gate now, it’s wierd since I use to ride that gate, but now my Hawk is OK, but I’m struggling a bit with ibuki, i miss my clicking noise, but soo far I feel like ima like it

i just ordered one. i can just plug this to my stock TE, correct? i assumed it came w/ a sanwa jlf. stupid me i know, should’ve asked before i ordered…

Heh, yes, TE’s have Sanwa JLFs, and you can swap out the square gate for a GT-C.

Great product. Id recommend a tighter spring in the jlf for those that use this. Dashes might be harder due to the larger throw than the square gate. I actually ended uo going back to a square for that reason.

dunno if it was needed or not, but thought i make one anyways. more videos of Toodles’ products coming soon.

I have them. Loved circular till i needed to crouching block. switched to octo. It’s really good for offense though.

I got mine a few days ago and installed in my modded Namco Stick. My execution as gone better since i started using it (I’m more into old school Happ)…definitely it stays. Going to get a few more for my TE in a near future (Waiting for T-SLG 1.6).

i’m lovin this for kof. diagnols are a lil mo difficult but i’m gettin used to it. doin instant air orochinagi is buttery smooth.

same here. can you comment on this Toodles? hopefully the crack on mine won’t get bigger

I dont really. Even though it’s white, Im certain its from the GT-C; I get the same thing when I sand the rough side. I’ll happily swap you out of they break, but getting another run made in a different plastic is just not possible.

Hi Toodles, I’ve got a Madcatz Brawl Stick, can I use your circular restrictor with it ?

You said earlier that Madcatz SE plate wasn’t adjustable, what about the Brawl Stick one ?

In this thread, it is said that Brawk Stick contains a JLF clone : Madcatz Brawl Stick, anyone had hands on? Quality stick?

Thanks !

The joystick in the Madcatz Fightstick SE didn’t have a swapable gate in the restrictor plate. It was an all-in-one design with a square gate built in to the mold. This was probably just to save some money. The new Madcatz JLF clones come with a regular restrictor plate so you can swap in an octagonal or circular gate.
